For some Presbyterian churches, the phrase "Father, Son and Holy Spirit" may soon give way to alternatives such as "Compassionate mother, beloved child and lifegiving womb."
The Presbyterian Church (USA) General Assembly on Monday accepted a report that encourages, but does not mandate, using alternatives to traditional references to the Trinity.
"The language of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, rooted in Scripture and creed, remains an indispensable anchor for our efforts to speak faithfully of God," said the theological report for the 2.3-million-member Presbyterian Church (USA). "With this anchor in place, however, we are liberated to interpret, amplify, and expand upon the ways of naming the three-in-one God familiar to most church members. We are freed to speak faithfully and amply of the mystery of the Trinity." Quoted from www.al.com/news/birminghamnews/index.ssf?/base/news/1150795253293730.xml&coll=2

Confusion! "One reason is that language limited to the Father and Son "has been used to support the idea that God is male and that men are superior to women," the panel said.
Conservatives responded that the church should stick close to the way God is named in the Bible and noted that Jesus' most famous prayer was addressed to "Our Father."
Besides "Mother, Child and Womb" and "Rock, Redeemer, Friend," proposed Trinity options drawn from biblical material include: "Lover, Beloved, Love"; "Creator, Savior, Sanctifier"; and "King of Glory, Prince of Peace, Spirit of Love."
Early in yesterday's business session, the Presbyterian assembly sang a revised version of a familiar doxology, "Praise God from whom all blessings flow" that avoided male nouns and pronouns for God."www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/ny-uspres204789343jun20,0,3989803.story?coll=ny-nationalnews-print

Won't be long and these crazies will be modifying the scripture to be inclusive of animals. I can see future churches rejecting specism in favor of an all inclusive world. Hence all references to animal sacrifices, killing lions and riding donkeys will be expunged. And thus, when the world is ridden with drugs and drug barons, family breakdown, soaring crime and the like, people will be ever vigilant to ensure animal rights are not attacked in the bible.
