What possible benefit will "a moment of silence" have to the victims, their families, or anybody else? This is mere symbolism. If you really care, join a military, or medical service and really help people. If you can't do that, then just pray for the will of God to be done whether you agree with it or not. I am not opposed to remembering victims of any catastrophe, but I am opposed to tokens which make someone feel like they have done something so that they don't really have to do anything. inatent

There is no difference between the people who died in the WTC and the thousands who died from other causes beyond their control. The family killed by the drunk driver, the children killed when their house burns as they try to heat it with electric heaters on extension cords. If saving lives is the real goal then we would be much better off spending money to improve the quality of people's lives than wasting on on the window dressing we are being sold as the war on terrorism. It is a matter of dollars and cents. How much is a life worth? We are spending millions and millions on airline security and how many lives has it saved? What if that same investment was put into car safety? How many lives would be saved? We are doing exactly what the terrorists want to do themselves - make people afraid. How much was spent making sure the Dem. and Rep. convemtions were safe. Was there even a threat? The US needs to get a grip on reality and stop wearing 9/11 on their sleves.
