This is going to look very passive aggressive at best, and nobody will be able to tell if each person is just slipping toward worldliness selfishly, or protesting for abuse awareness, or signaling that they have left the truth and become apostate. Yawn. If you're going to protest, you need to actually protest. Want to use 'non traditional attire'? Fine. A certified troublemaker like myself would get a bunch of the MEN in dresses, black stockings, and giant buns. Then walk around the holy ground cosplaying sister worker enforcer bully against each other, making a mockery of the "standard". That would get the point across. Would be interesting to see what would happen if an elder’s wife wore what she wanted, normal clothes and did her hair the way she wanted … say pants, makeup … what will happen to the meeting?

What you wear, for the most part, should be a big old yawn. Who cares. Be you. Let everyone be who they feel. What you look like is the least important thing about you. This tyranny over women’s appearance is just men keeping women under their thumb. What do you think women wore in Bible times? No bra. No underwear. No pins and buns. No pantyhose and sensible shoes. Pretty risqué by 2 by 2 Victorian standards. 😀 Might want to take a gander at some ancient history before you speak...

It is scary to step outside the lines that have been drawn for you by others but it is so important. In lots of things there is no right way. There is just the right way for you. thanks. I have been hitting the quote button, but when I try to edit the quote to shorten it, sometimes I delete something integral to keep the quotes right. I need to google how to make, quote, and edit posts on proboards. It's ok for you to be harsh on me, but if you could just understand that I do know who I am. I finally know who I am more than I ever did before. I am not being forced to be who I am. I have enjoyed my 40s so much because I finally feel like I don't care any more what people think of me, and I can just be who I am. But I do admit that there have been people who have tried to force others to conform. That is not my experience, but I acknowledge that it has been the experience of others. It shouldn't happen, and I am sorry it has. I had actually typed a response to you about being nauseated by this topic, but my phone died before I could submit it. I agree that there should be a bit more latitude when dictating how people dress. The Workers set an example of what modest dress is, but I don't think people should be required to emulate them to a tee.
But there are minimum standards that should exist... How short can a skirt be? In fact, why not just wear short shorts and a tube top. Out of respect, people generally dress more modestly for church, it shouldn't look like a bunch of hicks just walked in from a beach party.
But I do sympathize with women because its not always practical to wear skirts.. And I never understood, "If a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering" (1 Corinthians 11:15). How is it a glory or a covering when its tied-up in a knot behind their heads?
They have relaxed the rules, I noticed guys wearing shorts at a bible study, and both my sisters wore sandals. No make-up or nail polish yet, but I suspect its coming. Neckties and suits may go out the window too?

There is a woman in our meeting who wears trousers and she has the kindest heart you could ever see. She is always there to help others, doesn't judge by appearance and would help people that others wouldn't even look at, you can see the life of Christ lived through her. She wouldn't like it if she heard me say this as she wouldn't take any praise, she truly follows Jesus in word and deed. But even though she wears trousers, she still dresses modestly, and loves God and you can see it in her life, to me her heart is more important to God than her wearing trousers. I agree about modesty, but we have to be willing to dress modestly not forced to. God wants a willing heart, not doing things because we have to because a man says you must do it, Jesus guided people, he taught them and showed them now to live before God, but he didn't force anyone to do anything and I believe that's how God's people should be too. I don't wear long skirts because I have to, I do so because I want to, because I believe to dress modestly is right before God. God looks at the heart.

To add my own 2 cents— I worked in an environment which dictated we dress in business casual. Since I went to meeting, my closet held many nice skirts and tops, which I wore to work. I also dyed my hair and wore light makeup. On Fridays the rules at work relaxed and I would come in with a pair of jeans and a nice top. At one point, a girl who sat near me at work asked that I pray for her during a painful situation in her life. My friend’s situation improved and she thanked me for praying. She said, “I just knew you would pray and God would listen” Now I know that my look was not conforming to the typical professing woman—actually I felt awfully worldly when I passed the desk of a sweet much younger professing girl on my way outside to have a cigarette! My point is, my friend at work felt something about me that was different. I’ve pondered this occasionally over the years and it still makes my heart lift. Today my hair has grown white. I love the color, or lack thereof. I love wearing my waist length hair in a long braid. I only wear makeup and a skirt on Sunday mornings, out of respect for those in my meeting. I’m retired and I love visiting our senior citizen center. The other day at the center I was asked if I am United Pentecostal. I looked down at my jeans and Buckees tee shirt and Birkenstock sandals and wondered where that came from. The point, I think is, that people can actually feel your spirit—if that makes sense? Clothing rarely matters these days.

There is just the right way for you. some people don’t need to step outside the lines regarding clothing because they are kind people who care about others and they feel comfortable that way and don’t care what anyone else dresses like. I have been to meetings with friends that wear makeup and nail polish and dye their hair and cut their hair and they have been as cold as ice. Others in the same attire are warm and friendly so it really doesn’t matter what we wear. We want to try to be modest but if someone isn’t modest it shouldn’t be a shaming thing but rather an opportunity to reach out and be kind because they’re probably going through some struggles or maybe that’s just a representation of what they have been through in life and need our love even more. Jesus accepts us just as we are and He will move us to change our dress if that’s what he wants. It’s not up to us to change anyone but we can just be the light like Dub said. Some people have to dress a certain way than others and it’s never up to us to judge such. Maybe workers dress a little more modest because they’re not in the working world for one thing, and maybe they want to hold a higher standard in dress because of their place. I have no problem with anyone dressing strict Victorian style or more casual or downright eyebrow lifting. If we want to be where Jesus wants us to be, which is gathered together with others that love Jesus, then who the hell cares. I went to a meeting once dressed in dirty clothes and pants because there was no time to clean up or change. That was one of the best meetings I was in.

I wonder when the first woke clergy started wearing those dresses? And those hats! How about all those different hats?
A sects “uniform” identifies the tribe, just like today each street gang has their own colors.

If you look up the greek word for covering there are several meanings. Thrown around is one. I get the impression it would mean hastily put up or something of that nature. Yes, the rebellion is on now and I say unrelated to the evil situation we are in.
