Thinking of all victims and their families. There are victims that even he doesn't know about - wives, brothers, sisters, parents, next generation whose lives have been ruined because they must support & want to be loyal to their loved ones Remembering you all in my prayers.

Glad he pleaded guilty Pity it took all these years and so many ruined and disrupted lives before he did Is he remanded in custody or is he out on bail Sad that his victims have to wait weeks to get the result of his sentencing Thinking of all injured parties in the different places

It should never have occured among Godly, God fearing people. Not a good example for the godly or ungodly.

Thank you all for the supportive messages. Mum was admitted to hospital on Wednesday and was well enough on Thursday to hear that Tanner had pleaded guilty and it would not be necessary for her to appear as a witness at a trial. On Friday AM she deteriorated rapidly and is currently in intensive care. Today, she was put in an induced coma and ventilated with oxygen. Her condition is critical.

So sorry to hear of your Mum's health deteriorating so much so fast. It is great she got the good news of Tanner pleading Guilty. I am sure it brought a tear of joy to her eye to finally hear he had owned up to his despicable and devious acts. Acts that had ruined her life, your life and so many more lives. Not taking away from you Robert, but thank goodness you had parents that took the stand and stood by you at great cost. My heart still goes out to all victims and the massive circle of ruined lives as we await the sentencing. It is Victory in the battle, but has left many maimed and shell shocked that will never never recover and has damaged the coming generations. I hope your Mum is comfortable, pain free and will recover from this low ebb. Remembering you and yours at this most difficult time.

Folks, just a timely reminder to us all: There are times in life when one should not just turn the other cheek for more.
To "turn the other cheek," does not imply pacifism, nor does it mean we place ourselves or others in mortal danger. Speak up and defend yourselves and the faith, God expects it of us.Just do not uphold/encourage the multitude or anyone to do evil.

Yes many & much would have been saved if dealt with years ago Hope it is considered when being sentenced that his victims and all those affected by his actions who are secondary victims have been sentenced by him to LIFE OF TORTURE WITH NO REPRIEVE

As the above post by LITTLE PADDY says the way the abused have been treated is DESPICABLE AND A DISGRACE, to think LOVE IS THE KINGDOMS BANNER? This provides very little consolation at this point but rest assured that God will bring those responsible into judgement. Vengeance is mine saith the Lord. Those who aid and abet and deliberately cover for those who do wrong, will also have to face the music and answer for their actions/inactions. My sympathy goes out to all the abused and to their families and friends, it is not meant to be so in God's Kingdom of love, there needs to be more focus on, and adherence to, rules like the "Golden Rule," and love thy neighbour as you love yourself.

Does anyone have an explanation as to why the abuser will be punished later on but the abused just must stand and endure. Doesn't it appear that it was meant to be so in god's kingdom? If it was not meant to be - it wouldn't be.

SAD THIS SUBJECT DOES NOT GET MORE SUPPORT AND THE VICTIMS OF THIS EX WORKERS ABUSE HAVE TO DAILY SUFFER ON AND TRY AND KEEP GOING WITH ALL THE TRAUMA So true - Just because he has pleaded Guilty doesn't mean his victims are any less hurt or suffering any less Noel has destroyed lives and not only the lives of his victims. He stood up and preached LOVE but didn't practice what he preached - of course he did in some home - Part time Christian What has changed - LOVE is preached but NOT PRACTICED towards certain people as well as the victims who have had their hearts torn to shreds - of course practiced when in some homes towards some people I'm sorry and hurt to say The Banner has many cuts and has worn thin in places many places The Victims are present tense Not past tense Are they not suffering enough without the workers rubbing the Salt of Neglect into their seeping wounds I care and am thinking of you all I know this is small comforted but there are many that do - Have to admit I was never told by a worker that they cared

Does anyone have an explanation as to why the abuser will be punished later on but the abused just must stand and endure. Doesn't it appear that it was meant to be so in god's kingdom? If it was not meant to be - it wouldn't be. If I was abused and read what you stated, it would be the worst insulting slap in the face. Shaking my head... I am guessing that your feeling of the insulting slap was due to the phrase: Doesn't it appear that it was meant to be so in god's kingdom? If it was not meant to be - it wouldn't be.Again, it is a question of a person's belief in god. It was stated that "...it is not meant to be so in God's Kingdom of love...". The owner of this kingdom, god, is defined as being omnipotent and omniscient. Reading in Job the actions of god are clear. S/he allowed satan to kill everyone important to Job, destroy his goods, inflict him with a number of painful conditions all to demonstrate that Job was obedient. So there is precedent and support for the claim that seemed to raise your ire. Given the fact that god controls the universe and, being all powerful and all knowing, it would border on blaspheme to state that something that happened was not meant to be. It would be, in effect, limiting the power of god and implying that some other entity had usurped god's power and was the cause of what happened. Or perhaps the event had nothing to do with god or god's kingdom and was just a criminal act that needs to be stopped and the criminal prevented from harming others. This explanation would please William of Ockham.

Do you understand what was meant by those comments?

