James Walden passed away this morning I was told. He had apparently fallen last week and never got much better. Was said of him that he was thinking of others up until the last moment - even offering his seat to someone else to sit in while they were reading to him. Just so happened his chair was a wheelchair but he did not realize it and wanted others to be comfortable. Can honestly say James was truly a wonderful man and did much to help others, even my Dad when he was at one of his lowest points in his life. He will be greatly missed!

He was in Texas for many years a lot of that time in Houston area - then went to the Philippines for many years. After being there for quite some time, he came back to Texas. I believe if I remember correctly he was originally from West Texas.

Yes, I think maybe from Littlefield Texas? Can anyone confirm that? Or perhaps it was just his sister and brother-in-law who lived there -- but I think maybe his mother did also?

Yes, he was. He will be buried there after his service.

the rose...
It is hard to picture james in a wheelchair.. I knew him quite well from my time in the Philippines. He loved to preach outdoors in the 'plazas' with a big boom box...
One thing I remember James for is that he always told us at the beginning of any convention preps-
remember , we are in someone elses home and on someone elses property and we DON'T do anything here without their permission.
He is the only brother worker I can say I have such a memory of.
He felt having a gospel meeting at least six out of seven days a week and twice on sunday for sure....was more like 'earning your salt' as he put in in his West Texan.....
thanks for putting this 'info' on the board..

Yes he was a real sweet man as I recall. He did a lot to encourage my Dad when he had some of his darkest days. I will always remember him as being extremely kind. I can still see him when he laughed - his whole face lit up!
