Also @wally , if most of the friends in the US have the same views as you do, I would say that American 2x2ism is something very different to the 2x2ism of the rest of the world. Do the workers in the US preach about the right of the friends to own guns for self protection? Or is it something that has evolved from the American mentality of saying its their right to have guns ? have you travelled the world Roselyn? do you know that for a fact or are you dabbling in conjecture again?
we had a worker preach about firearms once it was an interesting tale...he basically said don't point a firearm at a police officer and expect them to do nothing...we had one of the friends kids do that and get killed...
@wally don't you like to think that maybe "American 2x2ism" is very different to the rest of the world ! No I haven't travelled the world @wally, you only have to research American Christianity, to see how much it differs from other Christianity. I would be interested to see what the F&W views are on guns for self protection a in countries like Ireland, England, Scotland, New Zealand, Vietnam, Pakistan, Germany ...... also don't forget that the 2x2's did start in Ireland not America.

@wally are you really so naïve that you think the "truth" is so much better in the US ? Wow next thing you will try & say is there are no cases of CSA in the US ! What happened in Alberta ? As curly said the problems in Vietnam were caused by US workers ! alberta is in Canada if you didn't know it can't speak for them...
well according to ross(an aussie) up to 30-40,000 have left the truth in OZ something is up in OZ...
I think maybe you need to double check those figures with @ross, @wally. What is "up" in Australia is the same as what is "up" within the whole F&W system @wally, children are being abused and it has been covered up !

Yes, how dare they want to re-marry and get on with their lives, even if their ex-partner was the one that divorced them, the minute they re-marry they have to be made an "example of" ! I supose it depends if you see divorce and remarriage as scripturally wrong or not.If you dont of course you would see the whole thing as pathetic and unnecessary and leave for a church that thinks as you do. Your choice I guess. Your statement that 'even if their ex divorces them'. Do you know what goes on in anyone elses life? Do you know why someone divorces their partner and who is the wronged one. Anyone that thinks they can say who is in the wrong is a very brave person!! Speaking from my own experience here reallyandtruly, having been divorced I think maybe I have some insight !

Absolutely what I mean. If you have divorced and remarried you must have felt that it was right in the eyes of God, therefore you would have taken exception to people saying that it wasnt right and they didnt agree with it. That is your choice. I also will continue to say that no one except the couple and God knows what goes on in a marriage behind closed doors. For people to say that they 'know who is in the wrong ' is foolish. Your experience doesn't change that fact.

So who, how and when was that rule made that someone can divorce in cases where their is aids, alcoholism, abuse, threatening bodily harm and unfaithfulness, Nathan? It seems the changed took place in the west coast (Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, WY, etc) of USA after Eldon Tenniswood, ex-overseer in California had passed away in 1990s...That's not Eldon Tenniswood's teaching. He told people to stay married "even if he kills you".

Just don't point a gun at a policeman. What kind of a dumb congregation did that worker have to preach to, poor fellow.

If so I agree !

Well I suppose it depends on how we interpret the bible, from memory there is a verse that says "except for fornication" ? So how do we define fornication? If a married person is having sex with other people is that fornication? I was being sarcastic with my comment about "how dare they re-marry". Also you said only the people in the relationship & God really know what happens, so how do the workers know, to be able to make the decision to stand some one down ?

30,000 to 40,000 left? Where did that number come from? I estimate there to currently be between 7,500-10,500 'friends' in total in Australia, including non-professing children. If anyone has a more accurate estimate I'd be keen to see it.

Wally, how would you know that? its what I've been told and after reading the text I agree... I am intrigued, but not knowing what text you refer to I cannot comment on it too much. I am also intrigued how the woman who gets married would know how her husband is not pure. Oh that's right, I am forgetting it's the woman has to be the pure one. And if a woman has a busted hymen does that mean she is not pure. There are several reasons why that could happen. I hear the muslims believe in this too. Interesting.

That's a good start Wally. I forgot one other scenario. A man who is homosexual may be getting married, yes that does happen. How is his wife to know he has not fornicated with other men? This did happen in NZ when a homosexual worker left the worker and got married. He has had a lot of explaining to do over the years and caused a lot of bother.
