Yes the letter has been sent (at least to those in TAS) Do you know how the letter was distributed? Was it by the workers?

unsure sorry, can ask the question It would be interesting to know Ian. To my knowledge, in Victoria the letter has not been sent out by the workers. I am not sure how many people in Vic are actually aware that a letter exists. The workers were supposed to be letting people know about the perp, but no one has spoken to us yet. Maybe it is a calm before the storm??

It would be interesting to know who the letter was sent to as I have not spoken to any who have received it in Tasmania, however the issue is becoming more discussed amongst the people and a number of people have accessed the letter on the Wings site and are discussing it. The information from Wings has been helpful in regard to addressing the issue with children, Thanks.

there must be some tasmanina folk who could tell on this board how the letter was distributed. Surely, it would be a letter sent to all the folks in tasmania, not just willy nilly by the friends. Does anyone know if PD is in Tas taking the lead on this??

Thanks Ju. it is fairly clear that the distribution has been selective then.

Thanks Ju. it is fairly clear that the distribution has been selective then. I suspect that the letter has not been sanctioned by the workers and has been sent by some of the friends. I fear that the workers think that by taking action against the perp that this is all they need to be doing. They are probably content to let the "grapevine" spread the news around. The trouble with this course of action is that the truth gets distorted and the church leadership is seen to be weak and unable to face up to the truth. The "Hobart Council" will be a real test of how the workers handle the situation. If they fail and try to continue to cover up the truth then I fear the fellowship is in for a very tough time.

Spiders, I couldn't agree more. I must say I have been very suprised in following this tragic happening, that the australian workers are co-operating with the Wings team in this way. It is good that they have been, but knowing the conservative manner of the Australian workers, to be in direct collaboration with Wings almost seems unbelievebale to me.

i can't post on the main board so someone kind might transfer this to its right place on the workers deleting facebook accounts thread. The worker who has sexually assaulted young girls down in vict/tas was on facebook, i was told by someone who was his friend. Maybe others here were friends with him. Wonder what was he like on facebook, any suspicions of him? did he use fb to groom victims?

1. Accused on Facebook He was not on for very long. ( 6 months?) Have spoken with some who were his 'friends'. No evidence of it being used as suggested here.
2. Suicide at convention time. This was suicide of sister and a brother. There was nothing to suggest anything of this nature. Reread their sad story.
It is reasonable these questions are being asked.

It is not a crime to have an inquiring mind.
The simple answer is that there is NO connection.
To try to make a connection is morally wrong.
Have some compassion for the Children's family who don't need this sad matter to be replayed and used as a weapon against them and what they believe in.

does anyone know if the Victorian[ Australia ] Worker involved has been to court and if not when is it set Geoff From what I heard, the court date has been moved to sometime in 2011. It seems that here has been some extenuating circumstances which has led to a broadening of the investigation. I heard that there are now 4 workers that have been implicated in regard to instances of CSA, so it looks as if that may have something to do with why the investigation has broadened. The authorities are still hoping that victims will come forward and file statements/reports which will help with the investigation. There are some who do not wish to file a report because they do not want their parents or the workers to find out that they were abused. A reminder...... There is no need for anyone that files a report to end up with their information made public. The authorities have made it clear that they will simply accept a statement without any need to appear in court. Again, here is the contact info if you have information which you wish to report to the authorities: Leigh LAMBERT Det.Sen.Constable 29449 Warragul CIU PH: 56 227153 FAX: 56 227155 leigh.lambert@police.vic.gov.au Scott

Thought I would pass on what I am hearing from some of the friends. Seems many in Vic/Tas including some of their workers are desperate for overseas help to get a replacement overseer who isn't tarnished by the culture that has crept amongst the workers over long years. They are crying out for fresh hope and an overseer to follow the servant example of Christ. Some of the Vic/Tas workers are saying that a clean sweep is needed. If there are workers in a position to perhaps help out that are reading here, maybe they could consider helping find a replacement overseer to go and take charge while things are being investigated there. Even if they were only an interim overseer, it would probably help with the situation during the investigation that is going on. Maybe they have already heard this from some of the workers and friends that are asking for help. I know that in the past, workers from outside a troubled area have been called upon to take charge when problems have surfaced that needed taken care of. For those who don't know the situation, John Robinson who has been the overseer there suffered a stroke which has led to his being physically unable to lead the church in that area. These professing folks and workers are asking for help, so I would think that this would receive some consideration from other overseers that are concerned about the church. Scott

If there are 4 or 5 workers under investigation, not only will Victoria require new leadership, it will also require a whole new bunch of workers.
Conventions start in Australia in November, wonder if any announcements will be made at any of the Victoria/Tas conventions regarding the current CSA situation.

