Lin, I think the important message is not to limit God and to keep an open mind. It was important in that Jesus used that man's circumstances to deflate the disciples self-importance and exclusivity.

And who are you to judge, I haven't read yet were God cut anyone down for doing good? Sorry to interrupt, but I feel I should remind you of when Jesus said Luke 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Kind of scary when you think about it... So I guess you can feel free to judge away, and God will be sure to judge you with the same criteria. I'm not so sure of myself, so for me, I'll stick with forgiving.

This verse doesnt say WHO will be doing the judging back--whether its God or man. God is absolutely JUST. So if God judged someone using man's criteria for judging--that wouldnt be just... So perhaps this verse is referring to man's judgment. In other words to what usually happens in judgment situations. That if you judge another person harshly, etc.--then MEN will judge you back harshly (not cut you any slack). This is what often happens in relationships, etc. It's pretty much the norm for our human nature.

Maybe this could be true with God and man. One thing I have thought of is judging is more than discerning right from wrong. The judge is the one who studies the evidence and then hands down the sentence. We have no right to be the one doing the sentencing

I just realized I didn't read White Knights statement correctly. I thought he wrote "And who are you to judge, I haven't read yet were God cut anyone down for doing so?" when in fact he said " good". I think I need to slow down a bit when I read. Sorry White Knight; in this new light, I actually don't have a problem with what you wrote. edit - Some days I am just on fire. And then some days I am just getting burned.
