1) NathanB: Someone wrote about the modern day prophets. Prophet are alive today just like in the days of Jesus and the apostles. They are among us, today! Christ has given them the same gifts in those days and also in our days to deal with the current situations and to understand the future events to come.

The word prophet means speak forth. Just as described in the New Testament. The purpose is to instruct, comfort, encourage, rebuke, convict, and stimulate the body. A prophet is person who has been given the gift to relay information from God to man.

A modern prophet has no church except Gods Church, which lies in the hearts of those God is teaching in these latter days. A modern prophet will advise and inform and whether you believe him or not, that is your free agency.

A prophet was an expert in the future, seeing how it will all end and of new phenonema. The prophet would be thinking of new things and their impact. He would be looking towards the kingdom of heaven (utopia) He would express the freedom to try new ideas (liberal) and break from the old ideas.

Prophets would love to explore the unknown they would try to predict future events by studying the Laws of Cause and effect. So, a modern day prophet do not lead people astray and teach sound doctrine which leads people to Christ.

A modern-day prophet is a prophet who has lived recently, or who is still alive. He has a direct connection with God, often talking with him face to face, or through the Holy Spirit. Like the prophets in olden times, the Lord will reveal to them his secrets. Amos 3:7

A modern day prophet is someone that has answers and advice, in a spiritual capacity.

2) What you are speaking about is not a true prophet. A true prophet foretells the happenings of Spiritual importance of the future. And the Bible says a real prophets prophecy will come true.

They told me that the first 15 levels of the Area 51 facility were man made; that Levels 16-27 were already there. Nobody from our government made them. We were just facilitating them.

Retired Colonel Billie Faye Woodard and twin sister, Zuria were born in our hollow earth, and delivered to outer earth on September 18, 1951.

On the way to Area 51, they boarded a four engine prop plane at Nellis Air Force Base near Las Vegas, Nevada. It was morning when they boarded the airplane and Billie noticed that all the windows were blackened out so they couldn't see out. A short time later they landed and got out of the airplane at Area 51. To Billie, it looked like night time. Billie remarked as to why it was so dark and why they could see no stars. Billie was told they were inside a mountain. They boarded a staff car and soon started down a 45 degree angle incline which was somewhat alarming. Soon the car reached another level and Billie was told to get out and go into a building, and take off all clothes. Soon a pink mist filled the room in some kind of decontamination routine.

With a new set of clothes on, they took the vehicle down another steep incline to another level far beneath the previous level and were told to go into another building where a blue mist this time filled the room for another type of decontamination. Billie was given a new uniform that had a triangle logo with the numbers 51 on it. Outside the patch was another circle with the words, "Black Project" and on the bottom of the circle the words, "Top Secret."

They then got into an elevator and went down to another level. The elevator descended so rapidly that they were almost weightless. It soon slowed down and stopped and when the elevator doors opened, they were looking at a nice little underground town with people walking here and there. It is located on the 10th level. It looked as bright as daylight just like a little town on the surface world, except they couldn't see very far. There was a sun-like orb in the sky and above that was pitch black. Billie's living quarters were on this 10th level.

Billie was then taken to an assigned office on the 6th level in Archives and relieved the previous on-duty officer, who remarked that he was happy to be leaving. Billie asked him, "Why?", but he just shrugged and said that he had had enough. He said, "You'll find out soon enough why I just want to get out of here and why am glad to be leaving." Billie sat down at the desk and looked through the files and folders on the desk. The files and folders were classified documentation the military has gathered over the years on Our Hollow Earth. Among the documents, Billie was able to study a 35 page document on Admiral Richard E. Byrd's journeys to Our Hollow Earth through both the north and south polar openings. Billie distinctly remembers reading the exact coordinates of the north polar opening that leads into Our Hollow Earth. A day later a higher ranking officer came and said, "Your presence is requested on a lower level. You were asked for by name."

The exploration flight
over the North Pole

I must write this diary in secrecy and obscurity. It concerns my Arctic flight of the nineteenth day of February in the year of Nineteen and Forty Seven. There comes a time when the rationality of men must fade into insignificance and one must accept the inevitability of the Truth! I am not at liberty to disclose the following documentation at this writing... perhaps it shall never see the light of public scrutiny, but I must do my duty and record here for all to read one day. In a world of greed and exploitation of certain of mankind can no longer suppress that which is truth.