Conventions start in Australia in November, wonder if any announcements will be made at any of the Victoria/Tas conventions regarding the current CSA situation. I doubt if this would happen. How are people going to sit in conv and listen to the workers telling them what to do, knowing that some are under investigation for CSA?

First of all, Scott said 4; next thing someone adds 1 and now it is 4 or 5.
With all respect Ross, why would you be asked, a non professing person, to provide an overseer for VIC/TAS. Thats like the Archbishop of Canterbury providing the next Catholic Pope.
You made a statement on the role of WINGS. I respect that role.
But in my opinion, you are going far above that role in your current posts.

"Lin,
I was contacted by professing folks asking for their assistance in this matter. WINGS has been involved ONLY in assisting the workers and the professing people. We are in no way involved with investigating this situation.
The only exes that have been involved are WINGS members, and only to the extent that we have been asked to be."
I may be wrong but I am unaware of "another worker suddenly retiring" in Vic/Tas.

My prayer for Victorian Conventions is that God will provide the strength and wisdom for the friends and workers to deal with this matter in an open and transparent way, where the full extent of the problem is discussed, people are allowed to express their anger and grief. Ultimately for the fellowship to move forward with dignity and grace.

Hi there victorian! Thanks for the questions. With all respect Ross, why would you be asked, a non professing person, to provide an overseer for VIC/TAS. Thats like the Archbishop of Canterbury providing the next Catholic Pope.I don't think that anyone expects me to personally provide an overseer. I was simply posting the fact that there are professing folks asking for some help with the situation there. Since there are many workers that read here, it was thought that maybe some of them would consider helping out there in Vic/Tas. After all, it was by the intervention of workers from outside the area that got the confessed abuser removed from his worker position, so it seems reasonable that there would be hope of additional help forthcoming from other overseers. You made a statement on the role of WINGS. I respect that role. Thank you. WINGS stands for Working to INform Guide and Support, and that is what we do. But in my opinion, you are going far above that role in your current posts.Just curious as to why you think that? I am actually just posting what I am asked to really, and this is just one of many times I have done so. I may be wrong but I am unaware of "another worker suddenly retiring" in Vic/Tas.So as far as you know, the only worker that has been away from his position as a worker is the one under investigation? (not counting John Robinson) Just curious as that is a bit different then what I have been informed. Scott

Cheers Scott,
If you only report what you are asked, here is a request.
"Dear Scott,
Please advise folks that the matter you have referred to is under Police investigation and the matter will be dealt with under due process of law. Speculation does not help in Police inquires in the matter.
Wings played a role in putting the right people in contact with the right people to ensure that the matter was brought to a swift head and the appropriate action taken.
Trying to tie more workers into the investigation just clouds the issues and makes police inquires much more difficult.
Could you please ask people to desist in speculation and let the law take its due course.
Thank you"

The poster "victorian" is perhaps a worker or a worker's stooge. Well worker, getting a bit hot in the kitchen is it? Trying to stop discussions and sweep things under the carpet are we?
You may believe you can keep the friends from knowing things. You would be surprised what the friends do know!
Regarding the request you asked Scott to post, how silly to imagine that the Victorian authorities / police read here.
How silly to suggest that the authorities / police cannot deal with multiple offenders at the same time.
Interesting that in your request you seem to acknowledge there ARE multiple suspects. You really should report them to the authorities or you could be found to be an accessory after the fact.
Are you going to answer Scott's question about a recent worker retirement?

.....how silly to imagine that the Victorian authorities / police read here. The authorities are aware of both the TMB. the BTS and WINGS sites. Yeah.... they are going to read here, although I don't know how often they do so. Much the same with other investigators that have (and are) reading here...... In the article about the individual arrested in Massachusetts recently, there was a 'hotlink' in the newspaper article to WINGS. Pretty sure there were a few professing folks in that area who are now aware of WINGS who weren't before. Scott

In answer to "Victorian too", no I am not a worker nor a workers "stooge" as you put it. Nor do I have an agenda. Nor to I believe there are multiple workers under investigation.
I do not even profess. Like Scott, I have many fiends that do profess.
Nor do I believe that when a worker, who has not been of great health, leaves the work, that he should be immediately under suspicion or CSA.
