I mentioned that book specific to encourage atheist to read it, Christianity are proven to be absolutely true.I personally got my revelation from God. It might be a cheap book but if it can help any atheist to turn to God as it did for the author, it is priceless. Placebos are all cheap. Placebooks?

No, placebos -- like the one that says -- let it be, God doesn't like law enforcement.

No, placebos -- like the one that says -- let it be, God doesn't like law enforcement. Religion is the opiate for the masses. An enema would work well on them too

C.S Lewis says different... Yes, and the facts show different. Many people change their beliefs and religion. Athiests are no exception. Some religious people become Athiests and some atheists become believers.

I disagree.

Empirically, the believers are more likely to be tormented at the end of life due to their fear that they are not ready to meet their (alleged) maker. It is sad to witness this fear of an imaginary being(s) and the virulent power of a religious indoctrination.

They can say a nice word or two about the friends. The ones I have trouble with are the ones who have left and gone to their “perfect” religious group and heap scorn on remaining friends while still espousing that they have Christian values which should include loving fellow Christians.

I care what he says, as do many others. He was a very smart man who brought comfort to millions, and continues to bring comfort to millions through his writings.

Most I've heard were fairly peaceful...My grandma wasn't she was very depressed and her eldest daughter had just passed, before she did 1.5 months later...

Bigbiddy. I have a lovely friend who is a strong believer and attends a mainstream church. We first met years ago when I was still attending meetings. This friend had an interesting reaction to a news article covering an interview with one of those people who had left the 2x2 church for another group. She felt that the person interviewed was not displaying a Christian attitude and could not understand how a person who claims to be a Christian was so critical and condemning. Life is short, and from the perspective of brevity, it makes sense to try and maintain positive thoughts and to frame our lives with altruistic intentions.

C.S Lewis says different... Lewis was raised in a religious family that attended the Church of Ireland. He became an atheist at age 15, though he later described his young self as being paradoxically "very angry with God for not existing" and "equally angry with him for creating a world".
Also His early separation from Christianity began when he started to view his religion as a chore and a duty; around this time, he also gained an interest in the occult, as his studies expanded to include such topics. Being "very angry with God for not existing" and "equally angry with him for creating a world," is not a very adult way of evaluating something so serious.

As a hospice volunteer for six years, I found a lot of older folk were comfortable in their belief in seeing their god. Of course, I spend most of my time in a nursing home for Brethren pastors and their wives. Then there are those like my dad who was scared silly of believing the wrong thing. Was he "saved" (something he couldn't buy into) or not till he was judged? He was a former 2x2 and left the cult but still believed their teachings. Obviously he was missing something as his life was one of fear. His conscious, maybe?

I just saw an interesting meme in another website. It says, “Atheists are absolutely certain of two things: 1) God does not exist, and 2) they hate him.

Of course you know that those two statements are not true, right? No idea if true or not. The meme seems to fit with Lewis. I suppose it depends on who you’re referring to. I’m assuming not all atheists deny god and gods for the same reasons. I just found it interesting.

Nice to see you dm... That wouldn't change the fact he was an atheist that turn into a Christian. Every Atheist has a different path to atheism. Cannot someone be an atheist before say the adult age of 18 even if they don't say the right words to express it?

I encourage atheist to just read the book "The Case for Christ" you can't loose anything but you can gain eternal life!!!
I could have become a atheist myself, not because I don't believe there is a God but because I don't understand all He allows, but that would be foolish, I guess such a person is not technically a atheist?
Another good read for believers are "Growth has no boundaries" by Dr.Henry Cloud and Dr.John.Townsend
The old umfolozi would have taken up the challenge to debate this topic but I have learned that you can't make a camel drink.
I agapé all off you atheist aswell as fellow Christians💕

This was not intended to read 'place books.' It was intended to be read as ' plah - see-books!' It was in reference to books, which Guid auld Bob suggested were 'placebos.' Oh never mind.

C.S Lewis says different... I don't care what he says. I have talked to a lot of atheists and they all did their 'research' when they were still Christians to prove that Christianity was right and then found out that it's history negates the probability of it being true and then realized that the probability of a God was also very low. So it sounds as though he went the opposite way. Thought he was an atheist when he really didn't know what the hell that even meant.

That is the same as saying once you become a Christian there is no going back. People also change religions. Sure people change religions. It is extremely rare that a well read and researched atheist would ever be part of any religion ever again. You have to believe in your religions based on faith. Atheists can't do that when it comes to gods.
