Many people learn how to talk, but they don't learn how to listen.
Listening to one another is an important thing in life.
And music tells us how to do that.

Verna, I enjoy your contribution and attitude on here, as I do Guest8's. We need more like that

He would love that Prags. I keep in contact with Redback as I know his wife has very poor health. Fortunately he has supportive children nearby. He keeps his sense of humour throughout and his good heart.

He keeps his sense of humour throughout and his good heart. I believe he is SA, and most of my future visits will be in VIC and NSW. I was in SA in 2018. If the opportunity presents itself to get there again, I would definitely go and prop up a bar with him, take him out for dinner etc. I imagine he would be a fun guy, with a wicked non-PC sense of humour, but also a caring and kind person. Good to hear he has supportive children nearby.

Always loved this:
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Thanks guest8. I hope to contribute to this thread but contemplating it I realize how very dispirited I am at the moment. I will attempt to “lift my eyes”.

Thx prags. I was talking to someone yesterday who had “run over” me and some of my fellows. She said “I will always take the high road”. I don’t know why I mention this except that I find myself again in a state of confusion as a result conflicting perceptions.

Everyone you meet today is a human being who struggles in their own way. Be patient. Be present. Be kind. Compliment them. Magnify their strengths, not their weaknesses. This is how to make a difference, in your own life above all, and in all the lives you touch. Love ❤️

"This is the time to be slow, Lie low to the wall Until the bitter weather passes.
Try, as best you can, not to let The wire brush of doubt Scrape from your heart All sense of yourself And your hesitant light.
If you remain generous, Time will come good; And you will find your feet Again on fresh pastures of promise, Where the air will be kind And blushed with beginning.” John O'Donohue

Stop worrying about other people understanding you. Get in touch with yourself instead. Focus on what makes you happy, what makes your soul feel at peace. You are your biggest commitment, so start loving your flaws, your awkwardness, your weirdness, your intensity, your vulnerability, your everything. Life becomes so much more fulfilling when you are just simply yourself. The world keeps spinning whether people understand you or not, so why not make this next trip around the sun about you.

There are three solutions to every problem: uccept it, change it, or leave it. If you can't accept it, change it. If you can't change it, leave it.

BE YOU. It takes courage to be yourself in a world where you are constantly told that who you are isn't enough. Being yourself is the biggest gift you can offer yourself and others. Be brave enough to show the world who you are without an apology.
Not my words . But I like the message .

I instantly thought of our hymn 'I the lowly way have taken'. Thought of the good Samaritan, I think you could say the priest and the Levite took the high road, so up themselves they couldn't help someone beneath them. I think of you quite often and hope you are coping with your troubles. All the best.

Although I understand your point re the Good Samaritan. He actually took ‘the high road’; its a saying meaning to do what’s morally right, goodness and integrity. Not indicating being up yourself.

It makes me want to start singing Loch Lomond- you’ll take the high road and I’ll take the low road…but I don’t think that would be helpful. I understand what is meant by taking the high road but stating it about oneself raises my suspicions. Oh well.
