dmg You are correct. I note the post you refer to has nothing to do with the subject of this thread. In accordance with Admin' wishes I will wait to see if Ross does as he requested and moves his recent posts to a new separate thread. If he does please feel free to repost there and I will respond. Happy Easter! Sure you will! -and I will dead & gone for twenty years when it happens.

You mean Ross will take 20 years to start the new thread with his posts removed from here? No, nothing to do with Ross.
Everything to do with you.

Happy Easter! Happy Easter? Since when has the "TRUTH" fellowship been celebrating Easter? It is a pagan holiday you know.

Ok this is one of the things that has happened to me, I've always had faith. But this one was more for my son but helped me also!
Ok here goes, it's taken me lots of courage to write this. Because I know I'll probably be ridiculed!
But anyway, I know in my heart I'm telling the truth!
I've always had a strong faith in God, I haven't always gone to meetings though as I've said before, we've been allowed to choose whether to go or not, so I would go to the odd one, then not go for a while, and so it went on, but I've always had faith and prayed to God. Anyway. One afternoon my son was sitting on the sofa with me, just me and him. No one else there. He was 18 and very inquisitive. He asked me how is God everywhere? I said I don't know he just is, but him being young he never let up and carried on. Come on mum as if! God can't be everywhere at once? So he's listening to me now? I said yes! He looked at me in a puzzled way, and I could see him thinking about it. Anyway I carried on the rest of my day as normal and forgot our conversation.
Later that evening I went to the meeting, my son came with me. I've said about my uncle before. He was a strong man of God. And he could talk for hours without even opening the Bible. It would just all flow out of him. He was amazing to hear, and he was a very humble man!
Anyway we were all sitting down and he was reading a passage from the bible. When all of a sudden he stopped, looked up and pointed to my son and said "good question, how is God everywhere?" my son sat bolt upright, neither of us had mentioned it to anyone else and had both forgotten about our conversation! The rest of the meeting were looking at each other asking what was going on, and that no one had asked that!
Anyway he then turned to my son and said this.
Can you see a satellite? My son said no! My uncle then said yet it is there, and it's always sending out a signal. But unless you have a receiver (television) to receive the signal then you won't be able to see the picture. He said every house can receive and show a different picture. He said the receiver is like your heart. God is everywhere, but you have to receive him. If you don't have the right heart, you won't see him and you won't see the whole picture and you won't be able to live it out and show that picture to others! That is how God is everywhere! Then he just carried on reading and talking about the chapter he was reading, as if my son had just asked him! We hadn't said a word. I asked my son had he mentioned it to anyone, he said no, he hadn't spoken a word about what we had discussed! We were amazed! God has heard my son!
My uncle used to tell us that the people of God are like pictures, he said about the proverb, apples of gold in pictures of silver. He said the apples of Gold is fruit from God, it's revelation in the heart it's like gold it's priceless! And God's people are the pictures of silver! Because they're showing the world a picture of God if we live right! I never understood this, when I was younger, but I do now! Because I've seen God in my own heart!

Maryhig Your uncle had a word of knowledge. The holy spirit works like that when he is wanting to reach someones heart. The preacher makes the statement not always knowing what he is saying is a word of knowledge until later.

I went to a Cooneyite meeting (for want of a better word) in Ireland at Patricia Roberts house around 1999 or 2000 when I was staying with her for a few days. Members of their group came from a far to make up the meeting because I was there. I think that they might not have them every week due to only a few of them being scattered around. I was allowed, in fact encouraged to take part in meeting including speaking and praying. Seemed as if any one was welcome to take part in their meetings. The one thing she did say was that she could not understand why any one would go to a church/denomination. They were very anti churches. She had short hair, and a TV. I knew the hymns from meeting days. She said the one thing that shocked her was hearing (not from me but from others) that the group was supposed to have been started by Jesus when it was general knowledge in Ireland that it was started there. I liked it better than 2x2 meetings in that it was more Christ focused than man focused on the workers.

Now let us lighten up a bit with this message about God's Empire.
Children of a God's Empire, we are sister and brothers all; Children of God's Empire, answer to the call; Lift your heads and sing, God preserves His Kingdom and it will not fall; Children of God 's Empire, your Saviour lived and died That' you may stand on Holy ground, in honour and in pride; So be united as one in Christ in harmony and Abide.

Hi Mary, yes anyone is welcome in our meetings, we do have TV's (realistically you can see a lot worse things on a PC than on a TV) it's what type of mind you have really isn't it? not what electrical device you have! Some have shorter hair, but we are told it's better for a woman to grow her hair but we don't have to, we're not told we have to do anything, but we are taught what's best to do then we have free will to do what we think is right in our hearts, and that God judges the heart! But we are taught that it's better not to build up in the world. We are not man focused, we are God and Christ focused and believe all are equal! We believe it's better to be lower than higher and don't reverence people! Only God and Christ! Nothing is hidden from us regarding the past. In fact they have openly talked about Edward in the meeting! We've always been told the men started to try and go back to basics, and follow Jesus, and some went wrong but they don't pull people down. I too agree about church denominations. I believe we can pray to God in our hearts and a home is a good place to have a meeting. God's temple is not made with man's hands, so we don't need large temples and churches, that have artifacts worth thousands! We need a basic room large enough to hold the people. Because it's the people that are God's church. It's not where we worship, but how we worship. In spirit and in truth And where 2 are 3 are gathered in his name, there will Christ be also! I don't know what you mean by small, but there were around 20 in our meeting today, we sometimes have a few more, and there are a few less people in our midweek meetings.

maryhig - really appreciate your posts. Where do you stand on baptism? Apologies if you have already explained this elsewhere!

maryhig - really appreciate your posts. Where do you stand on baptism? Apologies if you have already explained this elsewhere! Hiya! Finlandia I'm not sure what you mean, but this is what I feel about baptism. I hope I answer your question! I feel that baptism by water symbolises our faith in God and Christ. But it's not all about the baptism by natural water. Because in God, baptism by water is hearing the word through the holy spirit from Gods people. It then depends on our heart condition. If our heart is soft and we believe and accept the word and repent and follow Jesus, then Christ will baptise us with the holy spirit in the heart. Once we receive the spirit then we should live by the spirit and not the flesh, and deny ourselves daily, and follow Jesus. This will bring us closer to God. If we give our hearts to God and humble ourselves, then he will bless us and will teach is through the spirit, guiding us and showing us our sins through our conscience. And we then should sin no more purposely. This is circumcision of the heart. And only through baptism of the spirit can we achieve this, becoming a living sacrifice pleasing and acceptable in the eyes of God! It's not just the hearers of the word, but the doers of the word that please God! I hope I've explained it ok

Thanks maryhig. I am in agreement with what you say. I was interested to know whether you practised baptism by immersion in water. Who would carry out the baptism? Presumably a male member of your meeting?
