This quote is often used to cast aspersions on another's "belief." The difference between the "Devils" belief and mine is that I confess Jesus Christ as Lord, MY Lord and God, the one who I worship, my absolute in whom the fullness of God now dwells bodily. The Devils' belief does not bring such a confession nor worship of HIM, but one day they will confess Him as Lord of all.
It is asinine to imply, infer or with plausible deniability state that someone else's belief who Worship Jesus Christ as Lord and God compares to the Devils. It reflects much about the poster, little about those who's belief is being compared to the Devils. Those who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and God (not just in one God) WILL produce works along with their belief. They go together like horse and carriage.

Dennis Hi Dennis, Close your eyes, maybe you can then see something for yourself. Something from God? Shall we judge all by behavior? Lets study behavior together Dennis. Maybe we can learn something together?

dennis. i am sure what the verse - the devils believe and tremble - is meant to show that belief is meant to be beginning of a journey, not its end. you do well to point out like James in James 2 that faith without works is dead. if we confess that Jesus is our lord and king, what then but to obey? prue

Dennis. I suppose you feel I was one who made a statement such as this. Or maybe you dont and never saw it.
The bible does tell us the devil believe and tremble. I have used it to point out that it takes more than just a belief to make it and be saved. Its gonna take more than just a simple belief in Jesus.
I used it to point out of course that it is gonna take more than that because if it were that easy even the devils in this world could be saved because they know there is a God and they tremble because they fear him. They understand HE has all power over them.

Dennis I agree with Dennis on this one. Juxtaposing someone's faith with Devil's belief in One God, is tantamount to passing judgment on anothers faith because of their different lifestyle choices. If the person subject to the criticism has traits that are Godly (i.e. displays fruits of the Spirit), then the specific details of their lifestyle is irrelevant. James was suggesting that Devil's belief in One God wasn't substantiated by any Godly actions, and hence was no demonstration of faith. He was encouraging the readers of his letter to search for physical evidence of faith. The mistake often made is a form of begging the question [Logical Fallacy], for example, that hair in bun <-> fruit of The Spirit. The double implication is incorrect.
