When we moved my mom to assisted living , I had to help pay for her care . Workers came to visit and I told them , you will receive no more money . As they looked on the way out for the envelope . My mom left nothing to the worker’s . When my mom passed THE BOYS THOUGHT THEY WERE TAKING THE FUNERAL . OVER MY DEAD BODY . It was sister worker’s or NONE !! We were asked after reading of the Will if there was money for them . To which I said there was no money for THEM . There's a problem right there. The organisation is costing far too much to run.

Never have I seen it happen in Alberta . In my life the only money we saw was what my parents gave . My mom was videotaped by police about me living trauma from the CSA/SA in case she passed . Further to that the worker whom was sure that he was taking her funeral is the SON OF ONE OF MY ABUSERS . Full stop 🛑 I would have taken the funeral myself . Looking for money when I am paying for her care . Not once did the worker’s think about helping . It seems that soliciting for money is out of hand in Alberta. Here in New Zealand there's a form for including workers in your will if you ask for it, but workers don't ask for money as far as I'm aware.

It's almost like a payment to release one from purgatory. The more you give, the closer to sainthood you become.

I have been involved with professing relatives that have died and there has never been a mention of money by the workers.

I like to give credit where it's due.

In my experience there has been nothing like the blatant solicitation for money as in Alberta. Give credit where credit is due, NZ workers have got this right.

They have 'spiritual authority' over the friends.

Of course, there is no blessing for you to give to the work after you are dead and no longer need the money. Hardly a sacrifice or hardship. A relative of mine gave a substantial part of their estate to the overseer personally for him to use as he saw fit. She didn’t need it anymore.

Dig your head out of the sand. Margaret Carey, sister worker, periodically gave an "In all the years I've labored I've never asked for money" sermon. I'd be willing to bet she enjoyed a spike in donations after these sermons!

Ten minutes after the gospel meeting started, the music started in the dance hall upstairs and the dancing started. Margaret was no match for what was taking place in the creaking floored hall upstairs.
