I've heard all those stories from my grandparents' early days. I always wondered how people put up with all the silly rules. True.
But when you also hear some of the problems our grandparents had at that time, -it kind of helps you understand a little better.
My grandmother said that she had prayed that something would come down through the "brush" (the name they gave their local area) and either stir up/ tear up/ or burn the place down because she was so tired of all the fighting and killing amongst her own people there.
She considered her prayer answered by the workers who came through with the gospel. Indeed. I've heard stories about my grandfather and his siblings getting their mother (my great grandmother) out of the clutches of the minister who came around every so often demanding more money from her. She had ten kids and had lost her husband to cancer.

Sin of the parents... Hence the old saying: life is about choices and consequences be careful how you choose(it might affect others)... Right on, Wally! We see parents who were 5 generation of 2x2s after they left the fellowship... and most of their children are no longer walk in it. Their parents choice had great consequences on their children for Eternity. Most of those in the fellowship are those whose families go back several generations. Not many new converts over the years. As they say, you are a relative newcomer.

Just look at the Children of Israel... They had known God's laws for 4000 years and look where they are at now! They rejected their God Savior and Redeemer Christ Jesus for 2000 years and still outside the will of God.

** Amen, Wally... Look at what Chuckie Hebrewic mind is doing to some of these people... It has messed up! and corrupt Their minds and thinking. Annan just showed you up, just admit you had no idea "rod" was the law and move on.... Don't hold your breath, Chuck. Just to clarify... When I speak of the law, I am speaking of Jewish law/biblical teachings. Do you realize there are 150 laws to be followed each and every day? 350 on sacred holidays! Jesus supposedly came to free us from the law, as in the law there is obedience but no love. It amazes me what Christians today think Jesus was talking about. Get a clue, Natie. The holy spirit sure screwed up on this one. Schizophrenic nutjob.

Their parents choice had great consequences on their children for Eternity. Geez you speak some rot. NOT rot, Chuckilite.... I have seen it happened for my 45 professing years and is still going on today. I read of the 120 plus years history of the 2x2s, parents depart from the faith and their children didn't want anything to do with the fellowship for many generations, some return but NOT too many.
We read the same thing in the scriptures... I john 2:19-20 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

Jesus supposedly came to free us from the law, as in the law there is obedience but no love. It amazes me what Christians today think Jesus was talking about. Get a clue, Natie. The holy spirit sure screwed up on this one. Schizophrenic nutjob. Here is my and yours favorite site of learning.... What does it mean to "spare the rod, spoil the child"?
The phrase “spare the rod, spoil the child” is a modern-day proverb that means if a parent refuses to discipline an unruly child, that child will grow accustomed to getting his own way. He will become, in the common vernacular, a spoiled brat. The saying comes from Proverbs 13:24, “He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.” The Lord uses discipline to reveal our sin to us. This is also how parents reveal the truth of our need for a Savior to their children. When a child does not feel the consequence of his sin, he will not understand that sin requires punishment. The Lord provides a way to salvation and forgiveness through Jesus, but that means little to those who do not see their sin. Furthermore, correction shows us that we are not above reproach and that we are accountable for our actions. Our natural pride blinds us to our need for a Savior, and discipline reveals the truth of our wretchedness (Revelation 3:17). Since salvation is the most important choice the child will ever make, it is imperative that parents are leading him to Christ, and discipline is critical to this process. Proverbs 23:13 says, “Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die.” In the context of verses 13–14, die means “experience spiritual death in hell.” Children who respect authority and feel sorrow for their sin are much more likely to ask Jesus to forgive them and be saved.
All children are born sinful (Romans 5:12–19). Their natural self is destructive and unrighteous. That does not mean they aren’t valuable and worthy of love (Psalm 127:3). It means that they are not born with any natural “goodness” in them. That is why all children need discipline. Proverbs 22:15 says, “Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him.” Discipline is critical for wisdom (Proverbs 29:15), and a child who obeys his parents will be wise (Proverbs 13:1). And even adults who do not heed correction will feel the consequences of their foolishness (Proverbs 10:13). Some people believe in discipline, but not in physical discipline such as spanking. However, the Bible is the final word on what is truth; it is not mere opinion or theory. The word rod indicates a thin stick or switch that can be used to give a small amount of physical pain with no lasting physical injury. A child should never be bruised, injured, or cut by a physical correction. The Bible warns that parents should never abuse the power and authority they have over their children while they are young because it provokes the children to righteous anger (Ephesians 6:4; Colossians 3:21). Physical discipline is always done in love, never as a vent to the parent’s frustration. It is also just one part of discipline and should be used when the child shows defiance to a clear limit, not in the heat of the moment.
God instructs parents to parent their children the way He parents His children. Hebrews 12:5–11 tells us that God disciplines those whom He loves to perfect their righteousness. God only disciplines His own, which proves that Christians are His beloved children. Notice that David says that the Lord’s rod comforts him in his time of trouble (Psalm 23:4). Finally, we know that no discipline feels good while it is happening, but afterwards the rewards are rich (Hebrews 12:11). Godly character, fruit of the Spirit, and peace are rewards of God’s discipline. The same is true for our human children. Children who have learned how to take responsibility for their actions are much happier people (Proverbs 3:11–18). The importance of the rod of correction is that it steers the heart of a child toward Jesus and the forgiveness of sin He offers. When parents trust God’s methods over their own, they will see the blessings for their children and themselves.www.gotquestions.org/spare-rod-spoil-child.html

You have simply ate up all the horrible propaganda made by Christians throughout history who didn't want any competition!
Also to the Christians, Witches were handy scapegoats used by Christians whenever something when wrong for whatever reason!
Wiccan morality
"Bide the Wiccan laws ye must, in perfect love and perfect trust ... mind the Threefold Law ye should – three times bad and three times good ... Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill – an it harm none, do what ye will. Lady Gwen Thompson
Wicca has been characterised as a life-affirming religion.
Practitioners typically present themselves as "a positive force against the powers of destruction which threaten the world".
There exists no dogmatic moral or ethical code followed universally by Wiccans of all traditions, however a majority follow a code known as the Wiccan Rede, which states "an it harm none, do what ye will".
This is usually interpreted as a declaration of the freedom to act, along with the necessity of taking responsibility for what follows from one's actions and minimising harm to oneself and others.

This is usually interpreted as a declaration of the freedom to act, along with the necessity of taking responsibility for what follows from one's actions and minimising harm to oneself and others.Propaganda at best on your part and whoever thompson is or the source you are quoting.

Similarities between BPD and NPD People with a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder or Narcissistic Personality Disorder share many similar characteristics.

You have simply ate up all the horrible propaganda made by Christians throughout history who didn't want any competition!
