It was Banting first then he took on Best, Macleod and later Collip got involved. Only Banting and Macleod were recognized for their work with the Nobel. That's because he was a graduate student when he was with Banting. Banting shared the award money with him. He was there, he was part of the discovery and he knew that their team wanted it to be free so it is still very probable that he talked to Best who Banting was upset about him not being nominated for the award with them. www.nobelprize.org/prizes/themes/august-krogh-and-the-nobel-prize-to-banting-and-macleod/Letter from August Krogh to Göran Liljestrand dated February 4, 1924. “I understand that the prize to Banting and Macleod ignoring other coworkers has not been met with absolute consent on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean and that especially Banting is offended by the fact that Best was not included. However, I am convinced that the correct choice was made.” Best only did the chemical aspects AFTER Banting made the discovery.

Banting and Best were the discoverers of Insulin. Charles Best didn't die until 1978. It's true that they wanted insulin available to everyone. He very well could have talked to Best. It was Banting first then he took on Best, Macleod and later Collip got involved. Only Banting and Macleod were recognized for their work with the Nobel. That's how it works. The hired crew only worked on the discoverers theories. We undoubtedly have such members of hired crews in our forum.

My advisor was working on crosstalk in the innate mammalian immune system between pro and anti inflammatory cytokines. He discovered a class of messengers that were expressed in low levels with either stimulus, but hyperexpressed in the presence of both. His hope was that this class of proteins would shed light on the mechanisms of inflammatory diseases such as Crohn's disease. His initial discoveries were made in cell culture, where you can see effects outside the body but can't really judge what the genes do inside a living model. So, he spent grant money and considerable effort and time designing a "knockout mouse", where the novel gene he co-discovered was edited out and therefore not active at all. And.. the stinking mice were happy and healthy, showing no signs of inflammatory disorders and seemingly none the worse for missing a gene. So he had to write about how the gene represents a species specific divergence in action between mouse and human tissue cultured monocytes. I was his first graduate student, and did later work on the exact mechanics of the regulation of these genes. Published in low impact journals. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1951479/

Actually a benefit of sticking with the scientific method, isn't it?

This is one of those "facepalm" moments : The White House sends a tweet saying, thanks to Biden, seniors are getting the highest social security checks in history. Twitter added context: The SS checks are determined in part by inflation, and adding the high inflation into the calculus did indeed make SS checks the highest they've ever been. The White House deleted the tweet shortly after. 😂😂😂😂 Here's CNN fact checking.... it's odd to see such a concise and pointed rebuke of something Biden did coming from CNN.... kind of took me back - I was afraid only FOX would cover it and nobody would believe it then. www.cnn.com/2022/11/02/politics/fact-check-biden-white-house-tweet-social-security-inflation/index.html

Was that you Ipsy and is this the drug and the company? www.raceoncology.com/bisantrene/It was me, but I don't believe it was the drug - his work has largely been in polymerase substrate analogs. The cancer part anyway. I'll be honest - I only have the expertise to process about 2/3 of his work. He is a genius in synthesis pathways, and I... well, let's just say my Intermediate Inorganic Professor used to see me in the hall, shake his head and mutter, "not good, not good" as he passed me. His bio on our site - www.cleveland.edu/employee/faculty/dr-amirsoheil-negahbani/Besides the accolades on his bio (which are not even in their entirety), he's one of the better people and friends I've known. He loves gardening, and every spring we discuss our gardening plans. 😄 His gardens, raised beds, are meticulously monitored in terms of soil chemistry, lighting and temperature. My planted garden competes with the dandelions and the bind-weed, and any beans, tomatoes or peppers we end up with have had to fight tooth and nail.

Looks like a good option. Less myeloid toxicity too - which is huge for helping keep ones adaptive immunity during treatment. More and more, the outlook is brighter for cancer patients. I love the dandelions 😃 Our red-footed tortoises, bearded dragon and Dutch Rabbit love them too! The Dragon prefers the yellow heads. As good of reason as any not to use herbicides.