FLIGHT LOG - BASE CAMP ARCTIC - 2/19/1947

0600 Hours- All preparations are complete for our flight north ward and we are airborne with full fuel tanks at 0610 Hours.

0620 Hours- fuel mixture on starboard engine seems too rich, adjustment made and Pratt Whittneys are running smoothly.

0730 Hours- Radio Check with base camp. All is well and radio reception is normal.

0740 Hours- Note slight oil leak in starboard engine, oil pres sure indicator seems normal, however.

0800 Hours- Slight turbulence noted from easterly direction at altitude of 2321 feet, correction to 1700 feet, no further turbulence, but tail wind increases, slight adjustment in throttle controls, aircraft performing very well now.

0815 Hours- Radio Check with base camp, situation normal.

0830 Hours- Turbulence encountered again, increase altitude to 2900 feet, smooth flight conditions again.

0910 Hours- Vast Ice and snow below, note coloration of yellowish nature, and disperse in a linear pattern. Altering course foe a better examination of this color pattern below, note reddish or purple color also. Circle this area two full turns and return to assigned compass heading. Position check made again to base camp, and relay information concerning colorations in the Ice and snow below.

0910 Hours- Both Magnetic and Gyro compasses beginning to gyrate and wobble, we are unable to hold our heading by instrumentation. Take bearing with Sun compass, yet all seems well. The controls are seemingly slow to respond and have sluggish quality, but there is no indication of Icing!

0915 Hours- In the distance is what appears to be mountains.

0949 Hours- 29 minutes elapsed flight time from the first sighting of the mountains, it is no illusion. They are mountains and consisting of a small range that I have never seen before!

0955 Hours- Altitude change to 2950 feet, encountering strong turbulence again.

1000 Hours- We are crossing over the small mountain range and still proceeding northward as best as can be ascertained. Beyond the mountain range is what appears to be a valley with a small river or stream running through the center portion. There should be no green valley below! Something is definitely wrong and abnormal here! We should be over Ice and Snow! To the portside are great forests growing on the mountain slopes. Our navigation Instruments are still spinning, the gyroscope is oscillating back and forth!

1005 Hours- I alter altitude to 1400 feet and execute a sharp left turn to better examine the valley below. It is green with either moss or a type of tight knit grass. The Light here seems different. I cannot see the Sun anymore. We make another left turn and we spot what seems to be a large animal of some kind below us. It appears to be an elephant! NO!!! It looks more like a mammoth! This is incredible! Yet, there it is! Decrease altitude to 1000 feet and take binoculars to better examine the animal. It is confirmed - it is definitely a mammoth-like animal! Report this to base camp.

1030 Hours- Encountering more rolling green hills now. The external temperature indicator reads 74 degrees Fahrenheit! Continuing on our heading now. Navigation instruments seem normal now. I am puzzled over their actions. Attempt to contact base camp. Radio is not functioning!

1130 Hours- Countryside below is more level and normal (if I may use that word). Ahead we spot what seems to be a city!!!! This is impossible! Aircraft seems light and oddly buoyant. The controls refuse to respond!! My GOD!!! Off our port and star board wings are a strange type of aircraft. They are closing rapidly alongside! They are disc-shaped and have a radiant quality to them. They are close enough now to see the markings on them. It is a type of Swastika!!! This is fantastic. Where are we! What has happened. I tug at the controls again. They will not respond!!!! We are caught in an invisible vice grip of some type!

1135 Hours- Our radio crackles and a voice comes through in English with what perhaps is a slight Nordic or Germanic accent! The message is: 'Welcome, Admiral, to our domain. We shall land you in exactly seven minutes! Relax, Admiral, you are in good hands.'

I note the engines of our plane have stopped running! The aircraft is under some strange control and is now turning itself. The controls are useless.

1140 Hours- Another radio message received. We begin the landing process now, and in moments the plane shudders slightly, and begins a descent as though caught in some great unseen elevator! The downward motion is negligible, and we touch down with only a slight jolt!

1145 Hours- I am making a hasty last entry in the flight log. Several men are approaching on foot toward our aircraft. They are tall with blond hair. In the distance is a large shimmering city pulsating with rainbow hues of color. I do not know what is going to happen now, but I see no signs of weapons on those approaching. I hear now a voice ordering me by name to open the cargo door. I comply.

