Re: Discussion: What is the Narrow Way?

Christ is the narrow way "I am the way, the truth and the life - walk ye in it" "Whither I go ye know and the way ye know" When Thomas asked "How shall we know the way" - he asked the question that bothers us all at times - but the answer is simple - "I am the way - walk ye in it" - glad this was cleared up at special meetings recently - not a way made narrow with rules and regulations - (can't say I've ever seen a rule book -but have been offered good counsel from time to time)- so jesus is the way and I'm glad he sent the comforter to guide us in it. The narrow way is only one set of footprints wide.

(KJV) Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Does your belief structure fit through the Jesus Christ funnel? If the whole belief structure doesn't fit, you're in a broad way.

...Thomas asked "How shall we know the way" - he asked the question that bothers us all at times - but the answer is simple - "I am the way - walk ye in it" - glad this was cleared up at special meetings... Jesus never sadi "walk ye in it". That is just man's private interprtation. John 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going." 5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" 6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." You know the way - you know (me) - as you know the Father you know me. Jesus is the way.

I realize that Greg lee unplugged mentions that it doesn't exist but I was wondering if it wasn't specific to the King James Version? If it's not really in the Bible then I am so amazed that the worker would use old English in his sermon, implying to all those who are listening that this is the Word of God.

Jesus did say Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.. I'm not sure what form of transport He had in mind once you got through.

If Jesus = the way, why do workers think THEY are the way?
Jesus = Himself
Jesus does not = workers

Col 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him

This is close, but no cigar.
2 Jn 6: And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
The "walk ye in it" of the workers is NOT in the Bible. Sad that they repeat it after all this time (only a little over 100 years) and they don't even realize it's made up.

Isa 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This [is] the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

What is this referencing (Is 30:21) ?
The workers' method? Their ministry? Not at all.
Context, context, context.
19 O people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you. 20 Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. 21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." 22 Then you will defile your idols overlaid with silver and your images covered with gold; you will throw them away like a menstrual cloth and say to them, "Away with you!"
The workers "walk ye in it" has nothing to do with thes verses.

As both Roy and Greg have pointed out,
"I am the way, the truth and the life - walk ye in it"
is a mis-quote.
As they both pointed out,
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
is the correct quote.
