The thing is, Wally has his definition of Humanism, and as far as he is concerned, it applies to all time, all people, everywhere in the world, and in every circumstance. Which is why thinking people have to ignore attitudes like his.
Meanings change with time, and also with use.
It is a quiet Sunday afternoon here at the beach , and nothing nicer than a Bombolini with a Rum on the Rocks, or a Baileys, and a surf while enjoying our wonderful creation.

In the early 20th Century Religious people were very Pious and Sanctimonious. Possibly because of the deep division between Catholics and Protestants in Ireland. But the breakaway Protestant Churches in the early 1900's extended that making it Protestant against Protestant. It was wrong, it was evil and completely at odds with Christ's teaching. That attitude was starting to break down when we were 2x2's in the 50's and 60's. Thank God that it has almost disappeared and everybody is becoming more Secular. I know some 2x2's that attend Keswick Convention and they say it is more enjoyable than their own. So Humanism is taking over even though some diehards don't accept it. Common sense will prevail, good always triumphs over evil. oh you are right your side(atheistic humanism) will win at the end for at least a little while but then that pesky thing called The Return of Christ happens and it won't turn out like you think it will then Christ will indeed triumph over evil(atheistic humanism and any other contrary belief). there is absolutely no common sense in abandoning God and his way of doing things for things like atheistic humanism.

The pandemic exposes the need for humanism
"The pandemic not only points to the need for humanism, it exposes it"
KevinMD is the web’s leading platform where physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, medical students, and patients share their insight and tell their stories. already covered by Christianity... Sounds like wally is admitting to aspects of Humanism he can agree with!

You did say you go to meetings did't you? You should be at home sitting in the lounge in your Sunday best reading your Bible and praying. No beach, no alcohol, and no surfing on a Sunday. God didn't create that Bombolini or Rum, (bt he did create the humans who made it) and I hope the rocks are not too uncomfortable. Also, hope you are not drinking while driving - I mean surfing either.

I am more interested in People, not in beliefs. Beliefs are just thought bubbles that pop up into someones head from time to time. People are real and every life is precious.

Rocks = ice Creation is to be enjoyed, regardless of the day.....the old Sabbath laws disappeared over 2000 years ago. It is rotten weather elsewhere in the country, but we have our own microclimate, and it is really nice. Nothing like some spiritual inspiration while being out in nature, be it the Bush, or the sea. Yes I attend, and we had a very nice and spiritually nourishing meeting this morning.

Which "god" of the multitude of gods are humanists "rejecting?"
Who is "pretending Christ was an atheistic humanist?" His teachings of how to treat other people was humanist but he was NOT "atheistic " and I don' think anyone here has pretended Christ was an atheistic humanist!"
Why should we need to "steal "morals/ideals" from Christianity or anywhere else? Those morals/ideals are basically inborn in a child and if nourished properly will remain with or without the need of input from any religious input!
Why should we need to "pretend that atheistic humanism can't be held up along with Christianity? " There are already both secular humanists as well as Christian humanists & some other religions as well.
mainly God but they do reject all theistic veiwpoints... your buddy redback is pretending that Christ was an atheistic humanist and that he taught it condoned it. there is only one kind of humanism and its atheistic. you appear to be another one pretending Christ was an atheistic humanist you just confirmed that by saying his teachings "was humanist" atheistic humanism didn't come along till WAY after Christ and Christianity and scripture were well established. it was stolen by atheistic humanism to give an alternative to God whether "as well as" "or in place of". one cannot serve two masters this is basic Christianity. just because all kinds of people are doing it only confirms that its deception is working... T ell that to these people, wally. I'm sure that they will glad for your setting them straight. Religious humanism From Wikipedia, <excerpts>
Religious humanism is an integration of humanist ethical philosophy with congregational rites and community activity which center on human needs, interests, and abilities.
Self-described religious humanists differ from secular humanists mainly in that they regard the humanist life stance as their religion and organize using a congregational model.
Religious humanists typically organize in the 21st century under the umbrella of Ethical Culture or Ethical Humanism.
Ethical Culture and religious humanism groups first formed in the United States from Unitarian ministers who, not believing in god, sought to build a secular religion influenced on the thinking of French philosopher Auguste Comte.

I don't think we should worry too much about any Judgement after Death. It could be that when the power gets switched off, the lights just go out. Nobody knows, it is pure speculation to think that anyone understands what takes place after Death.
Should it happen that I have to face the Judge, just hope Wally and Nathan are not on the Jury, I will be a goner. Then again it would probably be a Judge only decision.
That Judge will be very busy with 107 Billion People to get through before the Animals get their turn. It will be a long, long queue, you will need a lot more patience than standing in a Covid testing queue.

The Bible makes it pretty clear that Christians will serve as judges and Lord it over celestial beings. Why not humans as well? "Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! " - One Corinthian 6:3. Wally and Nathan will certainly be busy judging the angels, but maybe they can get to you during a break.

Belief in God(the judeo/christian one) is a "thought bubble" that has been around about 6000 years now and can hardly be considered something that happens from 'time to time"...

like i have said before dressing it up, camouflaging it, or defining it/disguising it with any other term/label isn't gonna change what it is which is atheistic humanism. i repeat, slather as much lipstick as you want on a pig at the end of the day its still a pig.

You just demonstrated what Bob stated! well that doesn't appear to be the truth. i repeat atheistic humanism did more to reveal what it is than anything Christianity has ever done. we didn't "combine" anything atheistic humanism did it for us....

That is true, humanism fundamentally promotes that 'good' can be a purely human trait with the omission of God or any supernatural influence.. But all have sinned, only God is good.

Humanism is not exclusive to Atheists. It is a QUALITY not a BELIEF.
Christian humanism can be seen as existing at the core of the Christian message. Jesus himself held the commandment, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself"

Jesus himself held the commandment, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself" atheistic humanism is a belief system go back and read the link i provided about that. or better yet look at the link xna gave that said basically the same... no such thing as Christian humanism its just a made up label to deceive many into following it and following it they are. what it really is is atheistic humanism... God/Christ and his words were first atheistic humanism was MUCH later and should never be aligned with Them its dishonest...

Well said Dmg, thank you. Humanism is a good quality that everybody should have no matter what their belief. As for his Court analogy that was just dumb. I am starting to think he is having too many Budweisers. Two standard drinks a day is good for your Health, but more than that can make you stupid. I wonder if Wally knows about Bud Light. That might help him see the light. Would you even wash the car with that sh-e?
