How many sister workers do you know who have their own laptop? Most brothers do now, but have you noticed the sisters with them?

A sister worker had a laptop which I think was bought for her by her family. She was in our home with it. This would have been over 10 years ago. She showed my kids how to use it and they were very fascinated by it as we had a desktop model.

I'd guess that all I know under 50 have one, with a USB modem for internet access.

as far as I know in my active time in Germany I found laptops used by some brother workers. But time and life go further and this chapter will be updatet too .....

The sisters used not to be allowed a typewriter, not even the older sisters, while the young brothers were entitled to take one with them. How ironic was that?

The "poor homeless, Jesus-like servant" aspect has changed.
Since workers have accepted the relatively new mode of having a car in each area reserved for their use, the rest of the "few possessions"rule has made no sense and become redundant.
In a short while they will own houses, if not already.

many of the UK sister workers and perhaps some of the brothers carry a vintage type of PDA the Psion (ZION?) 5mx which is a book size emailing machine with a qwerty keyboard and lcd screen. Doubt it is capable of internet access but it has a version of a word processor and spreadsheet and perhaps a few more functionalities. It is only connected to line via a wire, not WIFI and is primarily an emailing machine
Another of the workers/ex workers seems to have the know how to keep these all in serviceable condition and they are often seen giving him theirs for a cable repair or whatever else they are prone to going wrong with
So there we have it, the ZION portable, but it's about 10 years behind the times

maybe they're following an eco-friendly "reuse reduce recycle" life style ? ... we still use our psions for this and that c certainly not reduced
