Well, John Howard is back in as Prime Minister and the coalition ( Liberal Party and National Party) have a larger majority than last election.
Yay!
Wonder if this will foreshadow in any way how the American electorate will respond at their polls.

Rob, I hope not, but I must admit that we all seem to be trending in that way. It was once said that self government will fail when people figure out that they can vote themselves goodies from the public treasury. Sadly, we have reached that point. Whichever candidate promises the most goodies generally does the best (at least with the general, ignorant public) and yes, that includes Bush who is also increasing spending and government control in the US (although at a slower rate than Kerry would).
Ah well... all we can do is pray and vote.

Hi Robb,
All I meant was a conservative govt was returned here with a larger majority than last time. Just wondering if the same trend will apply in the USA.

Yes, I continue to be perplexed by the lables of conservative and liberal. They seem to mean different things to different people.

Yes, I agree. The Liberal Party of Australia is anything but liberal. I think by Liberal they mean devoted to a free Aus. www.liberal.org.auThough I'm not a member or associate of any political party, I believe the current govt has managed Aus. soundly and I'm happy to see them returned. I also have a lot of respect for Mr Howard. He is a man of integrity and character.
