It's my sense of humor -- dry humor, I've been told. It's hard to do otherwise when someone who doesn't get the joke finds fault with what they think I meant. Thanks for the explanation Bob. I miss the kind and caring Bob W who I used to know. I have my fuzzy side -- but I'm old and think out loud sometimes, too.

One religion killing members of another religion. What else is new? My god is better than your god syndrome. Christians used to kill other Christians just because they didn't agree on doctrine. And on it goes... they weren't christians then They said they were. They thought they were. How can you say they weren't. They just felt justified in killing for their God. Not like that never happened in the Bible.

They hire people to kill other people, though. even if they have a thought of death to another goes against the statues that Jesus laid down like love thy neighbour as thyself, so therefore can't be christian Even Jesus armed his apostles.

Even Jesus armed his apostles. not personally He didn't and He didn't tell them to kill Yeah sure -- he got them to secure the weapons so he wouldn't be responsible??? Second part sounds much like the NRA -- Get some guns -- if you don't touch them they won't kill anyone. I can accept the notion that Jesus wanted to perpetrate any violence; it doesn't follow that he would want them armed, not even if He knew it was his appointed time to be executed.

How many groups of Christians can you name that have not done so with the exception of some in modern times?

I call myself "Bob Williston". I on occasion refer to myself as "Chuck Sharp". This is no more fraudulent than "Bob Williston". Neither of them are or ever were my legal name, but neither are either of them aliases. So be not deceived -- there is a logical and quite normal explanation for this. My birth certificate says I am "Robert Charlie Williston". And my Naturalization Certificate says I am "Robert Charlie Sharp Williston".

How do you think he could do that without weapons?

By the way, you have human eyes, brain, interpretations etc. Why is your interpretation better or more right than mine? Oh yes, I remember, because you are chosen by God to have the Holy Spirit guiding you and I have been rejected so therefore I couldn't possibly know what you know. Lest we forget!

I was trying to figure out why YOU would suggest Jesus told the apostles to arm themselves. Why would he do that if he didn't want the possibility for violence? I have no argument with you -- I', just trying to figure out your logic.

It was this day in 1099 that Jerusalem fell to the first Crusaders. Jew had fought alongside Muslim in the defence of the city. Once the wall were overcome and the crusaders were inside the city, the majority of the inhabitants were slaughtered. Men, women and children. All in the name of God.

I can't imagine how you reconcile that with sending his apostles to get weapons. who said they would kill people? did they? Jesus should have explained what they needed swords for. Swords aren't toys, after all. They're designed to cut someone up. It doesn't seem like the apostles got a chance to kill anyone anyway. The Roman army against a few alleged pacifists. And their faith was obviously no defense on that occasion.
