Hamas as a party provides the territory's military defense -- no separate army needed. In effect, it's an underground military dictatorship. It's a terrorist state, no better than ISIS. Yes, of course. The party accomplished that by going full-on militant in the vacuum of a legitimate Palestinian security force and the isolation of the Gaza Strip.

The party accomplished that by going full-on militant in the vacuum of a legitimate Palestinian security force and the isolation of the Gaza Strip. Hamas expelled the Palestinian National Authority in 2007 and their belligerant behaviour made it necessary for both Egypt and Israel to tighten control of the borders. As it turned out, border control was far from adequate. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Gaza_(2007)

When people say the Palestinians started it on Oct 7th, it's not the whole picture. The current conflicts are just one of many battles. In recent times Israel has been involved in about 15 wars involving organizations in the Gaza Strip. It's hard to say who first started it and when did it start. How far do you go back in history to find the answer? Back to the OT? , en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaza–Israel_conflict

They're at war with brutal inhumane terrorists who have no respect for human life - even of their own people. If you want to understand what Israel is dealing with take a look at hamas-massacre.net but be warned...you can't unsee the brutality on this site.

If you want to understand what Israel is dealing with take a look at hamas-massacre.net but be warned...you can't unsee the brutality on this site. Thanks but I would rather not look at hamas-massacre.net My point is; The current situation is but just one point on a long timeline. No one can say "who started it, or when it started". There is a long continuing pattern of "brutal inhumane terrorism" baked into the Abrahamic blood religions. What's worse is these massacres are to be remembered and celebrated. Here are few examples from the "good book" Joshua 6:20-21 (Destruction of Jericho): "When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city. They devoted the city to the Lord and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it—men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep, and donkeys." Deuteronomy 20:16-17 (Instructions for certain cities): "However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites—as the Lord your God has commanded you.
Judges 20:46-48: "On that day twenty-five thousand Benjamite swordsmen fell, all of them valiant fighters. But six hundred of them turned and fled into the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, where they stayed for four months. The men of Israel went back to Benjamin and put all the towns to the sword, including the animals and everything else they found. All the towns they came across they set on fire."
1 Samuel 15:3: "Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys."
and it never stops.
Revelation 14:20 (NIV): "They were trampled in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed out of the press, rising as high as the horses’ bridles for a distance of 1,600 stadia.

I didn't get far before I disagreed.
To say Israel is no closer to defeating Hamas is plain wrong.
Palestinians have proved themselves incapable of running a peaceful state alongside Israel.
The UN has proved incapable of supporting the peace and prosperity of the Palestinian people.
I think Israel will take charge of security while some donor countries will help the Palestinians rebuild.
The best thing the world can do is support the state of Israel's right to exist and work towards limited self-rule for the Palestinians.
