An open letter to Leslie White. Dear Leslie, I do not know where you are staying since leaving the work, but I trust that someone reading this can get this letter to you. I have been giving much thought to the events that have led to this point. As I read the scripture, I like to see how the Spirit leads in situations to heal and forward the Kingdom of heaven. I consider what it would be like to be in your shoes. You are past 75 years old now. As you look back over your many years in the work, you can reflect on the many who have come to know Jesus through your ministry. There are handfuls of lives who have entered into the harvest field under your care. I love the spirit of the apostles we read of in the Gospels. When Jesus was telling his apostles that there was one who would betray him, the response was, "Is it I, Lord?" This is the Godly response in any situation. Then Jesus himself in John 17 tells His Father that "Those that thou gavest me, have I kept, and none are lost except the son of perdition." So Jesus felt personally responsible for those who were under His care. We often think of the work you have been involved in for the past 40+ years to be one of the greatest works on earth, to see the re-creation of God in the lives of men and women as they sit under the sound of the gospel. Now that you are no longer available to be preaching the gospel, there is a work that can be done which may be more beneficial than all the work that has been done so far, that is the work of restoration in the lives you have had charge of over your lifetime. If you consider every worker who hasn't continued that you have had charge of since becoming an overseer many years ago, and every family who has stopped going to meeting, you will find a great work of restoration that can be done. It will require a spirit of humility to give up the right to be right and accept full responsibility for every soul that has been hindered in any way. If you humble yourself and approach every situation with the spirit of "Is it I?" that is the cause in any way that someone has stumbled, then restoration can begin. If you take responsibility for every soul you have had dealings with and treat it as though their blood is on your hands, and do whatever is necessary to see that souls are healed then restoration can continue. Imagine the souls who were called to the work being restored to serve agan!! There were 14 who left the work in a five year period in Colorado. Add to that the hundreds of other workers who were unable to continue under your leadership over the years. There is such a massive wealth of souls hanging in the balance. No one is against you, Leslie, for your soul is in the balance as well. There are many people praying for God's Will to be accomplished. I believe Jesus Christ is standing at the right hand of God, and all the angels are watching and praying that you would have strength enough to humble yourself, that you also could be restored, and all would not be lost. As for the current situation and what you have been accused of, only you and those involved know the truth of the matter. But all God's children and the Kingdom of Heaven are taking notice if you are choosing to subject yourself to man's laws, or hold yourself accountable to the laws of the Kingdom of Heaven. If we rely on the laws that men have put on the books to keep society civil, then know that those laws can be manipulated such that innocent men are found guilty, and guilty men go free. As hard as men strive for true justice, sometimes justice is not served and penalties are to soft, or too harsh for the individual case. What would it look like to trust in the laws of God? Again, if you were to humble yourself and address each of your accusers, acknowledging any misconduct on your behalf, including even the hint of impropriety, and then throw yourself on their mercies and beg for their forgivness, you might find that with God's strength they could find it in their heart to forgive you. They could then choose to release you from the bonds of man's laws, but know that you would be held accountable to a much higher Court. There are those ready to forgive, but it is impossiable to forgive someone who feels they have done nothing wrong. It would be far better to admit being wrong on this side of eternity, than to wait and find no forgiveness possiable on the other side. A brother in Christ. Oh! Did Leslie preach the Gospel, or "another Gospel" as it speaks of in Galations, where Jesus is not enough, where works save?

Drop your stones put up the sword...... Jesus Friend of sinners we have strayed so far away We cut down people in your name but the sword was never ours to swing Jesus friend of sinners the truth's become so hard to see The world is on their way to You but they're tripping over me Always looking around but never looking up I'm so double minded A plank eyed saint with dirty hands and a heart divided Oh Jesus friend of sinners Open our eyes to world at the end of our pointing fingers Let our hearts be led by mercy Help us reach with open hearts and open doors Oh Jesus friend of sinners break our hearts for what breaks yours Yeah... Jesus friend of sinners the one who's writing in the sand Make the righteous turn away and the stones fall from their hands Help us to remember we are all the least of these Let the memory of Your mercy bring your people to their knees Nobody knows what we're for only against when we judge the wounded What if we put down our signs crossed over the lines and loved like You did [ Lyrics from: www.lyricsty.com/casting-crowns-jesus-friend-of-sinners-lyrics.html ] Oh Jesus friend of sinners Open our eyes to world at the end of our pointing fingers Let our hearts be led by mercy Help us reach with open hearts and open doors Oh Jesus friend of sinners break our hearts for what breaks yours You love every lost cause; you reach for the outcast For the leper and the lame; they're the reason that You came Lord I was that lost cause and I was the outcast But you died for sinners just like me a grateful leper at Your feet 'Cause You are good, You are good And Your love endures forever You are good, You are good and Your love endures forever You are good, You are good and Your love endures forever You are good, You are good and Your love endures forever Oh Jesus friend of sinners Open our eyes to world at the end of our pointing fingers Let our hearts be led by mercy Help us reach with open hearts and open doors Oh Jesus friend of sinners break our hearts for what breaks Yours And I was the lost cause and I was the outcast Yeah... You died for sinners just like me, a grateful leper at Your feet