March 11, 1947

I have just attended a staff meeting at the Pentagon. I have stated fully my discovery and the message from the Master. All is duly recorded. The President has been advised. I am now detained for several hours (six hours, thirty- nine minutes, to be exact.) I am interviewed intently by Top Security Forces and a medical team. It was an ordeal!

I am placed under strict control via the national security provisions of this United States of America. I am ORDERED TO REMAIN SILENT IN REGARD TO ALL THAT I HAVE LEARNED, ON THE BEHALF OF HUMANITY! Incredible! I am reminded that I am a military man and I must obey orders.

These last few years elapsed since 1947 have not been kind...

I now make my final entry in this singular diary. In closing, I must state that I have faithfully kept this matter secret as directed all these years. It has been completely against my values of moral right. Now, I seem to sense the long night coming on and this secret will not die with me, but as all truth shall, it will triumph and so it shall.

This can be the only hope for mankind. I have seen the truth and it has quickened my spirit and has set me free! I have done my duty toward the monstrous military industrial complex. Now, the long night begins to approach, but there shall be no end.

Just as the long night of the Arctic ends, the brilliant sunshine of Truth shall come again... and those who are of darkness shall fall in it's Light... FOR I HAVE SEEN THAT LAND BEYOND THE POLE, THAT CENTER OF THE GREAT UNKNOWN.

This is a $13 million tunnel boring machine (TBM) used for tunneling at the Nevada Test Site. (Remember that Area 51 is part of the test site.) Some of them were built even earlier than that. These bases are basically large cities underground connected by high-speed magneto-leviton trains that have speeds up to Mach 2. U.S. Special Forces Killed a Giant in Kandahar

In the summer of 2016, several personalities and web sites dedicated to discussing supernatural myths and conspiracy theories began claiming that an American Special Forces soldier serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan, was killed in 2002 by a 1,100-pound, blade-wielding, 12-foot-tall giant from Old Testament times before the giant himself was taken down by the military.

American soldiers serving in the province of Kandahar were drawn into a firefight of biblical proportions. The enemy force was a single man armed only with a pike. The man was of an ancient race so large, that his measurements would soon be officially recorded for the first time since the writings of the old testament.

Afghanistan, 2002. A patrol of U.S. Marines goes missing in a remote area of Kandahar. A second unit of the Special Forces is flown miles from the nearest village and deposited at the last reported rally point of the missing patrol. They follow its trail on land for only a few kilometers when they find themselves descending the side of a mountain.

The Marines travel single-file following a narrow path, centuries-old, made by goats, which brings them to the mouth of a cave in the mountainside. The lieutenant in command was puzzled by the unusual amount of loose rock or rubble in front of the cave, when he saw the rocks were mixed... with fragments of bone. Staff sergeant DePaula was the man who found the field radio belonging to the unit which had vanished. It was crushed like an empty pack of cigarettes.

They were looking at the site of an ambush. The LT immediately commanded his men to disperse and it was his quick thinking that saved most of the men from the thing that now burst out of the cave. It was so large, and moving so fast that for some odd reason, Sergeant DePaula thought it might be an elephant.

It looked like a man but it was 12 to 15 feet tall, with a red beard and flaming red hair down to its shoulders. They were taken by surprise and nobody moved until Corporal Markowitz charged it, firing his M4. Their Special Forces training and muscle memory took over, and the rest of the men emptied their weapons into the giant's gut.

The titan was bellowing and it took out Markowitz by thrusting a spear clean through the soldier's torso. Then DePaula called out, "Shoot him in the face!" The other troops took up the same call at the top of their lungs. The primitive looking hulk took multiple hits from M4's and 308's, none of which was slowing him down. He still had the first soldier on the end of his pike.

Suddenly the giant stopped moving and blinked his eyes as if confused. Then he collapsed and the ground shook. The titan was finally dead. The entire engagement had taken less than a minute. After the Lieutenant radioed in their position, a CH 47 helicopter arrived. It could not land on the side of a mountain but it dropped a cargo net on a line, and the men were ordered to roll the giant onto the net, which required the strength of two squads to accomplish. It smelled... like a combination of a skunk and a rotten corpse.

The huge body was flown to a local airstrip, where it was transferred to the loading bay of C-130 cargo plane for transport to a base in Europe. The Air Force pilot of this plane observed six toes on each foot of the beast and six fingers on each hand, which was first recorded of giant men more than two thousand years ago in First Chronicles, chapter 20, verse 6. Its fingernails were pointed, the pilot says, and its heels were wrapped with skin or canvas similar to a moccasin. Its odor was overpowering, as if it had avoided taking a bath for a decade. Also the pilot estimated its weight at 1100 pounds... over half a ton.

