In your area, are the F&W gospel meetings advertised or do people find out via word of mouth?

The gospel meetings in my area are put into the newspaper, and often we go door to door inviting.

Gospel meetings in this area are not advertised. When I was in meetings, not many outsiders came to the gospel meetings. When they did, they usually never came back. It seems the workers have put more effort into trying to get those who have left meetings to return.

As far as I know in our area they are not advertised. But I do know in the little town that I live near they put invitations in some mailboxes or doors, because a lady showed up due to it.

Mostly word of mouth - one of our SW is almost 90 - no way should she be out there going door to door. Not in this heat.
Bluenoser: What brings up your question?

Mainly, I wondered if there was some kind of consensus amongst the workers on this issue. (There seems to be uniformity on many other things).

I don't think there is any consensus - When I was in the work, we handed out cards in small towns, where it was fairly easy to walk around - and before a lot of towns started ordinances against solicitations. It depends, too, I think, on the sex of the workers, though I've met a couple of SW's that I wouldn't mess with ( ;D), the locale - sometimes the weather isn't conducive to lot's of walking. Age and mobility of the workers, etc
In the smaller towns, I'll admit it was nice to get out and meet people - though as I mentioned above, so many towns have those ordinances now.
