Quote - 'When I read this account Paul's words to Timothy came to mind: "Now the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared. " 1 Tim 4:1-2 Peter Morrison, in his pride, clearly doesn't care who he hurts and misleads."
When I read this account I thought "Don't believe everything you read, especially on the Internet, and especially on the TellingTheTruth site. Now Ross, if someone put up the counter narrative - the other side to the story - then sure, you can make up your mind, but only then.
But you won't get a chance to make up your mind - it's been made for you.
Remember, the TTT is not a truth site, any more than anti-vac, feminist, home-birther, pro-Trump, anti-Obama, Michael Moore mocumentaries and so on are telling the truth.
You should have figured this out. Didn't I already point out on another thread how the TTT misrepresented us with our own doctrines?

Today I was given the following letters to post. Dr. Mahim Mendis' exit letter with attachments was mailed last week to 30 households of English speaking friends in Sri Lanka. There were about 75 friends professing in Sri Lanka, but that number has decreased this past year. A full account of the activities in Sri Lanka will be posted later on TTT & TLC Website, some of which are mentioned in Mahim's letter. The workers are currently away on a two week retreat in the hill country, following their convention held in January, 2017. www.tellingthetruth.info/plogger/index.php?level=picture&id=2504

Heck!
There have been debates on this Board for a number of years now about people giving priority to either Truth or Unity.
Seems like we have a case here, where someone couldn't care two hoots about providing either.
Glad I'm not living in that country. I feel so sorry for the upset the people over in Sri Lanka must be feeling at present. Time for Peter M to be moved to East Timor.

"sent on a religious mission" ... sent from where? By God from heaven. God has to put the love in the workers hearts to labor overseas, to learn a new language, culture so they can help the natives. headquarters somewhere? We are said to have no headquarters on earth, so how can they be classified as "missionaries" If the workers "overseas" are called missionaries then that seems to imply that headquarters are in North America somewhere. The 2x2 have no ONE central headquarter like the RCC has the Vatican, Italy. The headquarter is which ever countries the workers came from and the overseers, who sent the workers to which ever country need them oversea to labor as missionaries/preachers/pastors.One of the flimsiest responses I have seen from you. Even though I rarely agree with you at least you normally go into a lot detail and soemehow it might make sense to you. But on this particular thread you seem to even give up yourself

It's fascinating that Pruebert hasn't commented on this thread yet. Two by two church ministers backed by trust funds making false allegations against the friends, telling lies and slandering others, and engaging in spiritual abuse? Is this their church that they call "The Truth"? Yep, and that's the truth.

Is it just me, or does that entire notorized letter seem like a CYA move to avoid potential litigation?

Is it just me, or does that entire notorized letter seem like a CYA move to avoid potential litigation? It's just you... It was a method Lionel and Mahim insisted upon to clear their names because lies had been spread among the F&W that they had abused their positions as trustees in mishandling funds. After getting the official letter, they resigned. Mahim had been excommunicated earlier. Did you read Mahim's letter? Edited 2/26/17: They did not resign. "To clarify on the trust, Lionel, Mahim and Andrew continue to be the trustees as nobody has asked them to resign so far. There are 3 court cases ongoing against the Melder property filed by a politically powerful neighbour. Lionel has been appearing for these cases on behalf of the trust. None of the other professing people would have the clout to follow up on these cases which can go on for many years. According to the trust deed only the current trustees can appoint new trustees to replace them. It is very complicated. As it is Peter has to request for money from Lionel in writing and Lionel has all authority to question him."

It is incredibly hard for anyone to clear their name after accusations have been made against them by workers, who unfortunately all too often spread lies and deceit about those they wish to discredit.
Why is this the modus operandi of so many workers in so many places? I have heard this type of story far too many times now from broken and hurting people who used to be part of this way.
If you are professing and someone near you tries to tell you what the workers have done - please don't simply reject this information or turn a blind eye. Investigate further.

There are 3 sides to every story. Two sides and God's side. Too often we don't hear or know both sides of the story. Don't judge the book by it's cover. You must KNOW both sides of the story, before you can get a clear picture of what really is going on. If you don't know the full story, then all you hear or know just rumors and hearsay. That can be an excuse for enabling atrocities. If you want both sides of the story, you only need to ask. If the abuser refuses to give his/her side of the story then you have your answer.

In this case, all it would take to dispel the lies would be to present the document. The problem is that often the person doesn't know what is being said behind their back so when they start being snubbed by friends and/or workers they haven't got a clue as to why. Perhaps we need to get better at asking people why they behave the way they do. And get better at confronting ungodliness, like Paul did: Galatians 2:11 When Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12 For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. 13 The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.
14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?
15 “We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles 16 know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.
17 “But if, in seeking to be justified in Christ, we Jews find ourselves also among the sinners, doesn’t that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! 18 If I rebuild what I destroyed, then I really would be a lawbreaker.
19 “For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”

The whole thing sounds like Caucasian workers stuffing things up in and among a race and culture they do not understand, but insist on imposing their views on. Arrogance and ignorance. I feel for those who have been wronged, and those who's work is being undone.
To sit back and say it is God working is a an ostrich's cop out - a bit like Pilate's hand washing. In the meantime injustices are allowed to happen in the name of a good and just God, and that surely has to be a form of blasphemy.
While there may be multiple sides to a story, not all of them are right or wrong, but there can be one right and one wrong. Sometimes some people can be just plain horrible, or obnoxious, and/or completely wrong. If PM is nor wrong, then I'd like to know where he is right.

