I never really thought about any "doctrine" . I just know that they brought the gospel and I accepted Christ. I do realize that they think this is the "only" way but if they thought others could be saved outside of the fellowship then why would they even continue. As long as they keep bringing the gospel to people they are doing their job. We then have to live our own life and decide what is scriptural. Hi Sunshine, I think that a majority of the friends believe as you do. I too believe that I was brought the gospel through the workers and I accepted Christ through their preaching and my upbringing. And that is a wonderful thing. But, I have come to also see things that aren't so wonderful, such as the deception to cover for things that are not of God in the fellowship. As one born in Christ, surely we want no part of lies or the continuation of them, because we know that those things are not of the Father. I cannot abide a bully. And the workers turn into bullies often times when they feel threatened. This is a normal human reaction. So, when they feel threatened, the workers may do as they did in the case of the fellow in Texas, or in Alberta, or in New Zealand, or wherever.... they excommunicate honest people seeking to do what is right so that they (the workers) can continue to perpetuate the myth that they are God's only true Apostles and that we, the professing, are God's only saints in the earth. Some of the workers are real jackasses and jerks. And some are adulterers. And some are rapists. Some are child molesters. And these are the fellows that preach that they are God's only true servants on earth? Yeah, right. God sure has a wicked sense of humor if that is the case. Some workers have literally gone from molesting a child to speaking in a convention a few hours later. The workers and friends mock the Catholic priests, Jimmy Swaggert, and Jim Bakker, while IDOLIZING and EXCUSING men of the EXACT SAME ILK. (But, shh.... such talk is blasphemy... or at least the workers want us to FEEL NERVOUS about speaking the truth about SUCH "HOLY" MEN... as if we were SPEAKING AGAINST GOD. Bull crap. And the next time a worker says or implies such at a convention, it would be refreshing if the entire congregation all said BULL CRAP in unison and pelted the fellow with rotten tomatoes.) There are great workers. Humble, meek, kind, loving, spiritual, Godly, holy, seekers of righteousness, etc. And then there are the others- the ones that are not. And we can discern them by their fruit. But, let's not pretend that just because someone says that they are a worker that they deserve accolades based on title alone. There is truth in what you are saying and I agree with some of it based on what I have read on the internet but not on what I have personally experienced in real life.

How can anyone be comfortable with the status of things the way they are if they know that status may well be built on a lie?

My Mom just gave me all the notes she inherited from her MIL. I have a set of notes from Jack Carroll (noted as from San Diego Convention, 10/6/1951), in which is says: You have often heard that there are two fundamental of the faith of Jesus from which we dare not depart. The first is the preacher without a home and the second is the church in the home and only in the home.
Jack Carroll was real clear on what 'the faith of Jesus' consisted of. Workers don't preach it that clearly any more, they are more subtle.

Uh, virgo.... a fellow in Texas did just that and he was excommunicated by the overseer for the very thing that you claim that the workers in your area of the world believe- that one does not have to believe in the "workers without a home and the church in the home". Can you PM me the name of your overseer and let me send him an email or mail and ask him if others in other faiths can be considered our brothers in sisters in Christ even though they may be Baptist, Episcopalian, Catholic, or whatever- as long as they have personally accepted Christ as their Lord just as we have done, albeit, through a worker? If he replies in the affirmative, which is what you are implying, then why was the fellow in Texas recently excommunicated for believing the same thing? And why would the overseer of Texas, along with thousands of other workers throughout the world, be preaching a different message than what the workers in your area preach? As you say in your part of the world, "good on ya" if that is the case.... I hope to see a PM shortly from you so that we can get the good message out that the workers in your part of the world have dropped the devilish living witness doctrine and are now promoting Christ alone and not themselves, that they have made Christ the cornerstone and not themselves. [/ quote] Virgo, exactly why I have no desire to ask... Look where it got BM. I am comfortable with the status of things the way they are. Why don't You ask about these things and see what happens.. already have spoken about it to a worker and his reply to me was you believe what you believe but make sure what you believe is of God and not of man don't forget that what we believe is between us and God not between us and others, also we should not try to foist what we believe onto others

Do you believe that the overseer of Texas, Lyle S., should have excommunicated someone for not believing in the "preachers without a home and the church in the home?" What did you tell the worker that you believe? Again, what was the worker's name? If you are afraid to "out" him, then again, this speaks to the paranoia, and the shame of openly confessing the living witness doctrine, that at least in Texas, is a requirement for being a member in good standing within the fellowship.

There is, admittedly, somewhat of an internal conflict, but the good outweighs the bad, and so far it hasn't created any personal problems, as long as I don't start dwelling on the bigger picture .....which is probably inevitable since being on TMB.

