"Jesus asked the disciples, “who do you say that I am?” He is asking us the same thing today. Can you say with Peter, “Thou art the Christ, the son of the living God”?" "2) They MUST believe that Jesus is the son of God, deity in human flesh and that He is the ONLY way to salvation."
Just one little note and I will go away. I do not and have not and will not believe that Jesus is God. You have just stated twice that He is the Son of God. This is what I believe. He is extremely similar to God in many ways, but He is God's Son. It is the way I see and understand it. If I am going to hell because of a simple understanding of simple words 'the Son of God' then I guess I can greet anyone else you (anyone) might think will be there.
Don't take me wrong (seems like I have typed this in the past), I believe that Jesus is holy as can be and better than you or I could ever imagine. And I believe He is the only possible way to heaven. I believe He is holier than the holiest, but equal to God in that matter. I believe He and His Dad share the same Spirit, but do not share the same body. And yes, I believe Jesus and God have bodies. They share the Holy Spirit.
But that is just my naive understanding. What I can't figure out is if all this is so simple and even babes can understand it (and I'm no genius), then why is it so terrible for me to believe as it is written - Jesus is the Son of God. I haven't read yet that he claims to be God. He never said in any of my Bibles, "I, Jesus, am God."
I don't care what the latest fad is. I don't care if the whole world believes Jesus is God. I don't. Jesus is the Son of God to me and the best thing since the Mississipp. If taking the Bible for what it says sends me to Hell, heh heh, well . . . I don't think the Bible is sending me to hell.
One more thing and then I'll really disappear. God was in Heaven while Jesus was on earth. God is still in Heaven and Jesus sits at his right hand. Sorry if I'm too simplistic. I heard and read all this when I was very young. If children are too young to understand the Bible, then I need to throw mine away.
Have a good one.
