Sorry Iam. No I'm not high ... I just thought you were an atheist. I don't know why exactly but I apologize. I'm 66 years old, going on 67, have diabetes and some serious cancer going on, with related macular degeneration and cataracts, so can't read a computer screen very well any more. I haven't been on the board for quite some time; but, I do enjoy discussing the Bible, and since I don't attend ANY church this is one place I can attempt to have Bible discussions; but, it's been a let down to see so much against GOD and the word of GOD. Well take it easy IAM. Truly Didn't intend to rattle your cage or ruffle your feathers so to speak! I don’t find this the best place to have discussions about the bible. Too easy to preach and not practice. In fact, I am finding the less that is SAID about religion the more I can learn about it. From anyone....which tends to be greatly misunderstood by a few “believers” on here. You're right about that. I liked Snow. Someone told me she got so fed up with this board and left. I first got on this board, well it was the PMB in 1992. I miss all the good people I met on here back then. Anytime you want to message me and discuss the Bible there's nothing I'd enjoy better, plus it would be uplifting to me too. Thanks for your reply.

You seem to preoccupy yourself with passing judgement on others. Maybe try a new passion?? I love it when people like yourself pass judgment on me “passing judgment”! No wonder there’s atheists. Grab a mirror and then take a peek at your own posts😞Atheism is a choice just as belief is. I do not nor ever will take responsibility for others choices.

I do not nor ever will take responsibility for others choices. Belief is full of hypocrisy. Actually it was the chief priests (that would be overseers in today’s language) and elders that seemed to be the most full of it. That’s what Jesus taught. It is very rare to find a believer that isn’t a hypocrite today.

Get a life and you won’t need to run around judging others!

No thanks- you can’t seem to see the hypocrisy in yourself. No I actually DO. That is one thing that I hate the most in our church because if it’s in you it’s gonna be in me. It’s a leaven thing. But then, elders and chief priests and those that support them were historically the biggest culprits. Seems like history is repeating itself. Does that offend you for any reason?

LAUGHING at a calamity is what is so ungodly and if it’s ungodly it’s heathen and is warned against in the scriptures. And no one PUT ME UP to anything. And no, I do not have the brains or the integrity of Dmg to set a matter straight. Yeah right ... an atheist quoting the scriptures. lol Are you left handed? What is funny about an atheist quoting scripture? Christians quote atheists all the time. Some atheists even read better than most Christians.

Some atheists even read better than most Christians. Maybe "funny" would be the wrong word ... more like ironic; but, since you mentioned it Bob, I've said for years there really are no atheists. They just think they're atheists; but, when they come to the end of their lives ... many of them change into believers very quickly! Billy Graham has a sermon on Youtube about a famous man who was an excellent portrait painter, and he made fun of GOD and made fun of Christianity, painted elaborate portraits mocking GOD and Christianity all his life. When the end of his life was upon him and he was lying on his death bed, Billy Graham said the man was screaming, and crying, and BEGGING GOD to forgive him. I just know I would sure hate to be in that situation myself. You're right though I shouldn't make fun of anyone and I'm not... it just seems a little ironic though when an atheist says they don't believe in GOD then turn around and lay a "guilt trip" on someone and preach the scriptures to them. Just an observation ... that's all. Just an observation.

Hey Jetmech just a gentle reminder. Snow, whom you like and miss on this board is an atheist. Keep an open mind. Everybody’s experience is different but most of us have had a connection to the church. People I hope on this board, are just being honest, if they wish to divulge.... about where life has taken them on a spiritual level or not. Cheers.

Jetmech, an academic has a mind that is eager to obtain knowledge. They learn how to think, not what to think. The subject material is irrelevant. They have to find a credible reference to support any statement they make. Academic mindsets are the psycho-social attitudes or beliefs one has about oneself in relation to academic work. A long line of research evidence shows that having a sense of belonging in a school or classroom improves a student's academic performance. Once the mind is properly trained it seeks out accurate and verified information.
Unfortunately the Bible is not a credible reference. The Bible is not primarily scholarly because it is not considered a debatable theory in the way most academic texts are. It is not peer-reviewed and does not have a bibliography, as most academic texts do. To its adherents, it is the word of God.

From my observation, this is what I see or comprehend.
I think what gets up the atheist nose is Christian people stating their spiritual experience as fact. As Truth.
I’ve often thought along these lines. If I was professing to be a Christian, I would have to put it this way. ...I believe in a spiritual dimension to my life. This is true to me. My spiritual experience or my spiritual beliefs are true to me. And really, is that not simplicity?
I can’t espouse to others that they are fact or a universal Truth.

I believe people can work out their own future. I have that confidence and then the choices they make are authentic. . I can never comprehend how preaching fire and brimstone and quoting all the harsh verses in scripture relating to God or Jesus, is the formula to care for others salvation.
You know, I remember a preacher from your church talking at convention. She was speaking about another professing person who had brought a number of people to the mtg and they professed. It was questioned how she had that success. And the worker said .. “ she loved them, into christianity’.
I believe in love, in whatever dimension that I have experienced it. Maybe not everyone does. Cheers.

It is all about acting the part. I was never a good actor, never made it into stage plays at school. Prefer real life myself, more down to Earth.

The Bible doesn't care about academics! That is why academics don't use it as a reference source. The same applies to Newspapers they don't qualify either.

I understand that. But you asked people NOT to do it, then YOU did it in the same post. At least do it in another post. Yep, I asked them NOT to do it but if they continue doing it then I will give them a taste of their own medicine. Be respectful and civilized then you will NOT get a taste of your own medicine.Empty threats.

FF was talking to a rock but you have opted out. It's ironic how you like to pick on a person who's native language is NOT english and comment at wit on any literary flaws he has. You remind me of ACTS CH 4: 13 & 14 " ... when they saw the boldness of Peter & John, and they perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled .." " ... and beheld the man which they'd healed standing with them ..." (The man they healed was 40 years old)! Peter and John were unlearned and ignorant in those peoples' eyes, yet they possessed the Holy Ghost and healed this 40 year old man! I Corinthians Ch 4:10 - 13 sounds like the workers (and Nathan) "We are fools for Christs' sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised..." "Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place..." " ... being reviled we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it ..." " ... being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of this world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day ..." I remember as a kid hearing someone, who had been adopted and given a great deal of farm land and wealth, yet often making fun of the workers. Just as different ones here make fun of Nathan. After Nathan has travelled here from his native country, adapted to our culture and way of life, and studied religions and the Bible for YEARS, only to be disrespected and treated like this. Somehow these verses remind me of that. It also reminds me of a place further on back in the Bible in the OLD TESTAMENT ... II KINGS 2:24 when Elisha was going up to Bethel and as he was going up by the way, (or path), there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said to him: " ... Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head ...!" " ... he turned back, and looked at them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord..." " ... then, there came forth two she bears out if the woods, and tare forty and two children of them ...!" Some people nowadays would call that a "politically incorrect" azz whuppin' ... It sounds to me like they deserved it! GOD DON'T MESS AROUND! I thought you were not getting involved!! GO TALK TO A ROCK!!!
