Much time is spent away from their fields during preps. Or writing letters in the bedrooms of their friend's home. Nothing wrong with that. But so little evangelism. A few will pass out invitations and put ads in the newspapers. But most let the friends invite outsiders to the gospel meetings. There are remote areas of my field that the workers have NEVER had gospel meetings! NEVER! They won't venture very far from the friend's children! I think this group is preserved through reproduction instead of effective evangelism!!! They whine about worker shortages. How many workers is enough? Get on the radio and it doesn't matter how large a field might be! OH has a field that is 10K miles square. Preach on a radio station in Columbus OH and it doesn't matter. Imagine some of these workers preaching on radio! HA!

"I think this group is preserved through reproduction instead of effective evangelism!!!"
I couldn't agree more. What happen to Mat 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:"

Jack Carroll tired that in the Pacific North West causing a split between the east USA and west USA. There doesn't seem to be any real records of what happened that caused Jack Carroll to stop the radio preaching. I remember my parents make some comments about it when I was in my pre-teens. I remember my dad giving some level of chuckle. We stil don't see that much exchange of workers from east to west USA.
Perhaps if they really taught the true Gospel of Jesus Christ as sjg has suggested TRUE UNITY of fellowship in Jesus Christ would happen.
Thanks sjg for posting!

So, too bad, what have YOU done about this? (other than post on a board where most who read do not support or have any influence in the workers church? Did you take your complaint to the workers?
Did you expect to get change by posting here?
Or did you expect a lot of agreement from exes?
Well, why did you post here?

I know that one thing Jack Carroll did on the radio was debate a university professor about a variety of issues. Evolution was one. From what I can gather the reason this is not discussed is because he did quite poorly and the friends who were strongly rooting for him were embarrased because he made such a poor showing. In his defense, I doubt he was an experienced debator.

I assume that when George Walker tried to excommunicate Carroll over the radio issue, workers went underground and limited their evangelism.

I was unde the impression that the radio just didn't work out. No one was calling trying to find out what religion is this guy, I want to join! Instead, long standing friends were embarrased by how ignorant one of our top guns sounded when put up to public scrutiny.
George Walker claimed that the workers went underground and had to limit their evangelism with the excommunication of Ed Cooney. He was such a prominent figure, and they treated him so poorly that they began to lie low to avoid getting bad press. Mr George never seemed at all concerned about Jacks venture into radio. Of course this was some years after it happened. I do know Mr George threatened several times to *cut off the west coast* but to my knowledge the issue was never radio.
