I wonder, during the length of time that TMB has been around, how many people have converted either from 2x2ism to being X, or from being X have gone back into the 2x2 fold...based upon what they have read here?

Probably no-one. You might find some who would say what they found here helped them clarify their thoughts and was one of the factors in their decision to (re)join or leave.
The old 2x2 list (which is still active I believe) was certainly a means of information which helped clarify my thinking, but I couldn't say I left because of what I found there. There are certainly some here who have left during the time they've been participating on this and other forums.

No way to know... Nor can we know how many have benefited from the websites.

I agree with both of you.
I strongly believe in freedom of speech and in truth--and think that both are necessary in order to have a well-balanced (and 'healthy") church...or board...or "relationship" of any kind. God also seems to support "liberty" (the spirit): and truth.
Plus: He has said (in Romans 8:28) that all things will work to the good--so--I believe that whether one stays (or goes) "good" will come out of everything...and that all will benefit from the truth that becomes known.

While I wasn't converted from unbeliever to Christian based on reading a message board, I certainly was led from ignorance (regarding the f&w's fellowship) through the info I gathered on the VOT/TTT, the old PMB & glee's chatroom. All of those places gave me enough information to ignite my spiritual curiosity ..... which led me to personal Bible reading & prayer. It all began with my need to either prove the validity of what I was reading online, or personally see it as untruth. At first I wasn't sure what to believe. All I asked God to do was help me to spiritually see clearly. When I look back now, it's absolutely amazing to me how bit by bit ... step by step ... God led me to people, events & understanding. The message boards were important at first, and so was my ability to post anonymously. I had fears of my professing family finding out I was questioning "God's way", yet I really needed those "friends" who were willing to discuss issues with us "exes". Because of those connections, I believe I was able to move beyond any feelings of anger or bitterness. (I hate the way that word is often applied to those who leave the f&w's.) I think the boards, websites & chats all have a role to play, and I'm so grateful for those who are willing to take the time & make the effort to keep them running. Thanks to all of you.

I mildly disagree. I don't think any real good comes from blindly following what I believe is false teaching. I think good may come if someone stays knowing the real truth and having their eyes wide open. People who just go along to get along might be in for some surprises.

Oh, by the way, I was on my way out when I started reading the information on the net.

Hello Spiderman,
I agree with your post. In it's entirity. Good won't come from those who blindly follow the false teachings. But it can come from those who do see the real truth--and cease upholding the false.
Happy camper on another thread menioned the hidden tvs. Which have been hidden for ages. So: in other words, those who were hidng the tvs weren't just hiding their tvs...they were also hiding the fact that they disagreed with the "doctrine(?)"...or "stuff"...that went with it.
They just didn't...say so. (And, of those, those who disagreed with whatever--in the past--just quietly faded away...taking their "opinions"--or "insights" (depending on how a person see it)--WITH them!
The big difference today (then): isn't that everyone's NOT in agreement...BUT--that the "disagreeing" is becoming (I think) more open. And, the reason, IMO, is because the exes aren't just quietly vanishing away. And communications are taking place between the two different groups. Which then results in: the questioning; examining: new awareness: knowledge--and even support--coming "in" (into our group): and the "troubled waters" as all try to deal with...so much.
MORE surprises!...oh no...no more...please. (In fact, if there are more: let's just save them and give them to the next generation...)
If one believes "the old": and another believes "the new"--are they both not going to be saved--if both have a clear conscience before God...?
(By the way: instead of them having a typing test--before we can post--don't you think it'd be better if they had an intelligence test???) What's with this "security check" thing???
