TODAY, NATE POSTED THE FOLLOWING (by Rick's sister) ON THE S-T BOARD, OF WHICH RICHARD WAS THE MODERATOR.
Richard died January 16 and his funeral was Jan. 23, 2008
Hi Nathan,
Thanks, for writing back. I don't see why there would be a problem with giving a message to your message board about Richard's passing. All of the Friends in his area and much of TX must already know. And of course the workers have been informed.
Richard (Rick) was doing better after his stay in the hospital, but his potassium level dropped too low due to his diabetes and it stopped his heart. He began recovering very well from that but the doctor had run a wire through his femoral artery to monitor his heart and when they took it out it tore the artery in his pelvis region. The nurses realized what happened several days afterward and he was rushed into surgery to repair the artery. He came out of surgery fine, the doctor said it was successful and he was stable but the next day his blood pressure just kept dropping and by 6 PM his eyes were fixed and dilated, no brain activity.
He was on life support for a few more hours, they called his time of death at 8:30 PM Jan, 16th. His funeral is Wed, Jan 23rd at 1:30 PM. I'm not sure which funeral home, I think it would be Cook/Walden but my dad didn't tell me all the details yet.
I know the Standing True discussion board was something he was proud to have been a part of, and I thank you for being there for him during his last trials in this life. His entire life was struggle and misery but he remained faithful to God and Jesus through it all. Rick is Home now and all worldly pain is gone.
With love,
Rick's sister
