I'm going to go out on a limb here and will venture to guess that you have no enemies?
Stand for something and I think you'll have a change of heart.
I stand for a lot of things. I don't think I have any enemies except maybe you. I guess that's a possibility. But as far as I know I don't have enemies. If you think that a person can't have a different opinion that they stand up for and not have enemies because of it, then I really feel sorry for you. Maybe I'm not understanding your definition of 'enemy'?
I meant it more from a 'country' perspective. For instance, the 9/11 attack on freedom. Canada is a friendly nation because they are broadly pacifist, and its hard to argue with people who don't get involved or care about much. An example is that the US boycotted Cuba and had an embargo on trade, while Canada traded with Fidel Castro despite being a ruthless dictator who impoverished his own people. The spread and threat of communism was mainly challenged by the US, via Vietnam, Korea, cold war, etc.
But I reckon its applicable from a personal perspective too. There's pro life activist that wouldn't like or even hate a person who favors killing unborn babies, there's terrorist who would cut your throat for denouncing Allah, etc. So I suppose you do have enemies in the sense that others oppose, object, and reject what your all about. Stand for something and you'll have enemies, or at least people who despise what you stand for, even Jesus demonstrated that. Going along to get along generally requires a person with no firm principles or objectives of their own. In my case, I have met the enemy and he is me

In my case, I have met the enemy and he is me There are ways of standing behind what you believe and still not having to make an enemy out of people or countries for that matter. Canada stands firm on being about compromise, being peaceful, but we've also fought in two world wars when that didn't work. The US has a reputation for always saying what they believe is right, the right way to do things etc. and being a world bully. I am also sure you're right that anyone who thought I was an atheist that felt strongly enough about it, would likely see me as an enemy worthy of killing. Canada is known to be the world's peace keepers. When Harper turned us into something else no one was happy about it. That's who we are and what we stand for. But if we have to we will back it with force. The difference between the US and Canada is that for Canada force is the last resort.

The USA chooses not to trade with Cuba but will trade with Russia and Saudi Arabia. Which country is worse? It has used secretive methods to destabilize countries such as Argentina in particular and other South American countries so that the tradeing arrangements of USA companies will benefit. Other countries have done this in the past and some are doing that now. For instance Indonesia's annexation of Irian Jaya.

The SBA just sent me another email stating that they still haven't reviewed my application which was submitted over 5 weeks ago.. Not sure they grasp the urgency of small business owners, but then government never expedites anything. What's worse is that 2 employees are leaving, one left 5 weeks ago and is getting $835 per week in unemployment benefits through July, so I can't compete with a government that's paying her more not to work than I can afford to pay her to work. I've pretty much decided to close my business when my supplies run out, such a shame. I managed to cope with Covid-19 okay, but can't tolerate the greater evil, my government! jmo

I'm 64 yrs old and can probably afford to retire without social security benefits, but I prefer to keep working. Everything is actually still up in the air, but finding replacement employee's is currently the bigger obstacle. I've got help wanted ad's out now, with 12 resumes so far but no one experienced/qualified. A future job is a bridge I'll cross when I get to it. I'm a pretty good Trader, but that's been just a risky way to supplement my income. Went long big time with crude oil a week ago at $12 a barrel, so if it goes back to $40-$50, I'll be set for life. I'm not sure if I'm an entrepreneur or just a wide-eyed dreamer? Still wish I followed through with that face mask project years ago, but who knew (kidding of course)

Did that person tell you?
Qualifications for unemployment benefits in Illinois seem complicated.
If that person just left & was not laid off by you, how could they qualify?

That's the hardest part. The children. My oldest grandson misses school and his teacher badly. My youngest grandson misses me and is afraid I will die. That bothers me but he's heard the news about how 'old' people are the most vulnerable. It's complicated no matter what your age. He's 4 and is trying to be responsible. When we meet to watch them play or fly kites he starts to run towards me then stops and sits down and slowly gets up and goes the other direction. Breaks my heart.

My 6 year old granddaughter comes out and talks to me in my car in the parking lot. Her Dad takes her for hikes out and about and provides her with lots of distractions. And she loves to get on the phone and talk to people. It's difficult.

I didn't get all the specifics, I believe she said her husband is getting $835 per week and she's expecting the same.
"The IDES figures claimants' total unemployment benefits as being 47 percent of the earnings that they made in their two highest paid calendar quarters. To calculate their weekly benefit, IDES multiplies their total benefits by 47 percent. That figure is then divided by 26, for the maximum number of weeks that claimants can receive benefits."
Keep in mind that whatever the state determines you get, the federal government adds another $600 to that amount. Normally IL doesn't pay that much, but the big bonus comes from what the Fed's kick-in after your qualified by the state.
"With the significant expansion of unemployment insurance, the federal government is giving laid-off workers $600 per week in addition to their regular state benefits. The bill, known as The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, was passed by the Senate late last month."
She was laid-off due to the corona virus, by order of the state, so she qualified. She told me Friday that she has no intentions of returning, at least not until August when her benefits expire.
So if my employee & her husband both get $835 per week for 26 weeks, along with $1200 each and $500 for each of their 2 kids, that's a total of $46,820. She also told me that she got a 90 day extension on their mortgage, so no house payments for 3 months. That's my complaint, I can't compete with an incentive like that which encourages her not to work, and I don't really blame her for taking advantage of it.

Because you said she "left 5 weeks ago," which made it sound as if she left of her own volition.
That was why I ask you how she could get unemployment pay if she just left!
So, -now it is explained.
She was laid-off.
Now I am not blaming you for having to lay her off, but it would be nice to have it stated for what it was.

The state ordered all nonessential businesses to close the last week of March, so technically I didn't lay anyone off, the government did.
She actually told me this morning that she would be back at work, but she doesn't want to risk being caught working and lose all that money.
That's the frustrating part for me, I can't compete with the state. How do you stay in business when the government is soliciting your employees with extraordinary amounts of cash to entice them not to work?

It's awful how Fauci is being demonized.
Does Trump have any credibility left?
America was great when he took over the White House. He seems to be systematically demolishing its greatness.
I feel sad for the American people.
******************************************************************************
On January 22, CNBC asked the President whether he was worried about the virus becoming a pandemic.
"No, not at all," he said.
"We have it totally under control. It's one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It's going to be just fine."
At the start of February, having been convinced by his staff to announce restrictions on travel from China, Trump said the problem had been dealt with. On February 2, he told Fox News host Sean Hannity partial travel ban had "pretty much shut it down".
On February 14, he suggested the virus would simply go away as the United States headed into its summer months.
"There's a theory that, in April, when it gets warm – historically, that has been able to kill the virus," said Trump.
By February 26, there were 60 confirmed cases in the United States, and that number was rising steadily.
"We're going down, not up. We're going very substantially down, not up," Trump claimed, contradicting his own administration's health officials.
"As they get better, we take them off the list, so that we're going to be, pretty soon, at only five people. And we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time."
He also compared the coronavirus to influenza, arguing the latter kills tens of thousands of people a year without sparking any economic shutdowns.

Don't be surprised if he suddenly fires Fauci some day. I'm sure he would like to fire Fauci if it became politically expedient to do so. Fauci doesn't seem to get the memo that Trump is an expert on everything. Actually, the greatest expert the world has ever known. By far. Apart from being really sad, it's almost comical how Americans are saying Fauci shouldn't have so much influence because "he was never elected". As if being elected has anything to do with being an expert in one's field. Of all places, I would have expected America to go with evidence-based science.
