The more "humanitarian" stuff we do for the Arabs, the more they shoot us. We feed them and they spit in our faces.

I know -- it's easy to feel that way, with how the "news" over there is generally presented. What was it Geraldo said: 'reporters don't report buildings that don't burn' . . . .? This is true, unfortunately. The mainstream media would have us think Iraq is literally going to hell in a handbasket, but countless reports from the inside also inform us of all the progress going on, and the genuine gratitude of the Iraqi people. They don't want us to leave until the danger is over. They don't like the violence any more than we do. The chaos is being caused by desperate forces loyal to Saddam as well as terrorists who don't want to see a successfully democratic Iraq.

The only progress I see is the continuing reduction of our armed forces. Meaning at this time almost 650 of OUR men and women are dead. I don't know the count for our "allies". The war seems to be a personal vendetta our President had for Saddam concerning Daddy Bush. At this time it is basically anarchy in Iraq.

The instructor for my Orienteering class at the university (he's a Sargeant who was in Iraq recently) said that initially the Iraqi's were glad to have the U.S. military there. But, he says that things have gotten bogged down and there seems to be a lack of plans for what to do next, so there's practically an open invitation for violence. He said that most of the attacks on U.S. troops now are not from Iraqi's, but from people from elsewhere (Iran, Al-Qaeda, etc.). Yes, it certainly does seem like G. W. just had to carry on his daddy's agenda. It's like they're trying to create a dynasty?? andy

The war seems to be a personal vendetta our President had for Saddam concerning Daddy Bush. I don't buy this claim. Not really. There are insurgent (sp?) groups (mostly non-Iraqi and former Saddam loyalists) who are desperate to put a stop to progress in that country, because Democracy there is a threat to them. It just "seems" like anarchy, because not enough of the positive news and good progress is being reported on -- according to people who are/have been there.

I recall an Orsen Wells film about Nostradamus from my youth. It showed a ruler from the middle east who would arise near the end of the millinium. They showed some footage with actors in a military command center representing the arab leader. Honest to goodness--he was the spitting image of a young Saddam Hussein!

There does seem to be an uprising beginning with the Iraqi people as well. They don't want us there. Neither do I. My nephew has been there. It is another Vietnam. We are killing innocent Iraqi civilians, women, children. For what? To blow their town apart only to say we will rebuild it? I agree building the hospitals are a good idea. They really need them now. Building schools? What's the point if there will be no one to attend them? I agree Saddam is an evil and sadistic man who did horrible things to his people. What about Rwanda. Where were we when the rivers ran red with blood. I guess they didn't have as much as a coffee bean, little lone an oil field. Osama was and still is the real threat the the US people.

Just for the record for all Dubya fans. He probably will be elected president this year but he won't be re-elected. The Supreme Court put him in office.