Those requiring submission do not themselves submit to God. kinda ironic I think ken Even more ironic is that the person they are submitting to is an all powerful being. Why jerk the humans around? If you are omnipotent and omniscient and want people to submit - make it so. By most definitions god already knows the outcome so you have to wonder what kind of satisfaction a supreme being gets from messing with humans to achieve a predetermined result.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe there is some truth to it? Love and harmony is not a new concept. Many masters taught it before Jesus. Did you ever wonder why very few of these, if any, could be shown to be any more effective than a placebo or random results? Not sure what you mean Rational. Love and harmony is everyone's responsibility. I was only referring to the so called 'masters' like Buddha and Jesus, because that is what most people relate to when we talk about those things.

That is because Jesus is the King of all the earth. No other person was perfect and no one else could die for all of man's sins. His name is above every name. I disagree with this completely.

Drop your stones put up the sword......
Paul disagrees. Galations 1: 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Galations 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

James 4:11-12 11 Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. 12 There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another? NKJV
James 5:9 9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door! NKJV
Heb 10:30 30 For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine; I will repay," says the Lord. And again, "The LORD will judge His people." NKJV
2 Tim 4:1 4:1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: NKJV
Rom 4:13 13 For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. NKJV
Rom 14:10 10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. NKJV
All of these speak of judging the hearts of men, which, as the following verse say, is the sole responsibility of Jesus.
Ps 7:8-9 8 The LORD shall judge the peoples; Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, And according to my integrity within me. 9 Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, But establish the just; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds. NKJV
Ps 50:4-6 4 He shall call to the heavens from above, And to the earth, that He may judge His people: 5 "Gather My saints together to Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice." 6 Let the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself is Judge. NKJV
John 5:22 22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, NKJV
Acts 10:42-43 42 And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. NKJV
We cannot discern the hearts of men, and therefore, though we can discern and judge what men do, and discern and judge what men say, we are in no position to judge their hearts.

Bulsi, you are misapplying God's word. I am not judging. I am not calling LW a hypocrite or saying he did anything wrong. Leslie is in a pseudo-Christian fellowship. That is what Paul was speaking about. The Scripture has condemned changing the Gospel of grace. Have you not heard Leslie support the pseudo-Christian teachings of works and of "the only right way" that is based on where you meet, what you wear, who you hear the Gospel from, how to earn salvation, etc? Find yourself some Christians who base their teachings on the Bible.

Are you an advocate of letting anyone in the church do whatever they want to do without any sort of reprimand or rebuke? If so, then aren't the overseers who have rebuked or excommunicated the friends for any sort of infraction disqualified as leaders? Should we disregard any sort of rebuke or censure or excommunication or rule of any sort in the church and disregard any authority in the church? What is your feeling about this? And, when do the workers lose their authority? When the majority vote them out or when they abuse their authority regardless of their place? Can a lowly saint who is living a sincere and holy life before God rebuke a leader who continues to abuse his authority? I really don't see where you are going with your selection of verses and doctrine of not ever saying anything about what a brother does that is wrong. If we care for their souls, we WILL say something. If the church is headed in a wrong direction, we would not be responsible if we did not say something.

