Wow! I LOVE the posts by " gloryintruth" He has that unmistakable professing spirit that we see the world over, but is a lot smarter and more eloquent than either Nathan or Wally. Does anyone know if he is/was a worker? I'm going to have to do more research. Lots of gems just from this thread alone: The sinfulness of man, and what that means when constrasted against a Holy God, whose wrath is kindled forever against all ungodliness. As Moses said in his Psalm, " He is angry with us all the day long". But in Jesus of Nazareth, such condemnation is lifted. " He who believes is not condemned".
Fear of hell and damnation, however (as C. S. Lewis pointed out) is not a sickness, but a healthy fear that drives us to the Lord of Mercy. No man appreciates salvation, unless he has trembled in mortal fear at the prospect of spending an eternity, lost.
My reading is that Jesus said, " He who would come after me must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me" and in another place, " He who saves his life shall lose it, but he who loses his life shall save it", and in another place, " If we confess our sins, he is just and quick to forgive". If ongoing confession and repentance are required masochism, then it would appear (extraordinarily enough) that the Apostles and yea, the Lord himself, so taught this! Brad needs help. The best help would be for him to turn again to the Church, recieve the gospel, and be healed from the heart. Unfortunately, he has chosen to wander the mountainside, " crying and cutting himself with stones". |

Brad Lewis' family lives in Portland, Oregon. Why didn't they try to help him. Does a child in the work relieve you of any obligations as a parent? If you think F&W's should be running a psychological counseling institution, you're just as nutty as the rest of these exers. As for me, I don't WANT to identify myself. (Nice try) For all you know I could be Harold Bennet ... but I'm not. I am someone who left the Truth because I was unwilling for it ... It's probably right and I'm probably wrong. At least I don't make excuses like the rest of these hypocritical forum posters. I notice with interest we have a "nice try" poster called OryGoner who knew the friends around Portland, Oregon. |
