Obscure question. Tracts of scripture were hand written and circulated for thousands of years It was translated into Greek for the diaspora Jews It was translated into the "vulgar" vulgate for the people There was a "people's bible" as opposed to the "bishop's bible" ... and these two were accomodated into the KJV in 1611. I think there are about 4,000 translations today.
