Bert It seems to me that when Paul was persecuting the church that the Lord asked him if it was hard for him to kick against the pricks.I know many have gently expressed their views without malice. Perhaps some of these posts are hard for you to ignore??
I believe that those who have asked about salvation have a confidence as I do that we indeed are saved not because of being worthy or works we have or will do but because of Gods mercy and the blood of the Lamb. I will not judge someone elses place only God can do that.

[Sylvestra Wrote] So what you are saying is that only ministers (or in the case of those who believe the workers are the only true ministers) the workers are the only ones to whom there will be a difference between their "salvation" and their "reward"?
No this is not what I am saying, Ed.
The point I made in my post was that the chapter you cited as evidence for the separation of reward and salvation, is not an address to "laypeople" (for want of a better term), and has limited applicability to them. The entire chapter refers to ministers, and to overlook or evade this fact places one on the same footing as certain Roman Catholic apologists who make precisely the same assumption so as to support their Doctrine of Purgatory.
As I thought I made clear in my post, my contention was a textual - and indeed, contextual - issue. Your inference above about what I was "intending to mean" could not have been made on the basis of anything I wrote in the previous post.

You said, "Your inference above about what I was intending to mean could not have been made on the basis of anything I wrote in the previous post." It couldn't? Really! So then you are NOT saying that since this was written to "ministers only" that ONLY ministers get a reward, or, indeed, have it burned down to nothing? E

quote in huge text (how do you do that?) "BERT, ARE YOU SAVED?"
If I stay where I am, yes. But, of course, the biggest word in the English dictionary is "if." ;D

Odd question... I wouldn't know how to answer it. Are you? What do YOU think, is the Pope himself SAVED?

Its not possible to know definitively that one is (or is not) saved. Its possible to think one knows.

Don't answer questions with questions, Is The Pope Saved?
p.s. maybe we ought to do a poll?