Chain of command insisted the Special Forces unit re-write their after-action reports to eliminate any reference to the size of the creature. Today the military denies this confrontation ever took place. Even the death record of corporal Markowitz has been "covered up". But this event is said to explain why, when U.S. combatants are trained in cave fighting, instead of aiming for center mass they are instructed to aim high, in order to target the face of the enemy.

Giants and Anakim

We will look for the reason why the Gods destroyed most living Creatures on Earth by a Flood, a disaster carefully planned by the Gods. As discussed in chapter 3 and 4, most of the "players" who deserved their punishment are already know to us.

Roots of the Nephilim

There is another enigma contained within the lines of Genesis 6, for its appears to embody two entirely different traditions. Look again at the words of Genesis 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. They speak of the Sons of God coming unto the Daughters of Men, while in contrast with Genesis 6:4

The meaning seemed clear enough: there were two quite separate traditions entangled here, one concerning the fallen race known to the early Israelites as the Nephilim (mentioned elsewhere in the Pentateuch as the progenitors of a race of Giants called Anakim), and the other concerning the bene ha-Elohim, the Sons of God, who are equated directly with the Angels of God in Jubilees tradition and the Watchers in Enoch tradition.

The Great Smithsonian Cover-Up

Has there been a giant cover-up? Why aren't there public displays of gigantic Native American skeletons at natural history museums? The skeletons of some Mound Builders are certainly on display. There is a wonderful exhibit, for example, at the Aztalan State Park where one may see the skeleton of a "Princess of Aztalan" in the museum.

There are tribes in Africa that 7 feet tall. Both the Masai and the Mandinka (aka Mandingos) are known for being tall, with the women being over 6 feet and the men close to 7. Question: "What was it like in the days of Noah?"

Jesus said in Matthew 24:38-39 " For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."

Answer: The biblical account of Noah begins in Genesis 6. Approximately 1,600 years had passed since the creation of Adam and Eve (Genesis 1:26–27). As the earth’s population exploded in number, it also exploded with evil. Long forgotten was the righteous sacrifice of Abel (Genesis 4:4) as “the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5). Verses 11 and 12 say, “Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight, and the earth was filled with violence. And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.” However, “Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord” (verse 8).

When Jesus described the events that will surround His second coming, He said, “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all” (Luke 17:26–27). Jesus was pointing out that, although the people of Noah’s day were totally depraved, they were not the least bit concerned about it. They were carrying on the events of their lives without a single thought of the judgment of God. Noah is described as “a preacher of righteousness” (2 Peter 2:5), meaning he had spent years warning his friends and neighbors what the Holy God was about to do. No one listened.

The depravity and ungodly lifestyles of the entire world at that time were enough to cause the Lord to “regret that He had made man” (Genesis 6:6). Many scholars believe that part of the need to destroy every human being except Noah and his family was the sin mentioned in Genesis 6:1–4, when “the Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them.” As evil reproduced and overtook the world, the most merciful act God could perform was to start over.

It is interesting that God allowed Noah nearly one hundred years to complete the building of the ark. Through all that time, God patiently waited (1 Peter 3:20). Scripture seems to imply that Noah preached to the people of that time about what was coming (Hebrews 11:7). They did not believe Noah and were content with their wickedness and idolatry. Their hearts were hard and their ears dull. No one repented, and no one cared to seek God.

Jesus said that the world will be much the same before He returns to set up His earthly kingdom (Matthew 25:31–33). He warned us to “be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” Second Timothy 3:1–4 gives us a clear picture of the state of the world before Jesus comes and most likely also describes the world in the days of Noah. That verse says, “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.” It is becoming increasingly obvious that, to understand what the world was like in the days of Noah, we only need to watch the evening news.

This study will concentrate on the days of Noah, specifically looking at the first ten verses of Genesis chapter 6.

Gen 6:1-2 ‘When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose.’

