This verse in the Bible indicates that Christ was a Humanist.
John 13:34-35 New International Version 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Christian Humanism was a Renaissance movement that combined a revived interest in the nature of humanity with the Christian faith. It impacted art, changed the focus of religious scholarship, shaped personal spirituality, and helped encourage the Protestant Reformation.
That happened in the 14th Century. But some Churches have not concentrated on encouraging humanism, gone off in a different direction.
In current times, it is high time to bring back Humanism. All Churches should put it front and centre, to help save the Human race.

It is not modern, has always been there, just neglected.
Nobody is saying Humanism should be"Instead Of" it should be included "As Well". The principles are simple not complicated like Theology. Not much use concentrating on History, if you leave out basic, simple, Moral Law.
Humanism is common moral decencies i.e. altruism, integrity, honesty, truthfulness, responsibility. Humanist ethics is amenable to critical, rational guidance.
IMO the Church is the right place to include it in their teachings.

Humanism is not a belief system. They are just moral principles that we should all include in our lives and Churches should support that.
As I said in a previous post, Humanism is not instead of,but as well as.

As I said in a previous post, Humanism is not instead of,but as well as. Churches/Christians tend to want to get their "morals" from Christ(correct me if i am wrong) not someone named mario... although the verse in revelation is really about the book of revelation i would be mighty careful "adding"(as well as) to what Christ said and did...

To my way of thinking Christ's morals were very Humanistic. Good thought to have at Christmas time, “ Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all Men."

Don't be a Grinch Wally, it will destroy your Health. Be joyful, you manufacture more Endorphins and Serotonin. Natural hormones that make you feel good and help to stop illness. Go join your Family, it would make them so happy.

This is how I understand these terms.
Atheist means only, I am not a theist.
Theist believes in god or gods.
Humanist believe in humans alone
Some religions are non-theistic; nontheist Friends, atheist Quakers Some versions of; Hinduism, Buddhism, Janinism, Daoism, Confucianism, Epicureanism, Deism, Pandeism, ...

Taking the supernatural out of the teaching of Jesus in the NT is what Thomas Jefferson did with his Jefferson bible. A copy of the Jefferson bible, beginning in 1904 until the 1950s, was given to new members of Congress.

Maybe it would be of help to understand some of the reasons that people have created such traditions.
It was going into a time of year when it be getting colder, -there would be less light, there would be a lot less food available thought the winter.
So, they would hunker down, -put on fat to insulate themselves against the cold and help them live thought the winter; -kind of hibernate until the life giving sun brought back the sustenance for life once more.
So, -the huge feasts, -the lights, -the evergreen tree that appears to "live" through the winter...
It is harder to pin down the gift giving tradition.
Maybe because at that time of year was when people had the most and I would like to think they simply wanted to share it others.

I will bet dimes to dognuts that he no longer functions as a human in any way, shape, or form. we don't know what kind of form exactly that they get in hell(it would be eternal though) but abraham was able to recognize the rich man as his descendent and they were able to communicate as humans do and he complained about the heat and the thirst which would be "human" things....just sayin'
