Why are the rates of suicide and depression growing? Can't we all be happy?

Stress depletes the necessary chemicals needful in the brain to overcome depression. It is not cured by religion, nor the result of failing to just pick one's self up by their boot straps, as some suggest.
To answer your question, "No, everyone cannot all be happy by another's or even others' wishful desires." Those who are clinically depressed need assistence to replace, even allow the body to rebuild, absent chemicals. Those who are ignorant about such things need to study them more carefully and strive to help such people in stressful lives rather than just wish everyone be happy. We all have our place to fill, even if only to help one other in life.
Kind regards,

Dennis,
How does that theory square with Judas and his suicide?
I have often wondered if suicide is linked to a persons loss of perspective and focus on self.

Having reread my previous post to this thread, I find nothing there which needs to be "squared" with Judas' suicide.
My post was to address depression. Depression does not always lead to suicide, though it appears to almost always include a loss of desire to live. Depression is just one cause of suicide. Antidotes to depression caused suicide include awareness of what such an act would do to those who really love the depressed one. If family really knew of and wished to assist the depressed, conversing with such a one about how much the depressed person means to them creates stronger deterent, even though it must be constantly reinforced.
Shame, dishonor, intollerable pain, inescapable torment and anguish, overwhelming regret, are other apparent causes of suicide. The extent to which depression accompanies these things, for me anyway, remains uncertain. Yes, suicide is indeed a very selfish/self centered human act.
However the original post to this thread linked depression and suicide. My intent was to address that underlying cause of suicide, and not the exceptions of other causes. Please reread it? Thank you.
Sincerely,
dj
