not really....as to giving a hand maybe in the form of low interest loans(sorry dan)which would be the capitalist way of doing things and BTW i am returning my stimulus check to the IRS today mother is keeping hers.....both me and mother received ours over the last couple days.... The stimulus check wasn't charity to you -- it was charity in the form of cash to be spent to help businesses like Dan's. Give it to him. OOPS too late, should have thought of that...sorry dan...

I'm sympathetic. But the employees have the exact same problem. Sure, some employees will lose their houses but others will move to employment elsewhere and keep most of their retirement savings. Some employers stand to lose not just their job but their life savings as well. Like you, I'm sympathetic to all. The whole world is going to suffer for some time, but it will bounce back eventually.

There aren't other jobs to go to. And in this country, lots of retirement savings disappear with the health of the stock market. It will bounce back. The saddest part is that there is NO PLAN in the works for ending the chaos in the country. I recall some of the things I thought about in 2016. I hate it when I'm that right. I fear the best/worst is yet to come.

That's probably best, take a chill pill and try to deal with those anger issues We all need to tolerate opinions that we may not agree with. Not everyone shares your priorities, but its obvious that your very afraid of this virus. I personally can't sit home day after day, I'm just not made like that. If the virus didn't get me, cabin fever would. I guess some folks just cherish their freedom more than others. Watch that blood pressure, it sounds like being cooped-up is getting to you?
No, -Dan, -actually being "cooped-up" does not bother me because I'm a rather a solitary person anyway.
Because for myself, at 88 years old, -I am not really very concerned about my own death.
I do find it difficult to understand why you would have "cabin fever." Cabin fever isn't bothering me.
I would be glad to send you a few face masks so you can get out of the "cabin" once in a while if you like.
Glad your content being cooped-up, I could handle a couple weeks, but I'll surely go stir crazy over 6 weeks. I've already fixed the lawn mower, shampooed the carpet, painted a bedroom, annoyed people on message boards, etc. Now its just boring, and an idle mind is the devil’s workshop . I reckon we all cope in our own way.
Thanks for the mask offer, but I've already got 2 of them that I wear for work and in stores. I wash my hands and mask with dish soap when I get home, and have one to use while the other is drying. I spray them with Lysol too. My bigger concern is still financial, I've lost over $3000 in the first 2 weeks of April and all the bills keep rolling in. The SBA announced that they ran out of money, so my application was a waste of time.
I do have empathy for the poor souls who contract this Wuhan virus, and I understand that if you've got your health, you've got nothing to complain about. But assuming life goes on post virus, it would also be nice to have a job.

I'm not a charity case..... yet. It does seem odd that everyone automatically gets a check, but businesses need not apply. I think the government could avoid paying future unemployment benefits if they gave a fraction of what that is going to cost to businesses now? But politicians don't quite grasp how capitalism works, especially the socialist.

Yes, and Nancy Pelosi is refusing further funding unless some very liberal considerations are included in the extended funding bill. What a sweetheart. She has that Marie-Antoinette attitude, "Let them eat cake".

And leadership that will make America great again -- Ask me about December about that one.

I can understand how small business must be in dire straits. Nearly 50 % of our economy comes from small businesses. I realize that they don't have the resources that larger businesses. Therein lies the problem!
Small business owners don't seem to understand that!
It does raise my ire when people say thigs like; "People aren't "out of work", they've been ordered "not to work", that's a big difference from the depression."
There are also 22 million people out of work. Does that differentiation makes any difference to them?
They are not taking vacations to sunny beaches on government "checks" as some people seem to think. They are standing in line at food banks.
They are terrified that they will lose the very house they have for shelter right now. (no cabin in which to have "cabin fever" for them!)
I wonder why some people with small business believe that our present president & his party has the slightest concern for what happens to SMALL businesses!
Small business people are still in the very same situation as their workers!

Nancy Pelosi is working to keep the Republican Senate from steering all of that government aid to BIG business.
She is actually working for YOU, -but because you make the same mistake as many other business owners make, -you hear the word "business" & you are immediately under the delusion that all businesses are the same.
Not sure just why small businesses owners think that way, -but I believe that it has something to do with what they perceive as "labor" vs "business."
Whether it is a kind of feeling that they are above the masses status perception or what, -but whatever never-the-less they have no idea who is really their friend in in the political scheme.
So find out who your real friends are before you keep on denouncing people trying to help you.

i just hate shopping even more. Only so many can enter a supermarket. Cashiers yelling at people to stand in a little box when checking out. You can't see people's faces anymore. I have never seen the world as locked up as it is today.

Religious freedom bears a correlation to secular freedom. Think about the Jews demands for religious freedom from Pharoah. Its a leftist trick to tell the religious they need not exist because "your God lives inside so there's no need to come outside". For every example of religious people being stupid I want you to post at least one example of religious people being smart and at least one example of religious people being persecuted to better reflect the nature of most religious people. Make sure to include Christians in your posts. Where did I say Christians were stupid? Do you think they are stupid and you are projecting something into my post? Right now there is no reason to get together face to face with there is the technology for people to have on line meetings and services. That's not too much to ask for in a time we are trying to get this under some semblance of control. Jesus said it was within us. Are you saying it's not? In a sense. If there never was a Jesus Paul or Moses and the rest there never would have been a religion. If there never were bastions of conservative thought and opinion today, conservatism, as an ideology would not exist. But you know that. I'd like you to recognize that the prayers of most religious people aren't attempts to test God (thou wilt keep me safe even if I run into this fire) but prayers that accord with his mind and will (whatever ye shall ask in my name I shall grant it). The inner prayer life of most religious people is about awareness of higher reasoning, and living in touch with the material and spiritual needs of others.

still capitalism is more of a survival of the fittest model rather than a gov't interfering to put someone out of business model....I don't think anyone has selected dan's business for termination do you? Of course not. I'm explaining you're a bit of a socialist yourself. I'm quite suspicious that you wouldn't mind at all if the government gave him a hand. I know nothing about economics and business models etc but am wondering what would be the fault of helping out people like Dan than risk losing everything? It’s not like they have a choice. What do we pay exorbitant taxes for?

What do we pay exorbitant taxes for? Exactly. Government "for the people" is SOCIAL -- whether your a social person or antisocial, economies are not build on hermits, but on governments that make sure the middle class has money to spend. The hardest thing for real capitalists to accept is that they survive best in social/liberal democracies -- and I don't mean socialist-ideologically fundamentalist regimes.
