Folks from Australia, Europe and elsewhere owe a US soldier so much for their freedom. Without the bravery of American troops, the rest of the world would have suffered under Nazism, Stalinism and Islamic fundamentalism. I know some foreign leaders like to badmouth the USA. But America is the greatest nation on earth. US soldiers are brave and wonderful. Thank you GIs. Too bad the evil jerks in the media harp on prison abuse but don't show 9-11-01 photos! All the blame is on US troops and Donald Rumsfeld. Little anger toward Islamic fundamentalists!

Don't forget to think about the English, the Russian, the Canadian troops.. did you know even Moroccan troops helped to liberate Europe from the Nazis?? Being an European I am thankful for all the ALLIED forces that liberated Europe.

Take away with US troops and firepower and the NAZIS and COMMIES would have overun Europe. Japan would have controlled Asia. Thanks to a US soldier, you "peace loving" Europeans have freedom. I know it hurts your national pride to admit it. But I think you ought to admit it to yourselves since you don't want Americans to know about it. When I hear Euopeans running down the American way of life, I get angry-too bad US soldiers died to save their butts.

I do fully respect the American effort to free Europe and I am thankful for it, but my point is that it was an allied force. Without the help of the British people and so many other nations it would have been a very, very hard job. I do not hate Americans, or the American way of life, but I want to respect the lives lost by soldiers from other nations as well, who also fought to make this world a free world. I am speaking about Europe, not one country in particular, so national pride has nothing to do with it.

Before you go too crazy here you should look and see what kind of a sacrifice was made by various nations. Without the Russians and their armies we might all be living under a different government. If the Germans and the Russians had maintained the German--Soviet Non-aggression Pact the outcome could have been very different. Have you thanked a Russian Soldier?

Whatever good we as a nation have done in the world, or whatever we may do in the future, should be done with thankfulness to God for the power and opportunity, never with bragging or telling anyone they need to be thankful to us! I have traveled extensively to many countries, and nothing makes me more ashamed than my fellow-Americans talking or acting like they are better than anyone else. This attitude only invites the "Yankee go home" attitude. inatent

Have you thanked a Russian Soldier ---------- You kidding? For enslaving Eastern Europe? For enforcing Stalin's gulags? For constructing a wall in East Berlin to divide the city? No way.
USA #1. Long live the red, white and blue. America is the best nation on earth. I am thankful my ancestors crossed the Atlantic.

Have you thanked a Russian Soldier ---------- You kidding? For enslaving Eastern Europe? For enforcing Stalin's gulags? For constructing a wall in East Berlin to divide the city? No way. I know it wil be difficult for you but try to focus. You were talking about WW II and defeating the Germans. That would not have been possible without the help of the Russians. The Allied forces did not have an easy go of it and if the German troops had not been tied up with the Russians on the eastern front it would have been a completely different war. The Russians lost somewhere between 8 and 12 million soldiers, The US less than 300,000. So, yes, I think you should thank a Russian soldier for their help. And remember - focus on WWII and not the cold war for this moment.

Only because Germans became exhausted when they invaded Russia- a fate Napoleon learned all to well.

I personally wish to thank any and all men and woman who fought and gave their life and their time to enable my own personal freedoms.
I don't care what country or decade they came from.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to write my thoughts and opinions openly and without fear of retribution.
I am glad for every life given in every battle - from the days of Genisis on to today.
Amen

I hope the world will continue to unite in kinship when faced with the evil of their time.
