Anybody with lots of workers previously friended on Facebook would know. Either there is really a global crackdown underway, or these workers are trying to deceive their staff and the local followers by falsely implying that this is part of the new "standard of the kingdom" elsewhere. I found it interesting that the note had concerns about correspondence from other countries. The use of Internet technology is increasing at a rapid pace by the workers in our area . I have received a number of invites to a live link for friends funerals . Big changes and for the better. Younger workers are very savvy using this technology and participate fully . Alvin

I found it interesting that the note had concerns about correspondence from other countries. Me as well... I was under the impression that the "truth" being the same was one of the selling points... Why no communication then? What a bunch of ignoramuses. My suspicion is that the "problem" for them has been with someone from another country who has wild and bizarre visions that aren't supported by the friends and workers anywhere.

Alvin You're right. It seems that as long as the workers somehow overseeing the communication they have no problem with it. It's primarily the scope of communication beyond their ability to control that bothers them greatly. My own situation was a good example. An e-mail group was fine until someone reported that I was organizing an unconvention for people who had been kicked out of meetings, and the rumor soon morphed to concerns that I'd be bringing in dissenting workers (who I knew nothing about) who would be misleading the local friends. And all the local friends were told not to have anything to do with my e-mail friends when they came to town to visit. In fact, not a thing I wrote above applied to our weekend picnic with friends from other states. But you would never imagine the prolonged panic it caused among the workers … including overseers in I have never met in far away places that I have never been.

That was indeed a very strange and weird situation you experienced. Totally crazy . Workers having Facebook accounts and pages is quite normal in America now, and not so unusual to have them “shared” with nonprofesding people etc . I imagine the “control” over the Philippine friends will work for a while but very hard to keep the lid on the brewing going on in the pot , and it will likely boil over in time

It was MY picnic, and yes, everyone invited was professing. I told the workers that MANY times and they insisted every time that I was having a convention for dissenters. One worker even suggested I prepare a program on who was going to speak in order. What do you do after months of this kind of conversation. I felt like yelling at them and kicking them out of the house.

Burning the books didnt work, keeping off the internet didn't work, I wonder how much this latest tactic will work. I think it will work just fine. If you are a young person, the workers will just refuse to baptize you until you delete that Instagram account.

And that is the reply satan would dearly love. Nope - that's introducing a false argument.
The workers have gone so far as to putting in writing an edict that is wrong, is not theirs to do. This is like the 1960's where they tried to ban "the wireless". They haven't just suggested that maybe limiting FB's usage, or avoiding it's pitfalls; no they are banning the Friends from being on it, telling them to shut down their accounts. This behaviour only has the affect of driving people away. Maybe, that's what Satan would love!
So what is the alternative, accept it and allow Phariseeism to grow?
Like the old days of Nathan MacCarthy and Men's walk-shorts ban, trying to discuss it will only get one labelled as an iconoclast, or heretic. I refused to accept this idiotic ruling of his, and discussed it with John Brasted at the time. In his words, "good on you, nothing wrong with shorts. Nathan seems to have issues with anything that show more skin than the wrist or ankle. Stupid fella, just ignore him." Of course, NM's sycophants accepted it, and self righteousness about men's clothing was born.
Tyranny must be disobeyed, because the alternative allows tyranny to succeed. I know people who have left the church because of this sort of interference, and while I do not say they were necessarily justified, I do not blame them either.
This is of course, assuming the whole FB and Social Media thing is in fact true.
And telling them to get stuffed, I don't mean literally, but simply refuse to go along with the ban. And with-holding support is a lever to use, when all else fails.
And like i said, And that is the reply satan would dearly love.

The directive was not just to stay off the professing related groups. The letter clearly instructs you to delete your accounts altogether.

Baptism is a very effective bargaining chip for workers. There's another one too: appointing an elder.

Will they be shutting fellowship meetings too? Social media is a form of fellowship. Unbelievable how insulated they want members to be. What are they afraid of? The Truth coming out? Don't they trust that people can make their own choices and think for themselves? I remember the days when they preached about the evil internet. I've only heard of one sermon on the evils of childhood sexual abuse though. Seems as if something is brewing in the Philippines. Cutting communication is the mark of a cult and control. A fellow labourer seems highly questionable. I think this is a case of shutting the barn door after the horses have escaped! They can't just forget what they now know. The genie is out of the bottle. Okay too many cliches...

Okay too many cliches... I've been told by a worker that the "friends" soon forget things. I finally got through to them that it was them, not the friends, who were trashing me everywhere, and the consolation was: "Just be patient because the friends will soon forget what has been said about you."

Interesting how this has caused such a stir, especially among the "ex's". In NSW, at one time, police officers had to have unrecognisable social media accounts if they chose to have them, I guess it is the same today. Many high profile public servants are asked to either not have accounts or have ones only recognised by friends and family and not have public accounts. The workers would not be the first to recommend closing social media accounts, judges have done it, psychologists have done it, clergy in other churches have done it, police officers visit schools and make the suggestion to help alleviate cyberbullying and I believe Ms Markle had to delete ALL her social media accounts before marrying Prince Harry....however if you're a worker don't dare suggest it!! Funny how we accept some things but not others isn't it?

You make some interesting points. If you will re-read the OP, you will notice that the workers didn't suggest it--they requested it, and requests by Workers are pretty much demands.

Encourage people to stay off social media sites. As long as they give me a heads up so I can stock up on popcorn.

It now appears that the new group created by Rey Aragones called, "True Friends - Globally" has disappeared. One report is that he changed it to a "secret" group. I think you're right, I saw it yesterday, but it appears gone now. I was a member of true friends for a while. It was interesting to say the least. I remember quite a bit of commiserating and moaning about unprofessing relatives. I removed myself, before they found out that I wasn't professing anymore and deleted me.
