From: xxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, September 22, 2007 4:22 PM Subject: Richard Davis passed away
Dear friends, Richard passed away about 1 p.m. today in I.C.U. of Mercy Hospital here in Sioux City. He had a cardiac arrest and went quickly in spite of the efforts of the doctors and nurses. One of the nurses was right with him with his lunch and he had told her that he wasn't hungry. Then he just suddenly stopped breathing. xxxx, xxxx, xxxx, and I had a nice little visit with him about an hour or so before that. He was quite alert at that time and was saying that many verses were coming to him and were such a comfort. In particular, he was quoting the verses in Romans 8 that say that "... all things work together for good to them who love God..." He had much peace and was telling us that if he didn't make it through that he was very grateful for everything that everyone had done for him. And he was especially grateful for the gospel coming his way many years ago and all it has meant to him. Arrangements for his service are as follows: The viewing and service will be at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home 209 East 7th Street Tama, IA 52339 The viewing will be Monday, September 24th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.. The service will be Tuesday, September 25th at 11 a.m.. Burial will be at the Haven Cemetery. There will be a luncheon after the burial, but we do not know the location yet. We will let this be all for now. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. Please pass this on to those who don't have email. Your brother in His mercy, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

As a child we used to enjoy Richard's visits because we made root beer floats, at his request, which was a treat we otherwise wouldn't have been allowed. ;D

Richard stayed in my home before his hip surgery and even then he fixed his own breakfast and washed his dishes and treated my humble home as a castle. He was a true servant!!

Richard Davis was in Germany many years. We enjoyed him alot. He made us see the happy part of the way since he wasn't involved too much in the rules and regulation things. He could speak german and dutch but always mixed them so listening to him in meetings was kind of funny.

I agree with that!! He came often to convention in Putten. I liked his way of preaching, in dutch/german with that American fat rolling "RRR"
