Did Jesus show, at any time in his life, that women have a lesser place than men?
Why do we hear so often from workers at convention or special meetings quotes from Paul's writing restricting women when Jesus said nothing to belittle women?

Yes I beleive Jesus did say that women were "less" than men.
But to clarify.. what do you mean by less?
Did you mean less in number (which shlould be fewer in number not less)
Or perhaps that women are smaller? Shorter? thinner? Weigh less? Of inferior importance?
What did you mean?

My personal impression is that Jesus went out of his way to show that we are all equal. I believe that Paul wanted Christians to fit in with the rest of society, so the role of women was diminished.

You have great faith Aileen, enough to believe what is NOT in the Bible.
There is no record of Jesus criticising women, belittling their choice of dress, suggesting that they are second to their husbands in marriage, stipulating how they should do their hair. according to the Gospels, no where in public did he rudely draw attention to women as many workers have done by speaking publicly on issues that Jesus considered unimportant.
It is surprising that workers rush in where Jesus did not tread.

Nature is a great teacher. Look at nature to see how the roles of men and women blend. Can the one exist without the other? Can one then be more than the other?
Women are often ridiculed, slighted, mocked, scorned and in meetings humilliated by brother workers, in public at conventions etc. placing great emphasis on the requirement for women's obedience to their husbands. This causes problems in otherwise happy marriages.

Jesus did NOT belittle women and as Brick stated "went out of his way to show that we are all equal". Paul's teaching was most definitely influenced i think by the cultural practices of the time... and in fact are still in place today over there.

"There is no record of Jesus criticising women,"
Can you point to where I said there was "a record" of this? No. I didn't say that. What I said was that "I believe" Jesus said it.
"less" said... "Exactly what I said "less" as in not more!!!!"
My Oxford shows the word less to mean "fewer", when used as an opposite of "more".
On this basis then, yoyu meant there are fewer women than men. Actually thats not factually correct.

You do know how to use a dictionary, presumably. If you believe that Jesus said women were less than men you need proof on which to base your belief. How can you believe he said anything without evidence. The evidence is in what he did and said as recorded in scripture. You cannot use a hypothetical situation on which to base your statement. If you do you immediately lose credibility. I believe he may have said his abc, played games with his friends as a child etc.

Equal rights do not apply in the Bible. God never said anything about equality, did he? If so where?

It is sick, sick, sick when you hear cheap jokes about women, especially from old men on the platform.
Old unmarried men, and all they can think is funny is some pathetic joke to ridicule a woman.
No manners! That's what my mother says.
