chuck . From where did you source this concept Chuck? It bears no resemblance to the god of Abraham or the god who fails to intervene and prevent suffering. Is your God all-powerful; all-knowing and all-prese I suspect that Chucks god is otherwise known as "the morally right."

I’ve noticed that you have made the statement ‘God is true’ several times recently. Can you explain what it is that you mean by it, including what you mean by ‘God’ and what you mean by ‘true’. Matt10 To me God is a nature, and if that nature is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love, then that is true. I am not saying that is all that God is. But that is what I see. You haven’t explained this very well. First you haven’t attempted to explain what you mean by ‘true’. Secondly in relation to what you mean by ‘God‘ you appear to be saying that God is a series of human personality traits which suggests that if there were no humans there would be no God. Of course you also say that this is not all God is, but whatever else he is you certainly aren’t telling us. Perhaps you should have another go at explaining what you mean by ‘God’ and what you mean by ‘true’. Matt10

chuck. From where did you source this concept Chuck? It bears no resemblance to the god of Abraham or the god who fails to intervene and prevent suffering. Is your God all-powerful; all-knowing and all-present? The scriptures. It does, stop reading it like a 21st century westerner. The God of Abraham constantly insisted, if you know its wrong, stop doing it and aim for the highest ideal you can conceive.(Genesis 17:1, Walk before me faithfully and blameless). Your idea of the highest ideal has 1000's of years of evolved knowledge compared to Abraham's or the writer of Genisis. Just what makes you think God intervenes like I think your suggesting?. Depends what you think all powerful, all knowing and all present means. What did it mean to the Hebrew people?.

chuckI stopped reading the bible decades ago. In respect of honesty and ethical standards, when Christians support their beliefs by ignoring or denying the biblical verses, it seems right to point out these discrepancies. This article includes biblical verses which teach the individual, who claims that the bible is the word of god, that he is omnipotent; omniscient & omnipresent. In regard to your question 'What did god (allegedly) being all-powerful, all-knowing and all-present mean to the Hebrew people'? - if the god of Abraham did not possess those three characteristics, then he would not have fulfilled the role of a god in their minds. This paragraph from the above linked article: Scripture affirms God’s omnipotence by saying that God does whatever he is pleased to do (Psa 115:3; cf. Isa 55:11 and Jer 32:17). Nothing is too hard for him (Gen 18:14). His word is never void of power, so when he speaks, everything in creation obeys him (Isa 55:11).What is your definition of a god? If the god you believe in does not intervene, then what use is he?