I find your post totally lacking in Love Loving Kindness and bears the lowest of the low insult to the abused. Remember there was more than one form of abuse - The physical The mental The fear The let down of this being what was supposed to be one of God's Servants all inflicted by Noel. Then there was the abuse of the abused being told to keep quiet about it,then, all down the years and still Attempt of a total cover up Ongoing neglect - we may say a quick hello but I have to run (in case you bring up anything. God allowed Job to be tested to an unimaginable extend But the tests weren't by God's people There was no coverup No let on this isn't / hasn't happened no neglect Job Jesus said that BY THIS SHALL ALL MEN KNOW THAT YOU ARE MY DISCIPLES BY YOUR LOVE ONE FOR ANOTHER.
Show me the Christlike Love and Comfort that Noel dished out Show me the Love and comfort that has been shown to his Victims
Jesus set the standard - they might try to higher it or lower it - I come far short in my daily life - THE STANDARD STAYS THE SAME CHRISTLIKE LOVE
My heart and prayers go out to each one of his victims and their families & friends Hopefully there will be no more coverups neglect etc and although the damage that has been done can't be repaired let there be no more damage done

I find your post totally lacking in Love Loving Kindness and bears the lowest of the low insult to the abused. If you are addressing my post it was not meant to be a post filled with the milk of human kindness. It was addressing the belief that people hold and asking why they would hold and continue to hold those beliefs when the end result is an abused victim and a criminal that got away with his known criminal activity for years. Why the support for a belief (system?) that, as you pointed out, continues to heap abuse on the victim after the event? Why make the comment that this is not what one would expect in "god's kingdom" when the fact that it is viewed as god's kingdom is part of the reason why criminals can thrive and what is used by others as an excuse for the behavior. Everyone reading probably has heard the expression "It's god's will" as an answer to why things went wrong and ignore the need to actually address the issue. But they all have the same root. Protect the belief that this is god's way because if there really was a caring god and and this really was his way, based on the definition given for god, it would not happen. Of course this is wrong. And it is certain that some of the victims are also suffering from the realization that they should not have been listening to a group of people who abuse children and/or support those who do. The point was that Job was subjected to a lot of suffering. Job probably could have said "This should not happen to a god fearing man." I don't know Noel. From what has been posted he seems like a man who abuses children. I fail to see why you expect him to give out love and comfort. I don't understand why you expect him to give out care to victims or even acknowledge them. The man is a criminal. He abuses children.
You seem to be missing the point that Noel is a criminal. There is a good possibility that there will be more damage done. Other children will be abused. However there is something people can do that is much more powerful than prayer. Report abuse or suspicion of abuse to the authorities first. Then, if the need is felt, discuss the situation with whomever you feel is necessary. The last thing that is needed is after a decade or so to hear of "...abuse of the abused being told to keep quiet about it".

There is so much talk of CSA in the forums, and here we have a guilty plea* with surprisingly few comments.** Here's a chance.
Congratulations and thanks to those who have put so much into getting the abuser to where he is. It must have been a horrible process.
Deep sympathy to the victims, and as has been mentioned, the in-direct victims. May you find support here, and elsewhere. Tell us how we can help and what you need to hear.
Please feel free to share as much or little as you like and may we learn how to validate your experience and pain. May we learn empathy.
May we understand that the crimes were done, reports were made, and talking about it is healthy and necessary. Thank you for doing so.
* plural guilty pleas
** surprisingly few comments of support (there are 4 pages of more of the same old arguments about CSA).

The last thing that is needed is after a decade or so to hear of "...abuse of the abused being told to keep quiet about it". Hi Rational It would seem that we agree on a lot of things and lest I have mislead you at any point I will attempt to clarify some things. To begin I did know Noel Tanner quite well and do know some of his victims quite well also. Why God allows certain things to happen in this world I would often question. Things will happen to God's people just like any other people We do not expect criminal acts to happen to anyone by God's people. Noel Tanner was a man that held a position of trust, that should have been filled with Christlike Love, but it would seem he was a Wolf in sheep's clothing that became a criminal by sexually assaulting his first victim. Those who took it upon themselves to try and coverup the abuse of the abused telling them and theirs to keep quiet about it,then and all down the years and still do, Attempt of a total cover up Ongoing neglect etc - These are showing no sign of Christlike Love which is the Cornerstone. Yes their is a major problem with people worshiping the "workers", being afraid to say anything knowing that they will be Blackened if they do WELL I'D RATHER ROCK THE BOAT THAN GO DOWN WITH THE SHIP - I'll continue to serve God his way - despite my shortcomings People need to Stand Up for what is Right and Fearlessly Condemn what is wrong to the ministry and if they pass it off then they can't claim to Love One Another and be Christlike Yes if there is any CSA or Sexual Abuse of any kind to any person - go to the Police/Garda or if afraid - Your Teacher or a Doctor and then inform the senior worker if you wish.I only wish I could do more for the victims and their kin Remembering you each hour of each day

People who leave these atrocities in God's hands with zero action on their part are spineless. People who cover it up are spineless. People who are knowledgeable about this and are guilty of inaction are spineless. Anyone who protects a worker guilty of CSA are spineless. I hope Noel Tanner gets the same special treatment in prison that he would in a US prison. I hope he gets lots of it.
