Is there a better way to destroy Hamas? They could give peace a try. The Israelis were once the terrorist to the British. They could give secularism a try. "The main terrorist groups were led by future Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin - and an even more militant organisation, Lohamey Heruth Israel (Fighters for the Freedom of Israel) or LHI. In November 1944, LHI assassinated the British Minister for the Middle East, Lord Moyne."They gave peace a try by forceably expelling all of the Jews from Gaza. Land for peace. It was a dismal failure. Good luck trying to make Hamas secular.

Fighting will probably get a lot worse for the next few generations, all thank to those Abrahamic religions.

One mans terrorist is anothers patriot they say... Thats true. I have talked to some of those original Israel terrorists that fought the Brits back then. I've got nothing to say about those Israeli assassin's.

One mans terrorist is anothers patriot they say... When Israel formed they were not seeking the destruction of a different people far cry from hamas and others ideas and actions... Right on both counts. I put more blame on the West for systematically persecuting the Jews for nearly 1000 years, including mandates to expel them from places like Britain, and then conveniently finding a "solution" after their "final solution" didn't solve the "jewish problem": create a Jewish state by displacing people who we value even less than the Jews (Palestinians), and then pretend we are the heroes who have always loved and supported the Jews. It's been a pretty seamless transition that accomplished what the West does really well - look like the good guys and ignore people who we value less. And then make sure that nobody learns the actual history of the Jewish people in school.
Israel, much like Ukraine of late, is caught between a rock and a hard place with Western support, particularly when the support is predicated on war profits and not seeking peace. And admittedly, if you really look into the treatment of Palestinians by Israel over the past 70 years, it's pretty easy to see why terrorism has been able to take root in Palestine.

True. Arabs were encouraged to stay as equal citizens of the state of Israel. Some Arabs are very much liked by most Israelis, such as the Bedouin's. I once met a Bedouin which I understood to be the general commanding Unit 585. Eating with the Bedouins is also a memorial experience. Lots of good food, sometimes they offer 50 different types of goat cheese.

The IDF is clearly not a Jewish religious organisation as some would like to portray it. I've lost touch with the numbers, but the IDF is mainly Jewish. It's complicated. Lots of Jews will not fight. The non Jews often are in their own units. 170,000 IDF total force 5,000 Palestinians 3% 1,500 bedouins 1%

I don't have those figures, but it must be close to zero. Things change in that part of the world. During the Shan, Iran was friendly to the Jews. Iran had strong relations with Israel till 1979. They allowed Jewish stores in Iran. Iran changed in 1979 during the Iranian Revolution, which abolished the country's monarchy and established the Islamic Republic of Iran. Thank religion for that.

Iranians (or as many prefer, Persians) largely would be grateful for a return of the Shah in the form of his son. At least the ones I've talked to would. It seemed obvious that the prior administration's emphasis on not giving them money for their "promises" to not build nukes and designating Iranians on a 'no-fly' list into the US, coupled with the extreme sanctions and designation of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a 'Terrorist Organization' were all attempts to foster an internal coup against Khomeini. Hard to know what the future holds.

It's a bit like saying you can blame Atheism for the damage that communists did to the world. The Iranian Revolution implemented Islamic law. Ayatollah Khomeini was a Shia Muslim cleric. Iran was more secular before the cleric took charge. The Iranian Revolution put religion in control of the country. That's why I said you have to "thank religion" for the change. It was a big step backwards. Iran BEFORE the Islamic revolution
Iran After Ayatollah Khomeini

I agree, Israel has gone way too far. They are making the Israeli situation much worse for generations to come. They are making more, not less enemies. Many younger Americans now do not support sending any more foreign aid or arms to Israel. Is there a better way to destroy Hamas? They went after Al Qaeda and got Osama bin laden without killing so many women and children. Why can't they do that here? There has got to be a better way than just bombing them all hoping to get Hamas leaders. If they can do it for bin laden, they can do it here. I don't think Israel government cares one bit about who dies in Palestine.

What good is that ruling though? How or what would they do to enforce it? It was a preliminary ruling, and is mainly symbolic. But it does sway world opinion.

Did the Taliban put women and children in front of them when fighting like Hamas, PLO and Hezbollah among others do?

I don't think Israel government cares one bit about who dies in Palestine. Al Qaeda is not a fair comparisan. The government of Gaza declared war on the State of Israel, so the government of Gaza has to be defeated. To defeat a terrorist government that hides behind civilians and has been preparing for this war for the last 17 years is not easy. If Israel intended genocide there would be no need for Israeli troops to die in Gaza, as is happening currently. From Article 7 of the Hamas founding document... www.memri.org/reports/hamas-charter-%E2%80%93-ideology-behind-massacreFrom THE DECLARATION OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL... www.gov.il/en/departments/general/declaration-of-establishment-state-of-israelI guess we all get to decide which side is the most reasonable.