In describing the days of Noah, we read of a strange event that kicks things off. The Bible says that the ‘sons of God’ married the ‘daughters of men’! The ‘sons of God’ is a term used to denote angels [1] , so the chapter starts with the dramatic increase and contact between the human and spirit worlds. I’m not saying that the end times leading up to the return of Jesus will see the same type of sexual union that occurred here in Genesis 6 (it may, but there doesn’t seem to be any scriptures that support this), but there will be a dramatic increase in the contact between humans and the spirit world as the time of Jesus’ return draws closer. We see this already whether it is through the increased use of spirit guides, alien encounters, or open satanic worship. It will continue and it will increase. If you have read anything of those who are allegedly in contact with the ‘aliens’ and ‘spirit guides’ you will notice the same claims coming through that these beings are going to show themselves physically to those on earth soon. 

The corrupting of the human race.

Gen 6:4 ‘The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.’

The second point that should be made about the ‘days of Noah’ is the corruption of the human race that occurred. We read above in verse 4 that the Nephilim were on the earth in those days… and not only then because we read, in a slightly haunting phrase, ‘and also afterward’ [3] . The word ‘Nephilim’ means ‘fallen ones’ and they were the giants, men of renown, who were the offspring of the fallen angels and women as mentioned above. It was Satan’s attempt to pervert God’s plan of having the Messiah come from the seed of a woman (Gen 3:15 ). As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be… This corruption of the human race was the main reason for the flood, and it is happening again. This time it is humans initiating the corruption through cloning and DNA manipulation. There very well may be good intentions involved but you cannot help but think where it will all end when a sinful fallen race decides to play God. Oh boy! What a statement. It says above that in the time of Noah, every inclination of the thoughts of mans heart was only evil, continually. Now we are certainly not at that stage yet, but we do seem to be on the way! Basic morals are changing so quickly these days. This shouldn’t surprise us for it is prophesied that

‘There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.’ (2 Tim 3:1-4)

A few months ago I heard Stuart Briscoe speak and he mentioned how when he was young there were many virtues and many vices... many things that were morally right and to be desired, and many things that were morally wrong and were to be shunned and rejected. Today, Briscoe said, we are heading for a society that has only one virtue and one vice. That one virtue, that one thing to be desired above all is ‘tolerance’ [4] . And the one vice, that one ‘wicked’ thing that is to be rejected and shunned is of course, ‘intolerance’. In the days of Noah, men’s hearts were wicked and the Lord was grieved that He had made man. His judgement had to come. So shall it be in the coming of the Son of Man.

What is Branhamism?
Branhamism, William Branham Question: "What is Branhamism? Who was William Branham?"

Answer: The term Branhamism refers to the teachings of the “prophet” William M. Branham (1909–1965), although those who follow his teaching would not necessarily like the term. His followers might refer to themselves as Branhamites or Message Believers. They believe that William Branham, or “Brother Branham,” was the final prophet to the church, in fulfillment of Malachi 4:5. Branham, who was quite influential in the heretical Latter Rain Movement, was to be the one to restore the church to the true apostolic faith.

William Branham was born in 1909 in Cumberland County, Kentucky. He says his parents told him that a light hovered over him in his cradle. He claims to have had a revelation from God at the age of 3. After a nearly fatal accident, he claimed to have heard a voice—another revelation from God—and at that point he began to seek God. He got involved in the Pentecostal movement and eventually was ordained as an Independent Baptist minister, although he endorsed the teachings of Oneness Pentecostalism. He claimed to have regular visions and revelations from God.

Branham began a healing ministry in 1946 and as a faith healer made a number of incredible, high-profile claims that were later disputed or refuted (as the subjects of the healings died). He said that the same angel who followed the Israelites in the wilderness followed him—he even claimed to have captured this angel on film. The photographic “evidence” shows a kind of halo over Branham while he was preaching. In the mid-1950s, his following began to decline, and with the decline came more and more controversial and sensational teachings.

On Christmas Eve 1965, William Branham died as a result of injuries in a car accident. At first his followers thought he would be raised from the dead, and his burial was postponed. Finally, he was buried on April 11, 1966 (and has not been heard or seen since, except for messages recorded before his death). Branham is buried under a large pyramidal tombstone in Jefferson, Indiana. On one side of the tombstone are the names of the seven churches in Revelation, and on the opposite side are the names of the churches’ “angels,” which Branham and his followers interpreted to be various ages of the church and the primary minister to the church in that age:

One group, “Branham Christ” goes so far as to say that Christ is the “Alpha” and William Branham is the “Omega” and that Jesus is the “Only Begotten Son” and William Branham is the “First Begotten Son.” It is clear from their official website that they see Jesus and Branham as equal if not equivalent. Another group believes that Branham will be resurrected first and then call for the return of Christ. Another group listens to the recorded messages of William Branham as their only teaching. And there is at least one group that has great respect for Branham’s teachings but has attempted to correct them.