"For this claim Biden received the 'bottomless Pinocchio,' which the Post describes as 'false or misleading statements repeated so often that they became a form of propaganda.'"He also claimed that gas prices were 40 cents lower than they are (saying $3.39 instead of $3.80), and that they were $5/gallon when he took office. They weren't. They were $2.48/gallon. I think the funniest part of Biden's presidency so far is his tweet that he delivered the largest increase in SS benefits for seniors in a decade. His prescription drug policies saved about $5/month, while his inflation (upon which SS payouts are partially based) caused an increase of around $145/month in benefits. "The White House was forced into an embarrassing walk back Tuesday, deleting the tweet that claimed Biden was responsible for seniors getting the biggest increase in Social Security checks in a decade. As fact checkers were quick to point out, the increase is based on the rate of inflation and required by law. Next year benefits will increase 8.7 percent thanks to 40-year-high inflation."Another way to say this is..... "We haven't had inflation cause benefits to soar this high since when I was Vice President, and I've delivered the highest inflation since Jimmy Carter!" Policies, this is about the funniest thing I've ever heard someone try to brag about.

Third, when a political party uses its power to expand government aid to all corners of the population, into every industry, and for all sorts of reasons, this argument is particularly evil. Get everyone on the dole, and then you’ve bought everyone’s right to criticize any of your policies! This is literally an effort to force the population into servility."

youtu.be/C6Dh5qxgdRsThey already give him cards of where he's supposed to sit, what he's supposed to say, and exactly which reporters to take questions from. But how about now, when he struggles to read a card? This is elder abuse. Big Guy should be using his Chinese kickbacks to retire, where he can say racist things and sniff little girls' heads in peace. If he wasn't a plagiarizing racist colossal moron when he was in his right mind, it'd be easier to watch him run my country into the ground.

Just thank god he got elected last time instead of the other guy. It was the only option y'all had.

No one can listen to him saying drug dealers should have a 'short trial' and then executed after it and not see just how crazy he truly is. I thought it was amusing wondering what all the cocaine users in the crowd at his announcement thought of that policy!

I believe the recent elections have given us a decent hope that the American people are sufficiently fed up with him to ever elect him again. The really unknown now is whether the GOP can keep him from getting elected sometime in the future. He has so damaged the party that no one knows what the hell they're capable of doing anything constructive any more. This is not going to be party politics as established.

He's lost his big donors so that doesn't look good for him. He is about 50 million behind DeSantis. He made up several PACS that he signed up his followers to monthly donations but it's going into a pac that he can't use for his campaign because of the way he set it up. So when he asks his faithful to donate they will look at what they are doing and come to the conclusion that they are already donating so they're good to go. They won't understand that he has no access to it for what he wants. He is also stuck now with small donors with the large ones headed to DeSantis. He recently tried to move 20 mil into his other new pac that he can use for his campaign and the FEC immediately filed a complaint because you can't move money after you started campaigning. That is a bit of a grey area I think though. He may have been having rallies and campaigning without actually announcing, but I don't think they can prove that. If they can't the transfer of money would be legal as far as I know.

No he's not normal and jail time would never stop him, and I don't see him ever doing any serious jail time anyway. Hitler and Mussolini were voted in after all. People have fallen for the rhetoric 'you are special' and they 'are the enemy' so often throughout history and then they find out they've voted in 'the enemy' when their freedoms are taken away by a guy that turns out to be an authoritarian. I honestly don't see how they can't believe these guys when they outright tell you what they want to do?

I was talking about how upset his Q supporters would be about his announcement and sure enough, there are a lot of angry and confused Q trump supporters. Some are confused because they really believed he was working as president behind the scenes so how could he say he was going to run for president in 2024. Then there is the other supporters that say his announcement means he conceded that he lost the election and that he's asking them to vote for him again in a system that is 'rigged' 'fraud' etc. So these people are going to have to regroup and figure out how to justify is announcement to continue to support him. Falling for untruths creates chaos for these 'believers' lol.

And the funny thing about Americans, they have a kind of juvenile fascination and affection for people who have the arrogance to operate outside the law with a flourish of bravado that they become national heroes. e.g. The Iran-Contra fiasco. As an American, I can honestly say this is an astute observation.
