My parents had gone to the meeting and I was having a beer with my friends as we watched a replay of Major League last Sunday morning. The thought occurred to me “rumpy pumpy! I am saved too!” I am saved, my friends are all saved, those playing the game are saved, and so too are all those watching. Jesus saves!!
We don’t need “to work out our salvation with fear and trembling” as Paul put it.
No parents are going to put me on a guilt trip! I have been reading these bulletin boards for some time now and I know the truth that its not about works. I can dress as I want, drink and smoke what I want, go out with who I want, say what I want and be as much a fool as I chose to be. If I have just one biblical talent, I can give it back at the end of life with the assurance that Jesus has provided – period.
Thanks all…

My wife and I went to meeting and left our rebelious teenager at home with his friends watching a replay of Major League on a Sunday morning. The thought occurred to me;
"Have I earned my salvation yet?"
"I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't chew, I don't do drugs, I don't have long hair, I don't have facial hair, I don't wear shorts, I don't wear women's clothing, I don't have an ex-wife, I don't have a non-professing wife, I don't have a wife who cuts her hair, I don't have a wife who wears jeans, I don't have a wife who wears makeup, I don't have a wife who wears jewelry, I don't watch TV, I don't watch movies, I don't listen to the radio, I don't play video games, I don't read books, I don't read magazines, I don't read newspapers, I don't play sports, I don't lust after the sister workers, I don't miss any meetings, and most importantly I don't question the workers, but what if I've missed something? Will the blood of this Jesus guy save me? Can I depend on that? Surely not!"
"I will ask the workers what else I have to do to work my way to heaven."
"I love my rebelious son, but I don't want to go to hell with him and everyone else outside The Truth."
"I wish my son had never fallen into the devil's trap: those evil internet websites that tell people evil facts about The Truth."
"No researcher or historian is going to tell me the facts about The Truth. The Truth is a perfect way for an imperfect people."
"God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, damned."
"Now, I am beyond the ability of Jesus to save me, so I must focus on earning my salvation. What else must I do?"
"Thank you God, for the perfect and only way; The Truth!"

You don't need to ask the workers, you read the same book they do. We are all held to account by the same standards

GOD I WONT ASK THE WORKERS WHAT I MUST DO AS WE ALL READ THE SAME BIBLE
GOD I AM THANKFUL THAT THE TRUTH OF THE SCRIPTURE COMES FROM THOSE WHO LIVE IT, AND NOT ARCHAEOLOGISTS, CRITICAL THEORISTS, MARXIST DECONSTRUCTORS AND THE GENERAL WISE AND PRUDENT OF THIS WORLD.
GOD I HOPE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE CONDEMNED THEMSELVES.
GOD I KNOW I HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY, A COMMANDMENT GIVEN, AND STANDARD SET IN CHRIST
THANK YOU GOD FOR A PERFECT AND ONLY WAY GIVEN THROUGH YOUR TRUTH

So Christ isn't your salvation. He made it possible and you have to follow through.

I think Task is just stiring. No one said you can do what you want, that is what the 2x2s think grace means but no one said it means that. When you accept Jesus as Lord and savior the Holy Spirit comes into our lives and convicts is of sin. So grace is not doing what you want, but what God wants.

Yes, and Jesus Christ set us FREE to be able to do what God wants. We were in bondage to sin, but now we are liberated to live for God!! Someone else said it well...we have LIBERTY not LICENSE. Liberty FROM sin, not license TO sin.
Blessings, Linda

Hehe, when I was a teenager I would skip-out on meetings so I could have the house to my self so that I could play my Beatle's & Stone's albums full blast. One time my dad got fed up...and started trying to break my LPs over his knee, when I wanted to stay home and rock out. This was 40 years ago. Couldn't care less about football....then or now.

As I see it, the whole issue on this board comes down to one single point - people here debate whether Jesus left us an example, or Jesus did it all for us. Am I right? Prue No. You are not right. (Get it?)

I think you could well be right Prue.
Could I ask you a question please?
How much glory for salvation belongs to God?

Prue,
The way I see it, it is both, not either / or! Yes, Jesus has done it all if you mean, making me acceptable to God through the sacrifice on the cross. This is called justification y faith in Him. But if I am really justified by faith, then the fruit of that faith will show forth, that is, through letting Him live in and through me (following his example if you like). I used to go to meetings, and now I go to Baptist church in Canberra. The folks I fellowship would see it this way too.
We cannot save ourselves - Jesus has done that. We cannot say we are saved, and then go and live with no evidence to show it (not to save us, but to show we are saved!). One brings forth the other. Wirks do not save. But saving faith produces works. Those works are not the traditions of men preached by many workers though, THAT is where a lot of the disagreement comes in.
Hope this helps.

Selah, you said we don't have license to sin - can you tell me what "sin" is? I believe sin is whatever we do that is outside God's plan and purpose for our personal lives and for the plan and purpose of His Kingdom. Blessings, Linda

Sorry about the shocking spelling mistakes Prue and everybody. I have a key-sticking keyboard since one of the kids tipped orange juice into it!
Also, I didn't read over it before I posted. Hopefully you can get the gist of my message even with the typos and missing words

Al, I'm glad to hear "wirks" don't save--because of all the things I'm uncertain over--I KNOW I don't have any of those!!! Linda, James 4:17 also says; "Therefore to him that knoweth todo good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." (Just thought I'd toss that into the conversation).

So, all, is this Lask character right in doing what he/she does/doesn't do? Is to swear a sin, really? (where does it say otherwise?) To forsake church a sin? Smoke dope?
We are accused of not being specific - can any exes be specific?

We are accused of not being specific - can any exes be specific? Hi Wondering, Some "sins" are very clear and obvious in scripture. These are commonly and easily understood....Lying, Adultery, Murder etc. Some things are not specifically mentioned, but common sense makes them clear. (Doing something that is harmful to the health of my body, which is the temple of God) Other things are more a matter of personal conscience, which we have to weigh according to God's word and His direction for us personally. He may ask me to refrain from doing something for His specific purposes, yet He may not request that of anyone else. Romans 14 is helpful concerning conscience matters. Blessings, Linda

Hi all. Is someone prepared to say that Lask is wrong here? I am not prepared to exclaim, "“rumpy pumpy! I am saved too!...I can dress as I want, drink and smoke what I want, go out with who I want, say what I want and be as much a fool as I chose to be."Such a view is inconsistent with my understanding of Scripture.

Hi Prue,
I'm wondering if you missed my question in response to a post you made about the whole issue on this board.
It was: "How much glory for salvation belongs to God?"
Thank you.