I can rectify the conflict simply- am I for the little ones in Christ, or am I for the bullies (bad workers and friends)? One exercise, that was therapeutic for me. . . begin calling a "spade a spade". If the workers act like a bully- call them a bully. If they are a child molester, call them a child molester. If they are lying. . . call them a liar. If they act like jackasses, call them a jackass. (I wrote one overseer who had bullied my family, and told him that he was acting like a jackass.) The workers that are bullies WANT the friends to believe that to speak against them is equal to speaking against God. Hogwash.

It doesn't matter what group anyone is involved with, there will be plenty of negatives and if someone chooses to focus only on the negatives, it will be a miserable experience. In fact, that's a great way to have a miserable life. It's far better to be realistic: appreciating the good while dealing with the bad.

I remain a 2x2 because I find it a spiritually helpful place for myself and family. I have seen evil within the fellowship, and try to do what I can to help exorcise that evil so that other families, such as many of my friends that have left the fellowship because of worker arrogance, can continue to enjoy the great aspects of the 2x2 framework. However, based on what I have observed (albeit limitedly and most certainly 2x2 conditioned), other fellowships/denominations are FAR worse in corruption, unbiblical soundness, preacher arrogance, etc. I will occasionally listen to a preacher on the radio as I drive. For the most part, almost every preacher I hear sounds as if they have never read a bible in their life. With one exception, Dr. David Jeremiah. He sounds like a worker because he preaches with a Spirit led message. The scripture tells us to try the Spirits. To me, that also means to try the Spirit of the workers. They do not get a free pass. The spirit of cover up, bad doctrine (living witness doctrine), arrogance, bullying, sexual misconduct, etc., are definitely not of the Lord. And those things,if not dealt with, will continue to cause a stink to the apothecary's ointment. I feel no shame in pointing out the dead flies in the ointment.

Dennis, the "not my problem" attitude among the friends and workers to almost any problem is a problem and a shame. And a damning indictment against them because Jesus made it plain of who our neighbor is in his parable of the Good Samaritan- the one who helps. Some of the workers are as heartless as they come. We have far too man Pharisees and not enough saints in our midst- especially in the overseer ranks where Phariseeism seem to rule rather than the Lord.

There are a number of churches whose pastors teach clearly from the Bible with power just like Dr. David Jeremiah (whose church is huge). The radio station I listen to is chock full of wonderful teachers who have obviously studied the Bible way more than most of the workers--and online there is a lot of excellent teaching. I suppose it depends on location as to what you can find.

And I know that the same exists in my area, if I were to have the stomach for wading through the hirelings before finally finding a spirit led church, but I really don't feel a need to do such. We are quite content having meeting in our home and having the workers visit from time to time as they can, for which we are always grateful for their time.

Whatever the controversy of the day is, I am sure to hear about it, whether it be against Obama, homosexuals, abortion, blah, blah, blah. . . that is what seems to be important with the church going crowd here. . . and not necessarily how Christ is helping them to be patient, kind, temperant, loving, long suffering, etc.

I try to make a conscious choice daily when I wake up to "go first" in demonstrating forgiveness, compassion, understanding, generosity, kindness, cheerfulness, positivity, and love. I fail lots of times at being these things all the time, but I find that at least concentrating on them first thing sends my intent in the right direction. Then it's just a matter of remembering when my buttons get pushed lol.

Nope, the workers, including the overseer have visited us, called to check in on us, and even some workers from another state drove down just to say hi. We were sent the lists for the special meetings, conventions, and were invited to the gospel meetings that the workers setup nearby. If we have been blacklisted, the workers are not making it obvious. So, if the workers count me as an enemy, then they are doing what Christ said, "love your enemies." But, of course, they are not my enemy, and nor am I theirs. What did you mean by "this may be a meeting with a lot of costs."?

I have a feeling that the "costs" are that you have a lovely large house and a extra car for the workers to drive and quite a bit of money to spread around amongst the workers & pay for improvements at convention grounds etc., etc.
Have a catastrophe that leaves you bankrupt and see how much longer that you can say all the things that you have posted.
I doubt very much that you have just a small two bedroom home with one car and are a blue collar worker.
Mind giving us some of these stats instead of just how many workers have visited you?

Find yourself in bankruptcy for some unforeseen reason and not be able to do all that and I doubt that you could continue to have the permission of the workers to be able to do and say what you have said in your recent posts.
I doubt very much if you have a small two bed house and only one car.
Would you care to tell us some of those stats about what you have or don't have, instead of how many workers come to your house?