You have the story on the letter on 2x2 church letterhead, signed by workers and witnessed by an attorney. What else do you want to hear? No friends are going to ask workers to go down this path unless people have spread incorrect information about the elders misappropriating funds from the so-called Snell Trust. And no worker is going to sign it unless they want to settle down a mess that they have created. What is so-called "Truth" doing with Trust Funds, Trustees, church property, registered name, when they publicly claim (and lie) that they have no such thing. Nate - it's good to give people the benefit of the doubt. But when it comes to the workers many friends give workers 50 million times the benefit of doubt - to the point they would never doubt them. That's how high control groups such as religious sects or cults work. Peter Morrison telling the Sri Lanka friends to fall into line because "he is responsible for their salvation..." should be enough for anyone to know that he is not one of God's true servants. The overseers having the trust funds of the friends money, some elders or the friends overseers it for years and years. You can read that from Evan Jones testimony in 1994 to the court. The foreigners workers in Sri Lanka are leaving that country if they didn't have a church registered name to back them up, just like Willis Propp. Incorporation, Corp. in 1994 so their workers could stay in so and so country. Are they there on tourist visas or work visa?

The interesting thing about these workers in Sri Lanka and other countries is they do not preach to people of other religions such as Bhudism, Islam or whatever. Rather they seek out people who already profess to be Christians and convert them to the Twoobie sect.

The notarized letter was dated 1/30/17. I guess I missed where Lionel and Mahim insisted that the workers issue a notarized statement to clear their names. The notarized letter appeared to come forth unsolicited, which is why I thought it was a proactive CYA (cover you a...) move on their part.

I figured that was the case! That info was provided earlier in detail at this post on this thread: professing.proboards.com/post/722134I'm repeating it here in case others missed it: I have been given the following to post re: Nugegoda, Sri Lanka Convention GroundsThe "Melder House" is located adjoining the former convention grounds in Nugegoda, Sri Lanka. The house was owned by a professing couple, Carmen and George Melder. When Carmen died, she left the house and garden in a Trust for use of elderly and retired workers and other workers. Trustees were appointed by John Blair. The Trust is governed under the laws of Sri Lanka. One of the remaining Trustees is Andrew (John Blair’s nephew), a professing man in New Zealand. Others in the Blair family there have been lavishly helping the work in Sri Lanka for many years. Carmen Melder's brother, who was not professing, owned the convention ground. Meetings were held in tents. Muni a professing friend lived on the premises and served as caretaker. He also functioned as the chief cook for convention and cooked all meals for workers during preps. The brother workers live in a house also close to the grounds. This too is owned by the Trust. Cyrus Ferdinandus, an ex-worker and his family live opposite the brother workers’ house. Subsequently when Carmen's brother wanted to sell the convention ground about 15 years ago, Lionel Silva purchased it and dedicated it to the convention. He even built a nice structure on the grounds where visitors stayed during convention and also special meetings took place. When Peter Morrison took over from John Blair, 3 years ago, in spite of the grounds and all facilities including Muni as caretaker and cook, remaining for their use for convention, they decided to move the convention to new premises which are hired out. They have to pay for all the facilities and food. Instead of telling the true reason for the shift, Peter and his cohorts spread a false story that Lionel Silva ordered them to relocate as he wanted to sell the premises. When Lionel Silva heard this, he was very upset and confronted Peter. Subsequently, Lionel got Peter to write a letter to him giving the real reason for the shift was that the workers felt that they had too much work, maintaining and running the grounds for convention. In the letter he also got Peter to certify that Lionel had never ever asked them to relocate the conv. Lionel posted copies of this letter to all the professing friends in Sri Lanka. Peter wrote the letter on Undenominational Christian Mission letterhead. John Blair and Mary David continue to live in the Melder house. Both are very feeble. Mary is a heart patient and John in the late stages of bowel cancer. There is a lady carer who looks after Mary and Muni, the former caretaker of the convention grounds, looks after John. On the 2016 Workers List, Mary David is shown as resting John Blair's name isnt listed. He has been in the work in Sri Lanka for over 60 years, much of the time the Overseer there. He wants to die there and not return to his native country NZ. Doctors have given him 6 mos. to a year to live.

What a mess. Just another imperfect human group. Nothing special to see here. Move along.
These sorts of problems occur in all human organisations. The difference being that the meetings was always supposed to be the perfect way. I knew from a young age that this was not the case, as I grew up in Mildura, where oral history told me that there were three sets of workers in the district at one stage (before I was born) all claiming to represent the one true ministry, but mutually exclusive (the Victorian split).

The Sri Lankans have done a great job of confronting untruth by tracing it back and asking the source to put the record straight.
