John Edwards claims he will cure conditions like Christopher Reeve's condition. Using a death for political gain is sick.

John Edwards claims he will cure conditions like Christopher Reeve's condition. Using a death for political gain is sick. I don't believe Edwards said he could cure anything. I believe he was speaking to the promise that stem cell research holds out to eventually provide a cure to conditions like Reeves' as well as many others, including the disease that Reagan suffered from (Alzheimer's). Had stem cell research not been curtailed under Reagan and Bush it is possible that there would have been a way to mend spinal cords. Banning research for everyone because of a personal belief seems like the height of selfishness. Suppose a JW had decided that all research on blood transfusions was illegal? Organ transfers are against the belief of many. Should everyone be deprived of this because some do not agree?

Well I am a Republican and am torn on stem cell research-- dont understand it as much as I would like--
But I am sure everything is not black and white-- there would be alot of grey areas and that is the problem with making some stuff more available--

Isn't it cruel for Pretty Boy Trial Lawyer John Edwards to politicize the death?
Why can't he leave Reeve's name out of his campaign? Maybe Edwards would sue those tobacco companies and give the money to research?

Reeve had an unfortunate accident. There's inherent risks associated with riding horses. I don't know the whole story behind his horse accident, but from what I understand of it he was a bit careless, showing off, etc. If I'm wrong in that, please correct me. Sick and twisted? Sure. Funny? Hell yeah. An original costume? Yup. andy

Christopher Reeve wanted to walk so bad. But I imagine his wife knows he is better off to be out of suffering. I just resent Pretty Boy John Edwards using the event to support abortion.
