Still not what we were discussing, You need to go back and look at our posts. Yes I know, you are looking at something to pin on God that it is some how His fault. But most of the people who have died in my opinion would have been Godless anyway. Well, -so much for your opinion.

So does that mean you owe your freedom to "athiests" !!!!! Many who were in the war did not fight. One cannot be a follower of Christ and kill, He has made that very clear. But there is the provision of repentance.

He actually wept over Jerusalem, God’s chosen city. It was the people of Jerusalem not the scribes and Pharisees he wept over. It was not bricks and mortar He wept over, the scribes and the Pharisee were the people of Jerusalem. I would have to wonder how many others there were if not scribes and the Pharisee and those of similar ilk? Sadducees, general run of humanity even Greeks.

Personally, I'm not concerned about it at all. Nothing the bible states has impact on my life anymore and for me, yes that's freedom. What I don’t understand is IF YOURE NOT bothered about it why mention it? It is it just a modus operandi to put doubt on the Bible? Isn’t that your real reason to keep posting adverse comments about biblical scriptures? Because I am on a board that the bible is the topic possibly? I have my views of the bible you have yours. We are on a forum of mixed beliefs. Why should you say the bible is inerrant and then expect me to just say 'yup it sure is' when I don't believe that? Why is it you think your god needs your protection? He's all powerful. If he doesn't like what I'm saying let him deal with it. There is no need for you to be offended just because I disagree with you. There are likely non religious things we disagree about also but do you feel offended by them just because I look at them differently? You get so upset if anyone says anything about your god that you don't agree with. Even other theists. If he exists and if you're right then it will all be known in the end, right? I'm really sure if he exists and he's all powerful he can take care of himself and you getting offended on his behalf just makes it harder for you, which I'm sure he wouldn't want, right?

Because it came up in conversation on here. It doesn't impact my life. I've never thought about it at all until Curly posted about it. The only impact on my life from the bible is when theists try to make all citizens live under their beliefs that come out of the bible or the koran etc. I don't appreciate that in the least and yes, that does impact my life. I wish they would stop trying to change laws to meet their personal sacred books beliefs. So maybe you're right. The Koran and the Bible do impact my life because their believers try to impact my life. Why take your angst out in us here in TMB? We’re not trying to affect your desires for your life, as far as we’re concerned you just go ahead and live like you desire! You see, I don't see it as angst, you do. I have different opinions just like you and just like you I express them. I am not trying to change you and yet I hear often on here that I should change my beliefs to coincide with theists beliefs. So I can see possibly why you think atheists expressing their opinions might seem like we're trying to change theists, because that's exactly what theists are trying to do with us. Bring us back to God. If you're doing it you likely think we're doing it too. But personally that's not my aim. My aim is to discuss what I believe and if anyone agrees, bonus.

I think the point is this. If the bible that is written by man inspired by God is wrong about simple things like bats and palms, how can one trust the more important parts to be true either? I think the point is here that people are becoming incensed over the description given many thousands of years ago when there wasn’t the known classification of birds/ mammals that we know now. Please pardon the writer who had other important things on his mind then being sure to classify every creature according to scientific data that wasn’t available in those days This is pure idiocy to make a big deal about it. And no I don’t think God had in mind at that time it was important to make sure classifications of birds and mammals be mentioned in this particular instance. After all, he wanted something left for the wise and prudent to do in the years to come or they’d be up building another Tower of Babel! I see absolutely no atheist incensed by the inaccuracies of the bible. None. What I see is a valid question stating if there are some things provably wrong in the bible is that not need for concern about what else (possibly more important) that might be wrong in the bible. If you're not concerned fine. Neither am I.

How petty! You forget the writers were from many, many years ago before such genre or classifications had been figured out. That’s like calling a 1850’s history book totally unreliable because it doesn’t address the Gulf war!

I know that it will get fierce and ugly and terrible until God wraps it all up. I hope they’re still alive when God shows them his wrath. Maybe then their hatred for believers can be turned onto themselves. Wow now that's a good example of love. We have different opinions and because of that you really hope that we suffer for it. We're not hurting theists, and have no intention of hurting theists, but how often do we hear theists on here hoping that we suffer in the end. That they can be there to see our faces as we're thrown into hell (Wally). That we feel his wrath because we had the audacity to have our own opinions and voice them in the presence of a theist? You can say whatever you want about us and that's okay because you justify it with 'my god says I should stand up for him and we are supposed to warn people they are going to hell'. But we say anything about what we believe, we are somehow persecuting theists. Why is that?

I’m not saying anything about suffering in that comment, I’m literally hoping that someday you’ll realize all the scoffing and scorning you’ve heaped upon the Bible, God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the believers will come home to where you’ll realize just how wrong you are! Otherwords if you don’t believe the Bible then leave it alone period. Don’t question it. For it sure looks like you truly aren’t sure of what you believe when you do nothing but scoff and scorn anything to do with the Bible. Most people who don’t believe/like something and haven’t the power to change it just leave it alone!

Ah, but it has gone on though out the history of Christianity many, many times and my point was you said he would "wrap it up." When?
How long must humanity have to suffer for a story about a God who is suppose to be all powerful, yet just lets the carnage go on and on and HE does about it is to give the people the "Holy Spirit" to help them suffer through it? God works best with broken hearts....and the purest Gold comes from the hottest fire.... And that my dear is utter BS. Would you come to Thor if you were going through a bad time? Allah? No, and it's because you don't believe they exist. So how in the world do you think an atheist is going to be tempted to be a theist of something that does not exist for them?

I'm not aware of any yet. I said try. Canada is very good at separating church and state. We do have to fight to keep it that way. It's not like theists in Canada haven't tried to block gay marriage, abortion etc. And we have to fight Muslims trying to get Sharia law in place in their communities. I am glad to be a Canadian citizen because so far it doesn't impact us too much. And now that churches are starting to have to pay some taxes, that is becoming fairer too. But in the US it is impacting atheists lives with all the new laws stating that you can't get an abortion even in cases of rape and incest. The new law that is going to put many women at risk if they have an ectopic pregnancy and the doctors are now mandated by law to remove it and try and implant it into the womb or get charged with murder. Thanks for reply , Using your example , Agreed, majority of believers are likely anti abortion , although MANY are not, and there are MANY atheists also antiabortion , so for myself , I don’t view it altogether as theist vs atheist issue . No concensus in either group on ANY issue ,,except on that ONE particular belief or unbelief in god , so hard to put “blanket blame” or credit on any passed or defeated laws , based on that distinction, of being theist or atheist. Dangerous ideologies and laws are promoted by people in both groups, and should be fought against , but not on the basis on whethet they Are atheist or theist . Alvin Ps - the danger of the new antiabortion law you mentioned affects theist women just as negatively as atheist women Pretty much agree. And I'm afraid that the fanatics in the states are trying their hardest to make the rules for everyone, theists and atheists. Rules that I think many theists wouldn't like to live under just as much as atheists.

Christians can do bad things just like atheists. We don't get to say they weren't atheists if they were, so why do you get to say they aren't Christian if they were?

A history book is not a prophecy book and it's written by men not inspired by a God. Not a good analogy.

If there is a Christian God, he's a wrathful jealous God that has no trouble making those who don't believe in him suffer. Of course we'd be suffering. Why should you be able to quote your bible and then say we can't comment? That is rather biased don't you think?