The teachings of William Branham are a bit jumbled and contradictory and difficult to categorize. But some of the most controversial doctrines are as follows: modalism (God exists as only one Person but reveals Himself in different modes), baptism in the name of Jesus only (believers baptized using the Trinitarian formula must be re-baptized), the serpent seed doctrine (Eve’s sin in the Garden was having sex with the snake), annihilationism (hell is not a place of everlasting punishment), Word Faith (sometimes dubbed “name it and claim it”), the idea that the zodiac and the Egyptian pyramids are equal to written Scripture, and of course his own exalted place in the plan of God and the history of the church along with his exaggerated claims to miraculous revelation and healing abilities.

Added to Branham’s occultism and heretical, anti-Trinitarian teaching is his false prophecy. Branham made a “personal prediction” that the end of the world would occur in or before 1977. The teachings of William Branham are a jumble of bad theology, twisted Scripture passages, and personal pride. Christians would do well to steer clear.

1. DNA is the information storage system for biological life. Information systems requires a mind to make them. Information also requires a mind.

2. The earth cannot build itself just like a building cannot build itself. There needs to be a builder. In fact the universe cannot originate itself, just like a computer cannot originate itself. There needs to be a creator.

3. Humans are very different from animals. Humans do stuff that animals could never do. This is because humans are made in God's image(Genesis 1:26-27). Humans got their conscience from God. Animals aren't made in God's image so they don't have consciences.

4.The bible mentions that the earth hangs on nothing (Job 26:7). This is true. The earth exists in space. God knew this way before humans did. After all God created the earth.

5. The bible also supports the law of biogenesis. Biogenesis says life only comes from life. Observations and tests confirm that life CANNOT come from non-life. God is the ultimate life-giver.

Unfortunately, the investigation by the show took place too late to prevent the damage of a widely spread rumor in the Christian community.
Rendalen has now issued an official statement about his actions and the whole incident, which says: 'The story is nothing more than a Christian "urban legend" without basis in reality.'

One is that the respected magazine, 'Biblical Archaeology Review', printed a story about the Drilling to Hell story, thinking it was so outrageous that readers would get a kick out of it. Many of the readers took the article seriously, however, and either started passing it around as substantiation of the story, or wrote to the magazine to complain that it shouldn't have given it respectability.
Secondly, in August of 1990, I was contacted by the pastor of a small church in Flagstaff, Arizona, who informed me that he had proof that this story was true. Apparently, a man from his church, who was believed to be a PhD in Physics from MIT, came forward in private to claim that he was a scientist who had been on a secret mission in Russia for the past year and had met with Mikhail Gorbachev several times. He verified that the Drilling to Hell story was indeed true. He claimed:
A hole was drilled deep into the crust of the earth in Siberia and a large cavity was found. Unfortunately, news of this was leaked to the press and was distorted. It is true that a recording was made of the sounds from deep in the hole, but the intense heat destroyed the microphone in spite of special cooling material around it, so that only seventeen seconds of sounds could be captured. At the present time, scientists are drilling a second hole to confirm what was found the first time. And a better system is being developed for cooling the microphone.

The scientist went on to claim that he was helping to design this microphone and was returning to Siberia shortly to further document the phenomenon. He planned to return in about a year with more confirming information on this amazing phenomenon.
Six months later, I got a letter from another member of the church saying that this man had turned out to be neither a graduate of MIT nor a scientist. In fact, he had skipped town with over $20,000 collected from church members who wanted to help finance his expedition.
How did this story originate? Again, we will never really know. It is possible that somewhere in the world there has been a spooky experience during deep drilling operations. I don't know. According to an August 1989 article in 'Science' magazine, there is a Russian deep hole drilling project in Kola, near Murmansk, about 150 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Another German deep drilling experiment in north-east Bavaria has discovered warmer temperatures than were expected at certain drilling levels, although nothing even close to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
Characteristic of many urban legends, this story was alleged to have occurred in an obscure part of the world where it would be virtually impossible to track down the facts. And once the story got started, people began quoting one another's newsletters to validate their own. This is the stuff of which tabloid newspapers are made..