I would like to know what the details were that caused so many workers to leave the work under Leslie’s leadership. Can someone please elaborate on that for me? You can pm me if necessary. I, like others, have been pretty blown away by this whole Leslie White thing. I have known Leslie my entire life, as a child, as a teenager, as a young adult, and now I am approaching my golden years, and my personal experience and observations of Leslie were that he was closer to God than anyone else I have ever met in my entire lifetime. To me, he was a modern day Moses – a man who understood God and who could communicate God’s message clearer than anyone else I knew. There were many times in my life that I was troubled about something and went to Leslie for guidance and I was so grateful for his wisdom and for the spiritual advice he gave me. As a young woman in my early 20’s, I was very troubled about the work and talked extensively with Leslie about it; there were even times I talked with him in complete privacy, with no one else around or nearby, and not once did he ever say or do anything that offended me, nor did he ever say or do anything inappropriate to me. My visits with him were always spiritual, and he encouraged me to work out my choices and decisions with the God of Heaven – something that more workers need to try doing. He always gave me sound spiritual advice and encouraged me to pray about things that were troubling me. When I first found out about William Irving and realized that “the truth” could not be traced all the way back to Jesus as I had been taught all my life, I was devastated. I contacted some overseers who were not willing to discuss the matter with me and who avoided me like the plague once I mentioned William Irvine’s name, so I went to Leslie searching for the truth, and he gave me the answers I needed to hear. His kindness towards me has always been pure and Christ-like. There were times in my life when I felt I was beyond God’s mercy and it was Leslie who assured me that God’s love and mercy was greater than I could ever imagine or comprehend and that I was not beyond God’s love or his forgiveness. Leslie’s love for God, his knowledge of God’s word, his faith in Jesus, his genuine gratefulness for what Jesus did for us on the cross, his willingness to take troubled souls under his wing and help them understand the gospel story, etc., etc., is/was beyond commendable. I am confident that he has done way more good than he has done wrong in his lifetime, and I know that he has helped hundreds of souls just as he helped me throughout my life. I have had experiences with workers who “ruled with an iron hand” or who “could have” offended me if I had let myself dwell on how they treated or talked to me, but instead, I took my troubled spirit to God where I found peace and the power to forgive them, realizing that they are only human. I have known many friends who were offended by the words or actions of workers who over stepped their boundaries as a worker so I know it does happen, but for me, Leslie was never one of those workers. The only thing I ever received from Leslie was friendship, compassion, spiritual guidance and an open invitation to contact him if and when I needed to talk, and for that I am very grateful. I don’t know if he is guilty or not guilty, but from what I am reading on these blogs, it would appear that most folks already feel that he is guilty. But even if he is guilty, I hope we will not forget that when the adulteress woman was “caught in the very act of sin” and the disciples were so insistent on her getting the punishment she deserved, Jesus’ response was "He who is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone." . . . and when not one disciple could cast a stone because they felt convicted of their own guilt and sin, Jesus said to the woman, “Hast no man condemned thee? . . . . “Neither do I condemn thee.” I know of elders who had meeting in their homes for years and received nothing but the highest praise from the friends & workers for their wonderful example and for all the wonderful things they were doing for the sake of the kingdom, when I knew that what was really going on behind the scenes would have shocked those who were sure that these elders had already secured a seat in heaven. We cannot see into people’s hearts nor can we read people’s minds so we don’t know what is truly going on in anyone’s life – only God can see the true picture. Therefore, all we can do is work out our own salvation and focus on keeping our own hearts honest and open with the God of heaven and pray that others will have the power do the same. Hopefully we can examine our own hearts and lives and think about whether or not we can really afford to be casting stones at Leslie, or if instead, we should be using our energy to pray for him and for the SW and for anyone else who may feel that they were offended by him or others. God has obviously allowed all of this to happen for a reason and hopefully those who are feeling discouraged and offended will be able to find peace again through prayer. A letter of admittance or apology from Leslie (if he is guilty), is not what will help folks be restored - that can only be accomplished through fervent prayer. I’m sure God is anxiously waiting for us to bring our troubled, confused, heavy hearts to him so he can begin to help us all heal and grow from these experiences.

You are not the first here to have a hard time with the LW fiasco. I hope you find peace and I hope that truth finally becomes determined at some point. It's difficult for anyone who is involved in these kinds of incidents. It has very wide repercussions.

Even the writers of the bible could see the benefit of chapters and verses, although it did take them 1300 years! If I remember correctly, it was not the disciples but the woman's accusers who were looking to punish. The story was told to point out the faults of the Jews, not the disciples.

Thank you for writing this last part. I did not know Leslie personally, only as a convention speaker, so I can't speak to the rest. I believe that what you have written here is true for many, if not all, offenses against each other, along with following scripture in dealing with offense. Criminal actions need attention from authorities, however.

And so sorry for the grammar patrol who think they are intellectually superior to everyone else, but only possesses enough neural connections to point out simple grammatical or syntax errors that nobody cares about. It came from your heart I liked it...... keep posting If you are trying to communicate with people wouldn't you want to do it in a way that was most effective? Even the writers of the bible could see the benefit of chapters and verses, although it did take them 1300 years! If I remember correctly, it was not the disciples but the woman's accusers who were looking to punish. The story was told to point out the faults of the Jews, not the disciples. Rational the writers of the bible couldn't get the sign on the cross right.. It's different in each of the books.Did it make the event less meaningful? I think not. 1.(Matthew 27:37) - "And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS." 2.(Mark 15:26) - "And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS." 3.(Luke 23:38) - "And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS." 4.(John 19:19-20) - "And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. 20This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin."

It would be helpful if you could be more specific as to (i) what it was that you were searching for and (ii) what were the answers LW gave you that you needed to hear. I'd say many around here were equally devastated to learn of the William Irvine palava and never got the answers they were looking for. Matt10

Meaningful to whom? Does it matter? It would cause me concern if I was of the belief that the bible was inerrant. If the record of words written on a sign are not in agreement how can you believe other, more subtle things, are correct? And this is something that, for many, is very important.

There could be a vast difference between what you want to hear and what you need to hear. At he same time they could the same.
