I have been sewing, doing puzzles, playing games with my husband, cooking and occasionally baking, keeping in touch through phone, text and emails with friends, thinking about people, and more sewing. Yesterday I began making face masks and cut hepa filter bags for vacuums to insert in the face mask pocket. Works like a hot... tamale. I took an early retirement and so we don't have the worries that some do who's businesses and jobs are on the line because of shutdowns...it is good to hear of government initiatives to help businesses and individuals during these times. Hoping everyone is keeping their heads above the water!

Its pretty much been life as usual.. Spent Sunday painting, figured its a good time to fix-up a few things at the business since few customers are coming in. I refuse to stop living and hide from this virus. Its not that I'm unaware of the danger or that I'm not taking precautions, but life goes on and I refuse to sit home staring at the walls for 6 weeks. I tallied-up the cost of this 6 week shutdown and anticipate it will cost me approximately $17K. Kinda tough coping with a loss like that, but I'm going to try and make some of it up with the extra time I now have to trade the markets.
That was smart thinking to integrate vacuum cleaner bags into face mask, I would have never of thought of that.

We are in self-isolation so there's that weird foreboding feeling, plus I am not used to being cooped up so am going a little nuts! Anyone else?
To kill time I have been making a few video calls a day, doing yoga, listening to lots of relaxing music, watching a new TV series recommended by former TMB member Bert, eavesdropping on my new neighbour from East London and generally working too much!

Still working here and trying to think in terms of opportunities rather then the lost income. Happy to have work. Otherwise I'd be really crazy!!

So far here in the upper parts of the UK we are still allowed to get out once a day for a walk. I need this. They allow it because it is good for mental health. Were it not for this I would be in grave danger of becoming sane. Take away my insanity and I am finished.

My life has changed little. I have, however, been watching way too much TV. I walk the neighborhood once a day if it's not raining. I putter around the house doing all the little things that have been neglected and putter around outside inspecting my flower gardens and worrying about the frost doing them in. Today I am going to paint my nails. Woo hoo!
I work only one day a week just to keep the office open. We are closed to the public now and so I only stay as long as need to take care of paying the bills and do payroll. I am treasurer of a local borough.
The biggest inconvenience is having the hubby around all the time. I am used to being alone most of the day. I call myself a married single woman. I like my privacy and the hubby likes running around all day. The hubby shoots his bows when he gets the chance, which is several times a week if the weather is good. He is heading out today when it warms up.
I poke around on facebook and this forum, do online puzzles, and online card games. I love to read but the library is closed. I have a few boxes of books I haven't unpacked yet. Time for a few re-reads.

I use my iron on the hottest setting after we have been out, and steam the mask and the filters (use a cloth over the filters so they don't stick to the iron. Have put them in the dryer on the hottest setting also. Apparently it doesn't take a very high heat to kill the virus so I am wondering of this would be adequate.

He retired early also so we're around each other quite a bit. Fortunately we get along occasionally 😁.

I am just back home from a good long walk. That's me charged up for another day. Anyone worthy of being a target while I've been away?

I've been reading that temperature has little effect. On the other hand I have seen no mentions of a 'height' factor. Maybe try putting these things at varying heights above the ground and getting them tested? Say, 6', 10', and 15' which might give good sample returns for high heat?

I have to say that I am quite surprised that the hubby and I haven't torn each other to shreds yet. We lead separate lives during the day. I love my home and my privacy and he loves being out and about. We see each other in the evenings and at bedtime. Or at least we used to. I do a lot of tiptoeing around the house these days staying out of his way. So far so good.

That should do it - the coronaviridae are "enveloped" viruses, meaning thet have a bilayer of lipid membrane around them. Their ability to infect relies (amongst other factors) on the lipid and proteins in it staying intact. (The proteins on the envelope/ membrane act similar to keys, allowing the virus into the cell to infect.) The lipid layer itself is 'hydrophobic' (repels water), but from a functional purpose, it serves to keep the area inside the virus hydrated. Heat accomplishes a couple of things relating to this - it disrupts the membrane, and dehydrates the virus (preventing the intact membrane from reforming). Higher heat also denatures the proteins of virus (one reason why a low fever is beneficial). So the way you're disinfecting the masks is spot-on. I pass the time by responding to tmb posts, so not much has changed.

I do a 45 minute walk everyday with the dog. It's good to get out, but we've had really cold weather here with a wind so walking in what was a -22 windchill a couple of days ago is not all that much fun. We've had unusually cold weather here the last week for this time of year and snow. Today was the first warm sunny day and I really enjoyed the walk today, but it also brings out a lot of other people walking so it's harder to avoid them on the paths etc. My hubby and I play lots of games and I also play on line games to pass the time. Been having video chats with family, but really miss the grand boys hugs. Grateful for technology that lets me see them and talk to them though. I also read a lot, usually with library books, but that's not an option anymore. So I am glad I also have an E reader that I can download books to read for free or for a pretty low price. And I come on here once a day!

Still working, just as before. A number of call outs. Some interesting data now on people movements and activities. Scammers seem to have more low hanging fruit to pick with more people working at home. Also seeing vulnerable people being targeted, such as the blind, elderly or disabled.

What, for overseeing home repairs? 😂 I was going to ask how they print books on sponge? No doubt you could really soak up a good sponge novel, but I'd be worried about holes in the plot. Terrible jokes... another way to cope with a pandemic!

Is your wife doing the house repairs? She insists she is better at it than I. So what could be better.
