2000 years ago, Paul foretold about a GREAT fallen away to happen before Jesus 2nd Coming. I believe that happened in 1950-2022... Thanks, to Cherie K. and anti-2x2s books, and websites are out there are fulfilling the Great fallen away! Caused many 2x2s to LEAVE the fellowship believing the Truth and Way of Jesus started by a man William Irvine in 1897 made many lost their faith in God and turn from God and others to join the false churches. I've said it before....many left because of the dishonesty of people like you who point people to endless genealogy instead of pointing them to Christ. Honest people reject your endless genealogies and follow Jesus as their master (teacher). Friend, if you are honest, yield your life to God, Make the Christ your Master, choose the path He trod. Fear not to confess His name and serve Him now; Power is yours, as daily to His will you bow. I was in the work Montana 1990 when Truitt came and stayed with his parents after they excommunicated him from the Alaska staff. He attended many of our gospel meetings, I was a rookie in the work and didn't know the full story of his excommunication. Now, I would love to talk to him on the Trinity; Triune God and the Deity of Christ. |

I would have voted for 1897 William Irvine Founder date UNTIL a) I read John Long's Journal b) learned more on the socio-historical background that information and other preachers. That background included information on the Faith Mission, the Awakening in Scotland, various independent preaching movement and before that I could NOT see the forest before the trees. Now, I see William Irvine, John Long and the other first 2x2 workers as having separated from a much larger preaching movement in Scotland in the late 19th Century, one which culminated in schism because the main denomination would NOT accept the Holiness doctrine. As a "late date" fan at the present time, that would certainly make William Irvine the FIRST leader/overseer/head worker of the 2x2 movement. Founder? I have just NEVER liked calling William Irvine the Founder of the 2x2 movement. Nathan's selection of Edward Cooney quotes to Impartial Reporter in 1909 in the early days, and shed quite a bit of light on the early days of the movement, in my opinion. If it doesn’t, then it was never meant to be.If people belong to the organisation solely because they think membership is going to save them, then they should be set free. At an individual level, what is in you is more important than what you are in. This is what the early workers taught during the period when the fellowship grew the fastest. |

Just an observation, that I find interesting.
When most denominations have a major disagreement they split into two different denominations. This is the most common formula for forming a new denomination. However, in the 2x2 case it’s more like an abandonment of religion, not a split.
Also, it appears to me when someone changes from the “2x2 denomination” there seems to be a high number who give up on religion all together. My impression is the norm is when someone leaves one denomination they just change churches, not abandon their god belief. Perhaps the disillusionment is greater in this case. I am reminded of a worker sermon about - poisoning of the well.

I remember when I was in the faith that the workers more or less bragged that people might leave but they almost never joined other churches. Not sure why they saw this as a point of pride. For me - yes the well was poisoned. I was taught so well the corruption of churches that I have never really been able to give them a chance. |

How about you let people make informed and transparent decisions about the direction of their lives moving forward using all the factual information to hand, without all the clamoring and static you're creating as a diversion. I'm reminded of the quote... If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, its yours forever. If it doesn’t, then it was never meant to be.If people belong to the organisation solely because they think membership is going to save them, then they should be set free. At an individual level, what is in you is more important than what you are in. This is what the early workers taught during the period when the fellowship grew the fastest. Oh really?
